The First Mistake

Darian had finally gotten a night off, and he decided that he should try and spend it being social. So, when he heard of the ball, he had spent a bit too much on his outfit, having got some oddly familiar designer to craft it for him. Darian was pleased with the outcome, and it seemed to allow him to blend in with the stunning costumes throughout the crowd.
Having been scooting his way through, he had stopped before Sakura, noting her costume. However, he did a quick double take to her. There was something so familiar, an aura so recognizable to him that it only took moments for the connection to make. Her. And, when he seemed to accidentally grab her attention, he tilted his gaze up to meet hers. It was a blessing he had on a mask for he doubted she would know who he was.
"Can I help you?"
Ever the social butterfly, Sakura was having a lovely time at the Hallow's Eve Ball. The music, the atmosphere, the costumes, the refreshments - everything was just perfect. And, of course, it helped that she felt absolutely stunning in her own costume. She was definitely going to have to talk Lupin into a mountain photo shoot at a later date, because she knew her followers would go rabid for it.
She had been working her way across the party toward a regular she recognized from The Flower Mill when she came face-to-face with a man in a mask. Nothing too notable about that, all things considered; but she recognized the costume. Or, the workmanship of it, rather. And she couldn't help but notice that the man wearing it filled it out very nicely.
"Oh, I was just admiring your costume," she replied with one of her signature effervescent smiles, not the least bit embarrassed to have been caught in the act. After all, he didn't need to know that she had noticed anything aside from the costume itself. "Looks like my brother's handiwork. He made my costume, too... Have we met? It's hard to tell, with your mask and all."
