He grumbled something incoherent as he shifted the car’s gear, taking down the hand break and setting out of the movie theatre car park.

It was the early summer after you graduated High school, one of your first summer weekends. He wasn’t working on weekend nights and you weren’t as well, it allowed you two to slot perfectly into each other’s schedules before going off to college. You met at a mutual friend’s party at the beginning of senior year and had been seeing each other ever since, making it almost half a year together.

The air was cool enough for it to be bearable but warm enough that going straight home at this time seemed silly. Especially with how you only had about 3 months left together all the time. It was one of those weekend summer night were everyone in their social circle was throwing or at a party, no matter how big or small. You could tell this by the bucket loads of teenagers trecking around the area or carpooling with loud music blaring from every other house.

As he drove down his street, he slowed down, sighing softly to himself as he glanced out the window to see one of the louder of the house parties. “We should’ve gone to Wills. It would have been so good. Why did we say no for a movie?” He groaned, looking over at you before going back to the road. “A movie! We said no to will for a movie!”

Will was his best friend, his best friend since elementary school and who was always hosting a tiny little party tonight with the guys and their girlfriends. Will did these on a weekly basis. Schlatt loved going to Wills. They always involved Schlatts favourite things. Mario cart, Good music and good company. Plus his parents never reacted when he mentioned a last minute party at Wills.

“Why don’t we just go?” You blurted out “He’s down the street, his things don’t usually end till like one” You scrolled on your phone to find the Snapchat group chat, confirming that it was only really getting started. He immediately sped up, his face shifting from upset to joy.

“This is why I’m dating you. I’ll text ma when I get there” He chuckled to himself as he gently pat your thigh, racing down the street to get to Wills.

Will lived in a nice house, one of the bigger ones on the block. The main appeal of his house was the rooftop. His bedroom, where most of the antics would end up, had a sky light that was almost intentionally big enough for an average sized human to fit through. Leading to his house having hoards of teens on the rooftop at ungodly hours.

He pulled up to his driveway, hearing Wills dog reacting from inside, barking. Alerting Will to come to the door, once he open it you guys were out of the car, Schlatts arm around your shoulder, some loud rap song coming out of the house.

“Guys! You came. How was the movie?”

You both winced in response, shaking your heads in response. “Let’s not talk about that”

Will smiled softly at the two of you, Schlatts arm pulling you in closer by your shoulder as you went into the house.

The groups had been gathered in the living room, playing Mario kart, talking and cleaning up the boxes of pizza till you heard Schlatt groan.

“Will! Do you have a charger?”

“In my room, yeah”

Schlatt tapped your shoulder, signalling for you to come with him, which you complied with. You held onto his hand as you adventured up to Wills room, leaving you two alone in his room.

“I haven’t been in his room in forever, I never come up here during his parties” He mumbled to him self as he plugged his phone in, walking around the room as he placed his hand on his hips. “Have you ever been through the latch to his roof?”

He fiddled with the latch, opening up the skylight. “Come on. You see the whole town”

You huffed, linking your arms through the window as you pulled yourself up, assisted by Schlatt pushing up your waist.

Wills roof was flat, making it very easy to sit on without any fear of slipping off. You crawled onto the roof, sitting yourself down a little further away from the edge. Schlatt following up behind you, his arm going around your neck as he sat down, pulling you between his legs.

You sat there in silent, his hands going to your neck, gently rubbing the outside column as he placed his lips on your jaw. Staring off into the distance. You can see your houses from here, the park where you had your awkward first date and the car park where he asked you to be his girlfriend.

You breathed in the moment, one of the last quiet moments you may have together before going your separate ways for college. Not out of state but far enough were it was a considerable distance and took away the ability to see each other daily.

“How far you going for college?”

“Not too far”

“You think we will stay together?”

You both sat in silence after that, taking a small pause as you thought. “I want to. You never know what the future holds”

You both sat in silence again, not looking at each other. Just staring off into the distance. College felt miles away, yet you’re sat on the roof with your Highschool boyfriend discussing an event two months away. It felt unreal, made up, like you were about to wake up from this dream

“I hope we do” he mumbled, his hand gently rubbing your shoulder.

