Here's a compilation of most of the little 'thank you' doodles I made from when I was selling my keychains!
To all the owners of a Pie original- Thank you so much for the support! Making these thank you cards was my favorite part of the packaging process :^) lmao
tired of the debbie hate. yes shes a fucked up person who did terrible shit but she shows up when needed. she called out lip when he started drinking too much. told mickey to stop trying to drink ian away. pulled up and convinced everyone to help find a place to host ian and mickey's wedding and faked cried in the kitchen for 45 min so they could get married. she came forward and helped!! she has good fucking intentions. shes better then frank in every possible way. be like debbie. show up and pull your family out of their asses when needed.
I think there is a reason we donât see any of the season 3 sleepover aside from them choosing a movie. For the whole show up to that point, they hadnât been allowed any privacy or space to be with each other. Everytime they meet up itâs in public with the risk of someone walking in, but for once itâs in the safety (ignoring the next morning) of Mickeyâs empty house. Theyâre given privacy for one night which includes privacy from the audience too, which is why we arenât allowed to see any of it.
Mickey doesn't get sick, and even if he did, so what? He can handle himself, always has, right? Enter Ian Gallagher, the first person to ever actually care about what he needs and wants. The first person to ask, "You sure?"
A/N: Emetophobia warning. Set in S2, Mickeyâs âYou think weâre boyfriend and girlfriend here?â era. Heâs security at the Kash 'n' Grab still despite that in this. Feverish Mickey says some things that get Ian's heart racing.
-----------------------------------
Mickey's head throbs harshly as the morning light all but strobes through his window. Terry, ever the inconsiderate asshole, is downstairs yelling at his older brothers for some shit he honestly does not give a fuck about at this particular moment. Although, no one can really blame him when his vision blurs and his stomach twists with a hellish nausea that puts any hangover he's ever had to shame.
It's this nausea that brings him out of bed, rushing towards the bathroom beside his bedroom with an urgency one would associate more with a criminal running from the cops rather than a young guy who's just unwell.
After he ejects the contents of his stomach, he pushes through the vertigo and the fuzzy, heavy feeling that's settled into his body, and grabs his Kash 'n' Grab Security jacket, fortifying himself for what he knows is about to be a gruelling eight hours. His walk to work is a short one on an average day, but it takes him exponentially longer today, for obvious reasons.
"Mickey! You're late!" Comes Linda's voice from the loudspeaker, "You're lucky I don't write you up. Your PO would kick your ass."
Usually, he'd have some sort of comeback, but not today. He can't muster the energy to even comment on how little he gives a fuck about the job.
Ian, who's been stocking shelves, turns to the door when he hears Linda telling off Mickey. He notes the older guy's dishevelled appearance (well, more so than usual), the red flush he's sporting, and the glazed over look in his eye. They haven't exactly been on good terms since Frank found them out, but before he can stop himself, he asks a quiet question.
"You good, Mick?"
"Fuck off, Gallagher. I'm fine." The older boy says, "Just drank too much last night or some shit, I dunno."
Ian moves to put a hand on Mickey's forehead, but hesitates, before deciding 'fuck it' and doing it anyway. Mickey all but leans into his touch, which worries Ian, as he was expecting some abrasive comment or a threat. He's warm, though, almost concerningly so.
"You sure, Mick?"
"The fuck you care for?" Mickey snaps, but deep down he's just surprised Ian still gives a damn after what he'd said to him a few weeks back. Just the act of Ian asking, bothering with him, has his chest flooding with a warmth he hasn't felt before with anyone. A warmth that scares him.
"For starters, looks like you're either about to pass out or puke everywhere, and I'd very much prefer you did neither." Ian says calmly, ignoring the aggression in Mickey's tone, "You're also really warm, so my bet is a fever?"
"So? Gotta work, man. My PO would throw me right back in fuckin' juvie if I lost this job." Mickey frowns, running a hand through his hair, which is now slick with sweat. A byproduct of the fever wrecking his body.
"Mickey, come on. You won't lose your job for going home sick," Ian pleads with him, "Just go, rest or whatever."
"Nowhere to go or I would."
"Could come to mine?"
It's a tentative question, one Ian is expecting an almost immediate rejection to, so he's incredibly surprised when Mickey's response is a quiet, "You sure, man? Don't wanna, I don't know, be a burden or intrude or whatever."
This is a softer, more vulnerable side to Mickey. One no one ever sees, and Ian's scared Mickey will retreat if he's too rash, so he just says, "Yeah. Fiona works tonight, Lip's at school, and the kids will probably fuck off somewhere tonight, too."
"Yeah, okay.." Is Mickey's response. He's succumbing to the illness a lot faster than he'd like, letting his guard down with Ian more than he ever has.
