There’s no consensus about ANYTHING regarding fanfiction.

You can’t please everyone but you can please yourself.

Some people out there are rude and can’t be reasoned with.

Fanfiction is NOT your job. Don’t feel guilty for “not updating in months”.

First of all, this might get a little nsfw-ish so don’t read if you feel uncomfortable with it :3 it also contains spoilers.

I’ve seen a lot of discourse with this ship, so I’d like to share my point of view. Maybe both sides can understand each other better after this.

With DMC 5 we finally received the canon proof that Vergil is Nero’s father. There were hints and some rumors but it has never been addressed in the games before. We’ve also learned that V is the human part of Vergil who was separated by the latter in order to get stronger.

For me V and Vergil are different characters. And this is the main reason why I don’t see a problem with shipping V and Nero.

It was not V’s body who had sex with Nero’s mother. It was Vergil’s. Years ago. When V wasn’t even existing.

V has different ideals than Vergil. His main motivation is to survive or find a way to exist on his own. V is also younger than Vergil and looks completely different and I also think that neither V nor Vergil know about their connection to Nero at first.

I also don’t think that V sees himself as Nero’s father because…. Who has a son at almost the same age as you?

I don’t understand why Nero/V is incest while Nero/Dante is not. Or remember all the Dante/Vergil fanarts/doujins. There were even RPs back then!

I think the main difference is that in the above mentioned ships the characters are really the characters, with their past, their mindsets and their beliefs. In my opinion, V is different, because he was introduced in DMC 5, seems to have no idea what Vergil did in Fortuna, and wants to be his own person.

I also want him to be his own person and the fact that he can survive without Urizen, if you defeat him in the first fight, makes it canon.

This is why I ship him. I want to see him happy and to give him a chance to love.

And like, you can’t justify this. This relationship isn’t seen as bad at any point in time. It is actually portrayed as a healthy, loving relationship, and is practically the only canon couple in Jojo who actually gets to be in a happy, loving relationship. And this is ignoring every other 20+ year old who wants to bang her, and in one case it is STILL seen as a pure, healthy, loving thing.

Like, seriously. What made THIS the show the one you fight for your right to tell living human beings that they should die because they think the dynamic of two characters who just happen to have an age gap is cute? 

Most of the time, people AREN’T shipping them because of their age, they’re shipping them because they’re cute together. They could literally be born on the exact same day, at the exact same hour, at the exact same second and it wouldn’t stop the people who ship them from shipping them because ??? holy shit maybe they just don’t care about the age and care about the dynamics the characters have???????

Finally, it’s nobody’s damn job to cater to you. I wasn’t born on this earth to make sure that fucking Samantha Willis was comfortable at all times and that I never did anything that upset them. You choose what you do and what you don’t do. If there’s too much shit on tumblr that makes you upset, you either set it up to where you avoid it the best you can, or you get off. You can’t come into ANYONE’S blog and make them do what you want.

I don’t like incest, huge age gaps, r*pe, and other shit, but NOBODY HAS TIME TO CARE ABOUT THAT SHIT WHEN YOU CAN JUST IGNORE IT AND NOT TELL AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING TO STOP EXISTING JUST BECAUSE THE WORLD WAS “CLEARLY” MADE FOR YOU, AND ONLY YOU? And before you say “Well tumblr’s blocking system is stupid.” You are 100% correct. it’s stupid, tumblr is a stupid site, so once again, if you can’t handle it, you get off of it. It’s your job to take care of yourself. It’s not mine or anyone else’s.
