Melinda Halliwell

“As soon as–,” the Doctor started to answer, and then froze when he felt the telepathic brush against his mind. Brown eyes widened, met Melinda’s. “Oh yes, I felt that. And I don’t like it.”

It wasn’t him, wasn’t his Ship. That there was another strong telepath around somewhere… he really didn’t like that. 

The Time Lord muttered a Gallifreyan curse, turned. “Back to the TARDIS,” he snapped over his shoulder at Melinda. “Now.”

However there wasn’t enough time, a tall and lean man had Melinda by the throat.    It’s voice was a harsh whisper.   “Oh what a delightful treasure you have.    An empath of all things here, and so delightful.   “No need to leave, we would like to have you for dinner.”

“Yeah, I know. I’m working on a plan to make sure telling her is safe, remembering past lives can get-messy. Persephone was powerful, and she was less volatile than some of the other’s but according to Hades she…had her moments, if her memories are woken up suddenly with no preparation it could fracture Sophie’s mind and soul.” What Melinda didn’t need to know was the extent of that plan, and how central she was to it.

”Didn’t I hear that Kieran and Alicia are getting divorced?” Cerberus left head cocked to the side at the fact that Kieran’s name being mentioned twice, he knew that something was wrong because it’d been so long since he’d been home. No one had said what it was. He wasn’t exactly the most intelligent creature, but he was about as smart as the average 5 year old.

“You know what? Never mind-” He could deal with how much harder it would make his plan if it wasn’t true later. “Cerberus, I found Mommy but someone took her.” Suddenly the three headed canine stood at attention and turned to look at Nicholas, a small whimper and then a low growl coming out of his throats. It seemed to echo due to coming from all three of his heads.

“They’ll work it out,” Melinda said, she didn’t know if she believed or not but she had already lost hope of Kieran noticing her and she refused to be the reason of a break up.    So she would make sure he was healthy by the end of this so he could see his family again.    “We need to make sure no fractures then.” She agreed.   

“Not exactly, I had them since I took over the Underworld in that life. But they always liked Persephone more than they liked me and could find her wherever she went, and they know The Underworld better than-well even me probably. They’ll be able to track her down, we’ll just have to hope that Selene was stupid enough to have them together.”

The trick would be keeping up with him once he told the three headed dog what he needed him for, he was likely to run off the second that he got the scent of her soul. And well he would be able to keep track of him with his enhanced hearing? He would prefer that he not burst into whatever trap Selene was sure to have laying in wait on his own.

“It’s in the Queen DNA to be worriers,” Gabe lifted Melinda’s hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to her knuckles.  He knew his Dad worried about his Mom every day, even when they’d been together half their lives; until Melinda had walked into that bar that night he’d never really thought he’d feel that way about anyone.  “You hungry? I’ll cook, or order takeout, whatever you want - and it looks pretty quiet on the crimefighting front tonight, so you have my undivided attention for back rubs, foot rubs, belly rubs - “ he grinned and gently patted her belly, “ - anything you need.”

“Do you even have to ask, Mels?” Chris shot back to his sister. “I once scattered an Elder’s orbs and sent him to Valhalla, remember?” He smirked, enjoying the looks on the Elders’ faces.

Goddess, these witches were even worse than the Whitelighter Elders in his home universe, and that was saying something since witches in this universe were all-female.

“So, Darklighters?” he asked casually, knowing the answer but wanting to double-check with Melinda.

Damon bristled at the word contained and opened his mouth for a sharp retort at for the greater good, but Melinda beat him to it. And then she was walking over to him, kissing him…

Shock had him freezing for a moment before he found himself returning the kiss, his hands almost immediately resting on her waist. Dimly he was aware of shouts of horror from the elder witches, of Chris facepalming right after glaring daggers at the two of them.

Damon didn’t care. Though as much as he slightly resented being referred to as the Halliwells’ Darklighter (he wasn’t a pet, thank you very much), it was certainly better than the alternative. And besides, he liked the reminder that the three of them were in this together, and Mels had no intention of leaving him behind.

When the kiss was finally broken, he couldn’t resist giving the circle of witches a smug look. Then it sharpened into a glare.  ❠Fahren Sie zur Hölle, meine Damen.❝

Melinda didn’t speak any german but she felt the rage from him, and she could get the over all feeling.    It was odd, she was no empath but she understood.   “About time blow this pop stand.” She commented.    “Hey Chris how good is your remote orbing?” She called to him and could see the witches become confused and unsure.     They didn’t know how to handle Halliwells, they were wild cards.    It should be impossible to them that a male had powers.