A bit later, after talking Linda into letting them both leave, Ian walks Mickey to the Gallagher house. When they enter, Mickey looks around, almost enamoured by how homey and safe it feels there, with the family photos and knickknacks scattered around.
He's never been here before, Ian realises. He doesn't know what home is supposed to feel like, what love and safety are. Ian just watches Mickey for a second, letting the boy take it all in before he says, "Come on, Mick. Lay down for a bit," and leads him to the couch, "You hungry? Could make some soup or something?" He asks.
"Fuck no," Mickey groans, "Stomach's all gross. Probably gonna puke." Ian looks on at him as he gets comfortable on the Gallagher's couch before moving to grab the kitchen trash and setting it next to him.
"Well, I got some stuff I gotta do, so I'll leave you be for a bit." Ian starts to head upstairs before he hears Mickey's voice,
"Ian?" He's surprised. Mickey exclusively calls him 'Gallagher'.
"Yeah?"
"Come here. Just for a minute."
Ian's frozen in shock for few seconds before he makes his way back to where Mickey's laying on the couch, "You okay?" He asks as he sits next to him.
"Dunno. Just thinking."
"About?"
"You."
That single word hits Ian like a truck, "What about me?" He almost whispers.
"You care too much about me. Don't deserve it, man. Don't deserve you."
"Not true, Mick. We're good." Ian says. "You're feverish, try and sleep it off before you say something you regret."
"You make me feel things I didn't know were possible, Gallagher. Can't just turn that off. I don't know what I want, but I know I want you."
Ian almost chokes on air when he hears that, but plays it off, "C'mon, Mick. Get some sleep."
Mickey will never admit what he just said is true, but Ian knows.

Note: I used to write a lot when I was a teenager, wanna get back into it, here's hoping I haven't lost it! Anyways, sneak peek below! full fic coming!
Mickey doesn't get sick. At least, that's what he says. Ian, however, can always see through him.
"Mick, you good?"
"Fuck off, Gallagher. I'm fine." The older man says, "Just drank too much last night or some shit, I dunno."
Ian moves to put a hand on Mickey's forehead, but hesitates, before deciding 'fuck it' and doing it anyway. Mickey all but leans into his touch, which worries Ian, as he was expecting some abrasive comment or a threat. He's warm, though, almost concerningly so.
ian being the hesitant one about getting married actually make zero sense to me. in season three he literally is talking about his big of a deal marriage is to him in episode 11. it wouldâve made so much more sense for mickey to be the one hesitant on getting married considering his trauma with marriage. i truly donât understand why the writers refuse to engage with mickeyâs trauma at all
THATS SO REAL. i feel like the writers completely mischaracterized their own characters by the last couple seasons. Watching that scene where Ian was hesitant on marriage always made me so uncomfortable because like you said, Mickey getting married in season three was one of the main reasons why Ianâs character started changing negatively leading to him showing more signs of bipolar, and Mickey and Ianâs emotional separation. And also not to mention in the Hall of Shame, the whole scene where Mickey is making fun of Ians bipolar? and in the later seasons, when Terry died, they made Ian make a joke out of the whole thing? itâs so out of character and it pisses me off that this show went from being so relatable, deep, and analytical to just being silly. It was always kind of a comedy, but they deadass took the character-changing situations and made them in to a joke in the later seasons.
the way the later seasons minimized Mickeyâs trauma & basically treated it like a joke will never fail to piss me off. who tf thought it was a good idea to take a man crying over the death of his abusive father who tormented him his entire life & turn it into a joke and have his husband act as if heâs being ridiculous??? ffs
ntm then bringing up mickeyâs fear of being a father and turning out like his dad but COMPLETELY ignoring that mickey is already a dad to a kid born under extremely traumatic circumstances. yea I know itâs normal for shameless to just act like characters never existed after they leave but COME ONNNN
even the marriage storyline like could mickey maybe have been able to talk about the fact that heâd already BEEN married in a very traumatic situation and that HE might also have insecurities that make him feel unlovable no??????? nope apparently not
Thereâs lots of times the writers seem to write like âwouldnât it be funny ifâŚ..â without thinking if it works for the characters. Itâs like they were writing for a straightforward comedy show but Shameless isnât that. Itâs also a drama that explores some very serious subjects. And if youâre gonna write about these things, youâve got to explore the long term impacts of these things. Which they do sometimes but not with everything, especially when it comes to Mickey.
I do think there is something realistic in the fact that Ian struggles to understand Mickeyâs very complicated feelings towards Terry. But they could have showed that without framing it like a joke. I read somewhere on here that Cameron said they filmed something that showed Ian being more caring (canât remember exactly what he said) so itâs frustrating that in the final edit they didnât choose that version.