Your boyfriend had decided to do his monthly out of retirement visit to your channel. You met through content creation around two years ago, mutual youtuber friends was always the answer to how you met when it was really you dming him to ask what editing software he uses. Dating someone with a similar job to you always made life a little easier when both your schedules were extremely irregular. You understood each other better than you and your exs did.

It was fairly known in the space that you two were together. You joined him and Ted during their ice cream video, standing beside as one of your first public conformations of your relationship. Mostly sticking by him for the Ted videos where you’d be seen either clinging to his hip or his to yours.

You’d get the occasional kiss off camera but it was never on camera. The best nugget that the audience would get would be a look or a hand hold if they were lucky because god forbid you became one of those couples

You encouraged him to retire when it all got too much, as part of that plan he decided to do a monthly visit to your channel. Evident as today.

Your set behind you. A very nature themed set, exposed oak beams, dark green painted walls. A couch in the background and a few shelves full of mementos to past videos in the back, whilst the team and him sat on these comfy Ikea couch’s you had picked up for big group filming days or occasions when you needed everyone in the same room.

“Looks all good?” You mumbled to your camera guy, glancing slightly above the camera to see him. Replying with a quick thumbs up.

“I’ll cut that out” You mumbled to yourself as you perked back up

“So today, I went around the office and harassed the team at y/n productions. Plus my own home with my boyfriend.” You paused for dramatic effect “I forced them to all put their most embarrassing childhood experiences into a little Google form” You smiled at the camera as you glanced around at your team.

“This was part of my sham science experiment to find out what is the world’s most common embarrassing childhood trauma.” You moved your hair to the side as you swivelled your chair to the side, revealing the full projector screen behind you.

“So what we could do is just read through them. Talk a bit. Have some scientific research behind it And blah blah blah”

“But.. this is my show. It’s a PowerPoint presentation and I don’t know the results. Plus we got a special guest. So please give a warm welcome to my future husband”

You pushed back your chair slightly as you applauded, to the choir of the rest of the team clapping. Jschlatt, your boyfriend, came into frame. Absorbing all of the applause, raising his hands in the air as he sat down.

“Thank you. Thank you” He levelled out his papers on the desk, adjusting the sweatshirt he picked out for the day. Some random green one he keeps in the back of his wardrobe. He turned to face you, smiling softly as he moved the laptop, connected to the projector closer to himself.

“Alright. I’m professor Schlatt and this is our very scientific study on the most common childhood embarrassing moment. I did this with assistance from my co- professor. Not assistant, because we are not about sexism” He laughed to himself as the team behind him chuckled as well.

“Alright alright, give me the rankings”

“Okay! Pushy” he grunted, starting his PowerPoint. “Also I want you to play a game of guess which one is ours. Because we had the same”

You nodded in response. Resting your chin on your palm.

“So out of the all the responses these are the top 5. Number 5” He paused, clicking over to the slide to the big text saying

“WETTING YOURSELF”

He echoed, looking around the room.

“Around 10% that is one in about 10 people who work here put that work here stated their most embarrassing memory as a child was wetting themselves” He stated, reading from the paper placed in front of him.

“One person wrote. I pissed myself in front of my whole school during a play”

The laugher roared throughout the office as he went through the presentation, leaving you smiling and giggling like a girl with a crush on a boy in Highschool.

“Okay so last but not least. Let me just ask you miss. Do you think you’ve heard your one yet” He asked, spinning his chair back towards you. His papers in his hand, his expression soft.

“I don’t think I have professor” You rebuttalled, shaking your head lightly.

“Well that’s because it’s next. This is… drumroll please”

You all banged the desks in build up to this, revealing in large text

“CALLING YOUR TEACHER MOM”

“Around 50% of the office has done this, including myself. One person wrote, i accidentally called my male choir teacher m-“

“THATS MY STORY” You screamed as you pushed your hand infront of his mouth, clasping it over to stop his recollection of the story.

“That story is for another day! Thank you for joining us this morning. We are not finishing this PowerPoint” you laughed as you signaled to cut, removing your hand from his mouth to feel your palm wet.

“What the fuck?”
