Stress wasnât an uncommon factor in Hermione Grangerâs life. It was something that sheâd dealt with for as long as she could remember. She always stressed over minor details. She was a perfectionist. She paid attention to the fine details. She was a know-it-all and that made her insufferable. At this point, she was sure that sheâd heard it all. When sheâd set her sights on the position of Minister of Magic, she estimated the stressors that would come along with it. The long nights, the early mornings, the tough decisions that would have to be made. She had calculated the stressors, but it was that and so much more.Â
She came into the office early. Before the sun had risen in the sky. Or maybe sheâd never left the night before. The hours were seeming to drag on and there didnât seem to be enough coffee in the world. Hermione read over the fourth proposal in a row before the lines began to blur together. Cup of coffee in one hand and a quill stashed somewhere in her hair, she looked up to find someone standing in her doorway. Where was her secretary? Hermione made a mental note to speak to whomever it was this week.Â
âCan I help you?â She asked politely, despite the slight annoyance she was feeling. It was just the stress talking. Being interrupted during her work day wasnât anything new. âTo what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?âÂ
Hermione was clearly not Lavenderâs favorite person, in fact Lavender might say itâs Hermione who causes her the most stress. Usually, Lavender wouldnât be able have just waltzed in here but with the secretary not here and Lavender was passing her office anyway, Lavender knew to seize the chance.Â
Lavender plotted a stack of papers that were tied together that she was carrying onto Hermioneâs desk and was glaring.Â
âItâs so rare the Minister of Magicâs door is open, so much for the open door policy, hm?â she said, her smile clearly fake. âI was just on my way to another meeting I had when I saw this chance and couldnât help myself- hoping you could answer questions directly instead of having your interns wave questions away.â She held up her finger, âFirst, how is it possible youâd really put into Law the exact opposite law of what the British Wizarding Front is trying to accomplish- donât think think itâs better to make friends then a bunch of enemies? Or is it true that muggles are actually dangerous so you are trying to âprotectâ the public?â she questioned.Â
