In a sense, I find that the character dynamics between Doom and Polaris are fundamentally unconvincing. The Doom is portrayed as inherently cruel, while Polly’s relaxed demeanor contributes to a dismal overall interaction between them. It is improbable that Polly would accept the treatment by a character who consistently displays hostility towards others, including himself. Doom's character is largely unappealing, and Polly's role seems to serve merely as inconsequential relational support, ultimately resulting in a lackluster performance in narrative context. The primary characterization we have of Polly is rooted in Barry's infatuation with him due to his medical condition.

One must question the rationale behind the notion that a relationship between Doom and Polaris could be successful. Within the framework of Comet Care, it is likely that such a pairing would fail to sustain itself. The only potential factor for their continued association appears to be the dating of their respective spouses, which raises the question of whether that alone justifies their connection, compounded by the bleak reality that they raise a child together in that Alternate Universe— a task Polly seems ill-equipped to manage, and one that Doom already falls flat on doing, already coddling cream like the incompetent figure he is.

Doom and Polaris are on two sides of the coin when it comes to personality, and GOD, it's just unbearable to see.
