You turned, seeing Billy Squier pull out his chair that was to the left of you. “You have no idea how relieved I am to see you.”

“It’s for the children.” You finished, taking on a posh accent that reeked of false propriety. “I’m sure for some of the people here, it’s some sort of tax evasion scheme.”
“Hush, you’re exposing my plan.”
The two of you caught up, having not seen each other for a year after you switched record labels.
“So,” he finally said, leaning closer on his elbows. “I have a favor to ask.”

Then there was that other thing, boiling low in his stomach and he held the door open for you to get in the car. Not having said a word since he got back to the table and not looking at you as you spared him a brief glance before ducking inside.
He knew he shouldn’t be bothered. He knew that.

Maybe it was just the surprise of it.
The silence stretched as the car ride went on. His eyes flicked briefly down to the way your hands wrung in your lap.
“You okay?” You asked, voice low as you reached for a bottle of water.
“Perfect.” Michael mumbled, messing with the cuff of his glove. “Raised a lot of money.”
“You did.”
“More than Billy Squire.”
He could feel your eye roll even though he wasn’t looking at you.
“That’s why you’re in a bad mood?” He couldn’t place why, but you almost sounded relieved.
That annoyed him further. “I’m not in a bad mood.”
“Please,” you scoffed. “You’re practically pouting.”
He finally turned to you, brows furrowing. “Are you two friends or what?”
You settled him with a glance. “Michael, you can’t be for real right now.”
“I’m just asking.”
“Are you friends with all those girls you bring on stage?”
“That’s completely different.”
“How?”
He looked away out of the window, clicking his tongue because he knew he didn’t have an answer.
“Look, he’s a friend who asked me for a favor to get the numbers up. That’s all.” You brushed some of his curls out of his face and he leaned into your touch, not being able to help it.
“Sorry, it’s just,” he shook his head at himself. He knew he was being immature about it. “There was a time you and I were just doing favors for each other like that.”

He let his head fall back against the headrest. He always got in his way too much. Self doubts creeping in anytime there was a moment of rest. Worried you’d had enough of his mess. His life. Maybe someone more safe would catch your eye—

He rolled his head to the side to look at you, you were smiling slightly. At least you weren’t mad at him for his childish behavior.

