Why, as a woman, I am not a feminist.
1. I don’t think it’s fair to compare ourselves to men. We both have strengths and weaknesses, individually and as a group.
2. Not everything that pops up in the media has to do with politics, and when it is forced on there, it’s stupid.
3. Saying that there needs to be more women in powerful positions defeats the purpose of what it means to be successful. Just because you put a women into a large seat in a company or Congress, doesn’t mean she’ll be successful and vice versa for men! People who show that they can take on those big tasks should be considered due to other factors, like how they interact with others around them, their policies, their reasoning skills, and how well they understand their position, should be considered. Being a women or man shouldn’t be a factor.
4. The grass is always greener on the other side. Men have it hard in other ways as well, just like there are instances where women have it hard. It’s all about perspective.
5. I don’t want to feel like the world is against me, when really, I would be hurting myself and others by convincing them and myself that this is “us against the world”.
6. Our society is so concerned about being politically correct, some large companies are trying to hire for diversity reasons rather than by skill level and that’s more racist than progressive.
7. People are more concerned with diversity then the actual contents of entertainment, and because of that, the quality goes down. Take Marvel comics as an example.
8. We’re more concerned about how women are sexualized, but yet I see men constantly sexualized as much as women.
