Green Tea
Green Tea is EPIC.
Study after study has shown the positive effects of green tea in the body, on the skin, and even in hair. From protecting against skin cancer to reversing heart disease, Green Tea is something that should be added to your shopping list and should be in your skin care.
INSIDE THE BODY
Tea isnât just for the elderly or intellectuals. From Lipton to Snapple to Honest Tea the flavors for tea have been promoted by beverage companies for many years. But tea is more than just something to satiate your thirst. Tea can make you healthier and Green Tea goes further by counteracting the effects of aging inside the body, protecting cells from free radicals and reducing the levels and stickiness of bad cholesterol. Green tea has large amounts of polyphenols, specifically EGCG, that have been shown to have anticancer, antibacterial and antiviral properties. Because it has less caffeine than coffee, or even black tea, you get the alertness without the jitters. The low caffeine amount with a naturally occurring amino acid called L-theanine works to improve brain function. Studies have shown that Green Tea increases fat burning and boosts the metabolic rate. It even reduces bad breath! I could go on and on about the benefits of Green Tea. If youâd like to learn more, check out this article in Authority Nutrition.
Obviously, the easiest way to get the antioxidant benefits of green tea in your diet is to drink it. It is available in loose leaf form or tea bags as well as already brewed and bottled. Bottled green tea is often sweetened so pay close attention to the amount of added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Most medical studies involving green tea concluded that you get the most benefit by consuming at least 4 cups per day. If it sounds hard to squeeze in that many servings of a beverage, consider matcha green tea which is also available in powdered form and has lots of creative uses. It can be mixed with your favorite fruit juice, blended into a smoothie or stirred into yogurt with fruit, nuts and granola.