He was a perfectionist.
Hips rolling in a such a languid movement that it almost felt like its own language he’d crafted just for you. Me and my bonded skimwinng, Atroü, approached the island of the Metkayina alongside my parents, the rest of my clan followed suit against the current. I emerge from the teal ocean, water cascading down my face and torso as I turn to face my mother & father. The shore is just up ahead, I see a large numbers of teal heads start to makeout in my line of vision. I’ve been eager the entire length of this journey to see my long distance best friend Tsyireya, and hopefully ignore Ao’nung and all his futile attempts at flirting with me. I also missed the Sully kids, truly, shell collecting with precious Tuktirey, meditating with Kiri and practicing sparring with Neteyam and Lo’ak. It felt like it had been months since I last hung out with them, my tsakarem training taking up most of my time and also not always being able to travel to the Metkayina as often as I wanted.
I am a skilled hunter and a patient healer, at least I thought so. I did not need a mate and I certainly didn’t want one promised for me like I’m some prize to be married off too. I am more than capable of ruling my people without the help of another mate. I seriously can’t catch a break with all the courting suggestions my parents make, ugh!
Well I don’t think it’s all that bad, I just never had the time to click with someone in that way. But I am picky and my parents do want the best for me, someone worthy enough, if they even exist.
Our pods skimwings synchronize in a steady halt, “Finally” I thought to myself a small breath leaving from my chest. “Let’s see what this is all about” I say smirking towards the crowd.
I swing off my mount and place him near my mother! I approach the shore and met with the Olo’ekytan and the Tsahik.
“Oel ngati kameie” Tonowari and Ronal gesture their pointer and middle fingers touching their foreheads to my parents. They exchanged greetings and reciprocated the gesture with the same respect. I do the same but then see two figures approach from behind them. I finally spot Tsireya in the crowd and smile to myself speed walking towards her.
“Tsireya!!” I say enveloping her in a tight hug.
“Y/n!! I’ve missed you sister” she laughs, hugging back with equal force.
After I pull back from the hug my eyes meet Aonungs gaze and I roll my eyes instantly.
“Y/n, still looking for a mate? My offer still stands from last cycle?” He says smugly his arm on his sisters shoulder leaning down grinning at me cockily.
“Fat chance Aonung ugh” I reply uninterested, boredom laced in my tone as I roll my eyes again crossing my shoulders while smiling when I meet eyes with Tsireya. She giggles looking at Ao’nung who’s clearly offended to say the least.
But then my eye rolling is quickly replaced with curiosity. As I look over Ao’nungs shoulder to see a boy in the sea of people with trying to help the elders with heavy baskets. My eyes froze in position as I watched him carefully, I can’t help but feel entranced.
“Who is, that” I say in a breathy whisper as if I’m talking to myself. He turns his head and my eyes going wide as I make eye contact with what looks to be the most beautiful na’vi boy I had ever laid eyes on. Tsireya meets my gaze and looks over to who I’m getting all smitten for.
“Oh him? That’s just Roxto” she says it in a casual way where she assumes I already knew him which was a lie. I definitely didn’t know him, he was a work of art to say the least. His light blue eyes that look like the shallows of the reef, those frizzy dark locks that bounce with every subtle movement, his abs, eywa those abs. His toned body looked like it had been sculpted by the goddess herself. And oh, that smile, he’s the one, I know it.
“He’s perfect” I whisper under my breath completely dazed and utterly hypnotized. Watching him help the elders smiling, how adorable.
Tsireya and Ao’nung share a look of confusion and surprise.
“What do you mean?” They both say trying to snap me out of my trance but fail.
I move past them and gracefully make my way to where Roxto looks to be done with helping the elders unload. And boy does he look good disheveled. I grin and approach him tapping his chiseled back with my pointer finger.
He turns around, his beautiful blue eyes meet mine and squint as he smiles at me.
“H-hi can I help you” he says a bit startled but as soon as he meets my gaze his mouth forms and “o” shape, completely frozen like a hexapede caught in a steel trap.
“I’m Y/n” I say confidently grinning at his stuttering figure but also kind of dying on the inside, man he looks more gorgeous up close.
“Roxto it’s nice to meet you, Y/n” he says, my name flowing through his lips looking at me up and down almost bug-eyed, how sweet he’s never seen a girl from the Ta’unui huh, I thought to myself. I stared at him with hunger in my eyes like I was a mighty hunter assessing my prey, smirking at him like I’m about to pounce.
“Oh I know, how come I’ve never seen you around here sayrìp” the compliment flowed with practiced ease through my tongue, as I jutted my hip out with both hands on my hips & chin tilted up toward him like I owned the every grain of sand we stood on.
“I- um” he says flustered his face turning a hue of deep violet as he looks at everywhere on pandora but at my face.
In the distance, the festival music begins playing and the torches begin to light up simultaneously making the beach illuminate with a bright hue of oranges and yellow lights reflecting across the shore and pavilion. Voices and drumming being echoed from the across the docks for all ears to hear. I take this as the perfect opportunity.
I step closer almost invading his personal bubble to where are nose are barely touching. I look up at him batting my lashes, the size difference in height clearly visible. I reach to tilt his chin down to meet my gaze with my index finger and smirk my fangs glinting.
“Would you like to dance with me Roxto”
I wait for his response his eyes go as big as saucers and it looks like he almost can’t breathe. Fortunately he remembers how to breathe and answers.
“I would love too” he breathes like he’s been holding that in since the start of the evening smiling sheepishly.
“Good, now follow me pretty boy” I say teasingly taking his massive wrist and guiding him to the dance pavilion my hips swaying as the beads on my loin cloth and top create a clinking noise with every step.
“Lead the way..” he murmurs his eyes burning holes into my figure as I continue to guide him to the tribal circle where all the dancers are. Let’s see where this night takes us.