I think it does make sense that Mickey would not talk about Yev but I really think Ian would bring him up. I know they both struggle to communicate with each other sometimes but I feel if Ian wanted to talk about kids, he would start with talking about Yev. E.g. asking if Mickey knows where Svetlana and Yev are. It feels like the writers were trying to hint at Yev without saying it - âneglected Milkovich baby crawling aroundâ âwe could steal oneâ (canât remember the exact lines) but I donât think that makes sense for Ian to talk like that. He would probably just come right out and ask Mickey about Yev.
It totally feels sometimes like they were not thinking deeply about the characters or the previous canon.
Itâs me againâŚiâm back in my shameless phase and i STILL love ian so if any of my old mutuals see this, pls put stuff in my inbox for hot takes and stuff I WANNA YAP!! LEMME YAP ABOUT SHAMELESS!!

Even if Mickey had never come back, none of Ianâs relationships in the show or even after wouldâve worked out long term because Mickey is the only person that truly knows Ian and heâs the only one that Ian could ever truly be himself around.
Ian changed himself to fit into a mold of what he felt Caleb & Trevor wanted. He wanted to hide the ugly parts of his life from them. To Ian, these shiny new relationships that were separated from the South Side and his past, were a way to hide those ugly parts of his life from himself. He wanted to move on from his past and every thing that happened in seasons 4 and 5. And he also wanted a better life for himself than what heâd had, because Ianâs always been ambitious and always wanted a way out from where he was. To Ian, a relationship with a ânormalâ guy who didnât grow up like him was a way to do that.
But because of this he was never his full true self around them. He was always just playing a part for them (and himself) and keeping the things he wanted hidden, hidden. Through that he was able to hide things from himself too.
But Mickey grew up with him. Mickeyâs life was just as messy, if not more so, than Ianâs. He understands Ian better than anyone. He saw first hand all the messy parts of Ian and still loved him. Even with all his insecurities that stemmed from his diagnosis, Ian never felt like he had to hide himself or change himself around Mickey. He was always just himself.
Even though itâs Mickey who says âI donât do normal, Gallagher,â the truth is - neither does Ian. A ânormalâ relationship never wouldâve satisfied Ian long term.
If Mickey had never come back Ian wouldâve continued to do this with every new guy he dated and they all eventually wouldâve ended because of this. Mickey is the only person that he doesnât have to act with. Heâs always able to just be himself.
We don't talk about how Frank bringing monica back into the kids' lives was likely a purposeful manipulation tactic. He often uses the fact that monica comes and goes as a way to one up in arguments. They hate monica more because "at least Frank stuck around."
Monica had every right to leave imo, Frank forced her to keep fiona and literally hand cuffed her to the bed to stop her from aborting Carl. If monica had left and never came back no one would hate her nearly as much ( u can imagine it as she stayed up till liams born or that she just stops coming back for liam my point it still the same.) It's because she comes back and messes things up again and again that adds salt to the wound. Every time she leaves again, it pushes the kids closer to Frank.
Frank seeks validation in being a father. Making sure he's the favourite parent, disregarding fiona, is a good way to get that. He brings her back when he's feeling insecure
for the hot take thingie- kev was a terrible husband who had abusive and DV vibes and for a second one- they treated svetlana TERRIBLE and she deserved so much better
i donât think that only kev was terrible, both kev and v were pretty bad husband and wife to each other. they shouldâve never gotten married. like, they had a whole arc where they cheated on eachother, TWICE! i feel like the writers just kind of gave up on them towards the end. they were a great couple and so strong at the beginning of the series, and then they just got progressively more toxic. also this is kind of off topic but i HATE that kev proposed to v at ianâs wedding. đanywaysâŚ
i fully agree with the statement that svetlana deserved better. they had a right to be mad when she tricked them into signing the paperwork for the bar, but they kind of did that to themselves. svetlana was way too smart for them and evidently, they got too insecure, especially v. she called ice on svet too? for what? taking the bar you were BARELY taking care of on your own? i was pretty upset about that. i also never liked the whole thing where v was in love with svetlana. itâs just so out of character for her to love anyone else besides kev. but anywho, im really glad svet got the ending she wanted and deserved but kev and v were so bitter to her toward the end of it. all she wanted was a better life.
nice takes btw!! i donât see many people talk about how unhappy kev and vâs married was. especially on kevs part.

I could talk about how important the s10 marriage certificate storyline was and how important it was for Mickey to stand his ground and walk away from Ian outside Byronâs house and how that was ultimately a good thing for their dynamic for HOURS I swear to god
