from the ground , the parapets that surrounded the castle gates were so high -- lucina could remember standing at the top of them as a child , watching for her father from day to night , being the lady of the castle whilst her mother followed him . she always looked forward to the day that she could follow them as well . lucina wonders if her infant self will feel the same yearning .

garreg mach is everything new and interesting , for a daisy - fresh princess from a foreign land . the uniform is so different from her dresses of silk and tulle at home , the environment colder ... but her heart is warm enough for the chill in the air , to blanket herself at night when she’s so homesick she could burst . it’s her first taste of newness , of something different / and she will bring all her knowledge home for a better land .
