.gif history is young, like that of a meme, or anything else that ‘comes to life’ on the Internet.

Life, that can be preserved for future generations.

Built from memories made of stardust and VHS tape, we were able to preserve a small sliver of this nostalgic time.

This is why I gravitate so much towards a vaporwave/ dreamwave aesthetic; I want to preserve it. For myself, and hopefully others who want to keep the pre-digitized memories alive.

I remember recording my own glitch tapes as a kid, on a VHS player with a tape comprised of simpsons clips, commercials and colorful news transitions.

Not all of the tapes survived the test of time, and others disintegrated as soon as I began digitizing the file.

But we all share the memories that we put to bed when we slept:

A subconscious being that lives in a world of glitch and nostalgia.

A place where the sleek aesthetic of 80s glamour could merge with the all-encompassing and undying expanse that is the Internet.
