reagan turned to give her younger brother a pointed look, clearly not condoning his tone or aggression. “everett, play nice.” she pleaded lightly. her relationship with everett was a bit complicated seeing as when he was only 3, she was shipped away to live with aunt donna across the atlantic. but, like her elder siblings did for her, she made an effort to at least check in every once and a while, still sent him christmas and birthday presents, and still loved him unconditionally like any big sister should. “maybe they just think you’re cute” she offered with a shrug, attempting in anyway to diffuse the situation.

Reagan had always been so distant - despite the fact that she was the sibling closest in age to him, and Everett didn’t even notice it was her until he looked over (not knowing what her voice sounded like). “Come on, Reagan. I’m just having a bit of fun.” He rolled his eyes but he was still smiling. “Everyone thinks I’m cute, it’s nothing new.”

“Trust me, I’ve been to court enough times to know what I’m talking about.” Everett had, in fact, never been to court. But he had taken a course in law at one point, and had gotten a C so, that was basically the same thing, right? “Fucking try me.”

“It is not pretending to know. I am not some charlatan. Fate talks to me, more than most.” 

“Whatever you want to tell yourself.” Everett rolled his eyes. “Lets see what you got.”

“I’m what?” Althea raised her eyebrows at Everett in shock and confusion. “Uh, no. I’m very much alive, always have been.”

“No- I... I went to your funeral. I swear.” 

“What are you going to do?”

“Do you really want to know?”

“Let’s not threaten people. It makes mom look bad.”

“Nothing I do is going to make mom look bad, Theora.”

“Are you threatening an officer?” Cissie’s tone is dangerous, a tight-lipped response meaning that she refuses to take shit from a child. God, if this was her child, Cissie would have taken away whatever she was currently paying for and deduced her child to a flip phone without internet. Then again, this wasn’t Cissie’s child and Helen was just over a year old. “Let me rephrase that question, do you or do you not want to rephrase what you were just saying?”

“An officer? So now we’re abusing positions of power?” Everett crosses his arms. He’s not afraid of her. Has never had any reason to respect authority or even to listen. What would she do - shoot him? Everett used his whiteness as a shield, and his parents money to fix what he couldn’t get out of. “I’m sorry -- could you rephrase that? With maybe a wider vocabulary?”

“why would you want to, mate?” forget answering the question that the younger boy posed - the more important question here, at least in adrian’s eyes, was why on EARTH everett would even want to look like a sexy reindeer. maybe it was just a weird everett thing. maybe, he was just too old to be entirely in touch with the youth of today. adrian wasn’t sure - hence, the question. “is this what birds like now’days?” 

“It’s the newest fashion trend - There’s no need to be such a prude, Adrian.”

It was fun to pretend, fun to pretend to be worried about people, fun to pretend that she was some sort of angel. “I didn’t mean to stare,” Her voice is soft and gentle as she others the other a soft smile. “You have something on your shirt. I have a Tide pen if you want to try it. Just don’t try and smoke it,  there’s enough news stories about the Tide Pod Challenges.”

“I don’t need your pity.” Everett was taken aback by her kindness. His angry facade - for a moment. Then he lets it down. “Oh - thanks.” She was cute. If not a little too soft for him.

“I wasn’t, but hey- if you swing that way.” Adrian rolled his eyes. “Now, see - that’s a direct threat. Better not make good on that or it’s premeditated murder.”

“Since when did it become a crime to look at people?”

“Never said it was a crime, did I?”
