maybe, truth, being able to accomplish that threshold with non shippy writing is a bigger flex than with ships. I feel like in smut especially, that content does most of the “heavy lifting” - you need less technical skills to engage a reader bc the canon material has already done the work to make the reader desire to engage with that sort of content.

And it’s frustrating because, while I won’t claim to be the greatest writer, id have a hard time believing the writing or anything else is off-putting tbh, I put in effort to make that not a thing, on purpose. It’s more exactly what I said - they clicked expecting to dive into some crack or shit without any build up, not expecting to try to write something the way it should ideally be written

and it shows too when I see only 6 put kudos, and out of 6, 3 bookmarked. That’s half. Since when ever do I get that high of bookmarks to kudos. Never. It’s because the people who clicked bc they wanted to try it and tried it probably actually did like what they read

bc i feel stressed out remembering that the things i want to write are not popular and not what people want to see done

however I just like writing and if I let myself get absorbed in it I might forget and the process of writing might feel better
