changing your environment / surroundings is so real and good for you... clean up the annoying visual clutter, paint a wall, hang up some art, vacuum clean and then light a candle... just change whatever is bothering you . like that sounds like such basic advice but it's important to recognize just how hugely the look/feel/smell of your surroundings influence your life!! and that you have the ability to change it!!!

i don't care that laws meant to exterminate teans women sometimes affect cis women too. i dont care if transmisogyny peripherally harms cis women in the process. i am the subject being criminalized. i am the intended target. that other women may be harmed in the crossfire only serves to underline the world of shit trans women in america are in.

the moment my patience with "transmisogyny affects cis women too" stories started to wane was a couple years back when a cisgender middle aged woman in florida was mistaken for a trans woman by police in an arrest and placed in an all men's jail cell. and the reaction is as you expected and it's like. it becomes national news when a cis woman is accidentally sent to a men's jail for a very brief period of time, but for trans women, it's standard procedure. if you're a trans woman, even if you have your legal gender changed on all of your documents, there is still a very high likelihood you will be sent to a men's facility. even if trans women are initially sent to a women's facility, they might be relocated to a men's one as punishment for prisonplace infractions, where they are sexually assaulted and often pimped as sex slaves by both the inmates and the staff. that does not make news. that does not make headlines. every trans woman in this country - doubly for trans women of color - has it etched into their mind what will happen to them should they be incarcerated. that threat is always looming over our heads. but it's only when a middle aged cisgender florida mom gets hurt that journalists and the media cares.
