I apologize if the blog looks a little messy today! I’m probably gonna try messing around with the theme a bit or change it to a different one at some point this evening/tonight. Yesterday I changed the mobile banner and added some stuff to Chrom’s about. So I’m really pleased with how they’re looking and I plan to add more, so things are gonna be tweaked here and there. I’ll try to get to replies at some point today as well!

Sure, she had something, but if she were asked exactly when that was she’d have trouble answering… Cordelia could only hope that Chrom wouldn’t question her further. She made an attempt to avoid the line of questioning by picking up the maps from Robin. Still, it was only temporary. Being a perfectionist, she prided herself on efficiency, so it was only natural she returned quickly with the maps.

“Robin said these were the most important ones to familiarize yourself with,” she spoke as she entered the tent again.

There’s a part of the prince that wants to doubt her response, but at the same time he knows she cares for herself well. It shows with her dedication to whatever cause she throws herself into. So for now he lets it drop as he watches her quickly retreat and figures he’ll ask someone else about it later if it returned to mind.

Pushing himself to the edge of his bed, he slowly brings himself up to his feet as he grabs a hold of Falchion and digs the blade into the ground for balance. In a way, he feels almost like a newborn deer and it frustrates him to no end as he grips his side a bit firmer. By the time Cordelia returns he’s making his way towards his makeshift desk and carefully brings himself to sit.

“Alright. I’ll look them over immediately.” His jaw is tight as he reaches out a hand for the maps. “If you want to, you can also take your leave to go rest. I’m not sure how long you’ve been looking after me, but I can’t imagine it’s been interesting.”

I feel like Chrom deals with anxiety. Not a lot so it doesn’t really inhibit him, but especially when it comes to situations he’s unused to it can eat at him a bit. Anxiety can also be linked to rage, and sometimes Chrom does burst and while it’s not exactly the full reason why he’d get so fired up I feel like it’s part of it.

The battlefield/leading the Shepherds and wielding a sword are the places he’s most comfortable. It was a life he had come to accept for himself. That’s who he was raised to be as Emmeryn was the one that would rule until her passing. So when that position gets pushed on him, as he’s the only one eligible, he holds his doubts. He countlessly compares himself to Emm and what she was able to bring the halidom. She was able to bring peace and her rule, and sacrifice, was large not only in Ylisse but Plegia as well. So on the brink of ending one war, the start of another, and trying to rebuild the kingdom while living up to Emm and pushing back what his father’s tyranny had done it’s a lot on his shoulders. It’s not something he’s prepared for.

I think Chrom would really feel rather small his first time in holding court. Staring at nobles that have been there longer than he can recount and those wanting to be in his own council would be very unsettling to him. He’s still pretty young before and after Grima to be taking on that position.

So I feel that Chrom would question his abilities to uphold such a station. For while he’s confident out in the field, politics are not his strong suit. He’s great at making friends, but the pressure of weighing out relationships between nations is a different playing field.

Anxiety can also be related to not only outbursts of anger/heavy emotion, but impulsivity as well. Which we kind of know that Chrom has a bit of that going on as well. He’s someone who is very quick to jump the gun or to make decisions that at times may seem a bit rash. I feel like during his first few years as Exalt after the war with Grima has passed that the anxiety would be up a bit more for him. He’d then be without Robin, his eldest sister, and is now forced to sit in the palace tending to things that he never intended to try dealing with until he had too. It’s a lot of change in a short amount of time, and a heavy change at that, that would probably impact Chrom a lot.

At finding his sister gazing at the stars a light smile comes over his features. He doesn’t mean to interrupt such a peaceful moment for her, so instead he continues his trek forward before taking a seat beside her. There’s a shake of his head and a reassuring pat to her knee.

“Of course not. Even you deserve some time to yourself like this.” She worked so tirelessly after all. He knew the stuffy nobles she had to deal with may think otherwise, but in his eyes Emmeryn was the hardest working person he knew. To him, she deserved the entire world.

Casting his own gaze up at the stars, he lets out a quiet hum. “Maybe one day if you’re not too busy you, me, and Lissa could spend some time together like we used to. You could use some more time to yourself.”

Okay, but imagine if Chrom learned how to help do Lissa’s hair. Especially after what happens to Emm, but even maybe before. Like obviously she doesn’t probably need the help and they tease each other a lot, but their supports just show how close they are despite all the picking on one another. No he can’t fill that older sister role, but I feel he’d strive to be the best brother he could be and even more-so after Emmeryn’s passing.
