These feelings towards you

Knowing nothing will become of it

Saddens me completely

I feel you in my bones

To touch you the way I imagined

To protect you

For you to hold

At least our friendship is intact

Cracked but time will heal

Maybe I’ll get another chance

Some days were hotter than others

We came out charred

But no worse for wear

We kept each other alive

Without knowing

Burning with you brought me back

I’m forever grateful for you

No words needed

You confirmed the delusion

I feel hollow

Empty

I try to wear happy masks

You see straight through them

I wish I never kissed you

But I’m glad I did

I can move forward

You are still my template

From the walls I built

To protect my own heart

It has been broken countless times

You handle it with care

Slowly filling the cracks in the glass

That were caused by a tortured boy

Who showed me what I thought was real

The physical and mental harm

Can never be forgotten

But you have healed me in ways

Never thought possible

How it was accidental

These feelings are new

This feels real

This feels natural

As the water around us rose

It’s getting higher

Almost to your chin

The water gets higher

Over your head now

Up to my chin

I pray please let us make it

I take a deep breath

Never letting go

I hold onto you as the water comes above me

It feels like an eternity

I feel you slipping away

I grab at you desperately

I don’t want you to get swept away

As quickly as the water rose

It receded

We gasp for breath

All I know is that it did

It became clear to me

That love is not what I thought it was

She changed my entire perception

Love is not supposed to be forced

Let it happen naturally

The most beautiful thing to occur to me

I thank her

There will never be another like her

She would become the one that got away

But I do hope that she stays

She makes me happy in my bones

And the moon loves the stars

Her ethereal aura captivates me

Neither of us believe in a god

Talk to the moon
