21 years ago today Oasis released the Silver (Definitely Maybe) and Gold (Morning Glory) singles box sets. Each version could be bought either with or without the singles included and came with an interview CD and booklet. The box sets still seem to go for quite high prices these days but watch out for broken hinges as they are very common. I remember both my local HMV and Virgin Megastore having huge displays of pretty much every Oasis release to date in any format they could lay their hands on.

It was the end of a glorious year for Oasis and the promotion was a real success. On 10th November I remember well listening to one of the best Top 40 charts ever with 4 Oasis tracks between 40 and 30. It was also the week that Beck released Devil’s Haircut which featured a remix by Noel. In fact the Top 55 was dominated by Oasis related tunes…