“Fat chance Aonung ugh” I reply uninterested, boredom laced in my tone as I roll my eyes again crossing my shoulders while smiling when I meet eyes with Tsireya. She giggles looking at Ao’nung who’s clearly offended to say the least.
But then my eye rolling is quickly replaced with curiosity. As I look over Ao’nungs shoulder to see a boy in the sea of people with trying to help the elders with heavy baskets. My eyes froze in position as I watched him carefully, I can’t help but feel entranced.
“Who is, that” I say in a breathy whisper as if I’m talking to myself. He turns his head and my eyes going wide as I make eye contact with what looks to be the most beautiful na’vi boy I had ever laid eyes on. Tsireya meets my gaze and looks over to who I’m getting all smitten for.
“Oh him? That’s just Roxto” she says it in a casual way where she assumes I already knew him which was a lie. I definitely didn’t know him, he was a work of art to say the least. His light blue eyes that look like the shallows of the reef, those frizzy dark locks that bounce with every subtle movement, his abs, eywa those abs. His toned body looked like it had been sculpted by the goddess herself. And oh, that smile, he’s the one, I know it.
“He’s perfect” I whisper under my breath completely dazed and utterly hypnotized. Watching him help the elders smiling, how adorable.
Tsireya and Ao’nung share a look of confusion and surprise.
“What do you mean?” They both say trying to snap me out of my trance but fail.
I move past them and gracefully make my way to where Roxto looks to be done with helping the elders unload. And boy does he look good disheveled. I grin and approach him tapping his chiseled back with my pointer finger.
He turns around, his beautiful blue eyes meet mine and squint as he smiles at me.
“H-hi can I help you” he says a bit startled but as soon as he meets my gaze his mouth forms and “o” shape, completely frozen like a hexapede caught in a steel trap.
“I’m Y/n” I say confidently grinning at his stuttering figure but also kind of dying on the inside, man he looks more gorgeous up close.
“Roxto it’s nice to meet you, Y/n” he says, my name flowing through his lips looking at me up and down almost bug-eyed, how sweet he’s never seen a girl from the Ta’unui huh, I thought to myself. I stared at him with hunger in my eyes like I was a mighty hunter assessing my prey, smirking at him like I’m about to pounce.
“Oh I know, how come I’ve never seen you around here sayrìp” the compliment flowed with practiced ease through my tongue, as I jutted my hip out with both hands on my hips & chin tilted up toward him like I owned the every grain of sand we stood on.
“I- um” he says flustered his face turning a hue of deep violet as he looks at everywhere on pandora but at my face.
In the distance, the festival music begins playing and the torches begin to light up simultaneously making the beach illuminate with a bright hue of oranges and yellow lights reflecting across the shore and pavilion. Voices and drumming being echoed from the across the docks for all ears to hear. I take this as the perfect opportunity.
I step closer almost invading his personal bubble to where are nose are barely touching. I look up at him batting my lashes, the size difference in height clearly visible. I reach to tilt his chin down to meet my gaze with my index finger and smirk my fangs glinting.
“Would you like to dance with me Roxto”
I wait for his response his eyes go as big as saucers and it looks like he almost can’t breathe. Fortunately he remembers how to breathe and answers.
“I would love too” he breathes like he’s been holding that in since the start of the evening smiling sheepishly.
“Good, now follow me pretty boy” I say teasingly taking his massive wrist and guiding him to the dance pavilion my hips swaying as the beads on my loin cloth and top create a clinking noise with every step.
“Lead the way..” he murmurs his eyes burning holes into my figure as I continue to guide him to the tribal circle where all the dancers are. Let’s see where this night takes us.
