The self concept duology. These two movies show the best possible scenario of not remembering the past: they become the hero they think they were meant to be. At least for a while.
i contain multitudes. i believe ryland grace is aroace but on the other hand i want him. these two thoughts live their seperate lives.

Fiyeraba parallels (10/?) ━ "Are you coming?" / "I'm going with her."
Fiyero’s interactions with the two witches:
Glinda: Cold. Distant. Bored. Miserable: Opposite of her.
Elphaba: Playful. Happy. Physically close. Love: mirrored in her.
"An organizational psychologist, Adam Grant, sent me a message saying, “It’s a masterful portrayal of superficiality masking depth.” Out of all the things I’ve heard, that is the thing I’m going to get printed on a T-shirt."
- Jonathan Bailey for W Magazine interviewed by Max Gao
I love Fiyero so much
What do you mean he always saw beauty in Elphaba?
What do you mean he said she didn't need to be galindified???
What do you mean he saw life as pointless until Elphaba comes into his???
What do you mean he was always rebellious but never in a really meaningful way until Elphaba gives him courage????
What do you mean he cared about the animals because she cared and jump into action the moment he had an opportunity???
What do you mean he stayed loyal to his girlfriend at the time but also make sure to demonstrate how much he appreciates Elphie and was proud of her going to make her dream come true?
What do you mean he heard Madam Morrible speech and didn't believe a single word despite not even had been there to really know?????
What do you mean he immediately jumps on his horse and ride from Shiz to Emerald City IN A HEARTBEAT??? Just to find her!!!
And when he learns she ran away, he stayed and play pretend for FIVE YEARS just to have a single chance to reach her????
Just to run away WITH her????
And then give himself up to the government he betrayed just to save her once again????
And she was the person who made him remember who he was after the scarecrow transformation????
And he still loves her and didn't judge her for the way she tried to save his life???
Not ONCE did he thought she was wicked??????
Damn
P.S: just watched Wicked For Good and the way he was SHACKING in fear to leave everything behind, knowing his life would be so much easier marrying Glinda, and yet, losing Elphaba again would be worse than torture and death!!! THAT'S MY MAN 🫵🏻
"Well, I don't think of her as a wicked witch."

Fiyero Tigelaar's Foolproof Plan For How to Get A Gorgeous Green Witch to Fall In Love With You:
Almost run her over with your Horse and then charmingly apologize after
Contrive some kind of festivity or occasion where you can showcase your key strengths (i.e. dancing on tables, shelf acrobatics, looking handsome - always on)
Figure out ways to showcase your other key assets (i.e. flop hair carelessly in front of her in odd occasions, take off shirt whenever possible, etc.)
Find out what she cares about. Learn that you care about it, too.
Get her to a private, secluded, romantic location for a little heart to heart.
Try to eliminate layers of clothing as soon as you can. Showcase how strong and veiny your fore-arms are. Girls love those.
Try not to be too shocked when you realize she can read you like a book.
Run away to safety. Stay.
Resolve to tell her how you feel.
Support her on her big day. Give her a token that shows her how you feel. Make sure it is something explicit, like a letter. Not something vague, like a flower......................
If she runs away or goes off into hiding, do everything in your power to find her. EVERYTHING.
No sacrifice is too great to keep her safe.
The water rumor is disgusting and utterly stupid, but it has its benefits. Use it to your advantage.
Maybe don't go through with getting married to someone you don't even love.
When you see her again, make sure you don't lose her. Make sure she never doubts that you will choose her, over and over again. Over everything else.
She has been living a solitary life, thinking she was alone in her suffering. Make sure she never feels alone ever again.
Do everything you can to let her see her how beautiful she is.
Get over your fear of heights.
Don't let her fight alone.
If necessary, lay down your life for her. Hope she can read in your eyes how much you love her. Pray that she will never be in danger again.
When you wake up, and you don't feel the bones in your body, when you wake up and you realize you cannot breathe, when you wake up and the heart that had been beating for her is no longer beating, realize you never needed any of those things to love and protect her anyway.
You have only one mission now. Find her. Protect her. Keep her safe always. (You've owed her your life even then. What is one more debt to pay?)
Now with a companion piece.
Elphaba Thropp's Tried and Tested Strategies to Avoid Falling in Love with the Handsome Prince Who Sees You A Little Too Well
Don't let him run you over with his horse. Much less accept a ride from him. These kinds of things set a dangerous precedence. He will definitely give up after that.
Draw the line at library vandalism. If this man steps on books, step on his heart. It's only fair.
When your roommate tells you to "talk to boys more," she doesn't mean him. Just because he seems to be watching you far more often than you initially thought, and just because he suddenly stops dancing on tables and ruining books doesn't mean a thing.
Don't think about him watching you toss your hair. His smile is amused, not besotted.
Don't let your eyes linger when he takes his shirt off, no matter how golden his skin looks, or how the sun's shadows dance on his chest, or how the cords of muscle move in his forearms when he chops wood.
Don't think too much about why your magic doesn't seem to work on him. Why it never seems to work on him.
Don't burden him with your honesty. Don't show him that you've been watching him a little closer than even you maybe realized.
It's just a scratch. He will live. Your hand doesn't need to linger like that, like it wants to touch more, like it wants to heal more than the shallow scrape of a lion cub's paws. You're just a girl. And he's just a boy who was not made for you.
Don't wish. Don't start. Wishing only wounds the heart. You know this. Repeat this to yourself often.
Avoid lingering on doorways and side posts, watching him with eyes that want. He is not waiting for you, or looking for you, or whatever your imagination is telling you he must be doing. He's not. This is the safer thought to think.
There's no point standing at the train station waiting for him to come. You barely even know each other.
Okay, so he does come. Big deal. A poppy is just a poppy, not a symbol, or a hidden message, or a promise he can't say out loud. It's just a flower.
Figure out how to keep it alive anyway. Because some days even the silly dream of an innocent girl is better company than the hollow emptiness of fighting alone, every single day.
Don't wish for him. Don't whisper his name in the darkness when you are alone and you touch yourself, hoping to feel something, anything. It is only your own skin, your own blankets, the dark, vast coolness of the woods.
On desperate days, don't wish you'd get caught just so that he could find you, just so you can see his face again. It won't be worth the look of disdain in his face, won't be worth hearing the word Wicked from his lips.
When you find out he's getting married, don't cry. There's no one to hear your tears. There's no difference it could make to the world if you were innocent or not, if things had been different that day, if you had made different choices. What does it matter? Beautiful things only belong to beautiful people.
When he offers to follow you, don't let him. Don't let him fly with you, don't let him into your home, don't let him see the evidence you'd gathered over the years of your own wickedness. Don't let him look at you with pity while your stubborn little heart tries to convince yourself it's love. It's not. It's delusion, the last desperate act of the lonely.
When he kisses you, don't let yourself melt into it. Don't let yourself believe, because... It must be too good to be true. Good things, beautiful, wonderful things don't happen to people like you. They never have.
When he tells you he loves you, shut him up with a kiss. Take the warmth he will offer you and sear it in your memory. Catalogue every inch of skin on skin, every breath, every sigh. Are you listening to me? Remember every single moment. This will be important in the future. You will need this to survive.
When he says goodbye to you in a cornfield... don't go. Don't listen. Don't leave him.
Learn to live with that regret every day. It's your only recourse now.
Nothing matters anymore. Not being good. Not doing right. Not proving anyone right or wrong. Nothing matters except that the world burn for what they've done, for what they've taken from you.
Watch the flames rise and the shadows grow and the mountains scream in terror, and let it blot your heart out with rage, so that there won't be any more room for the pain and the grief and the loneliness.
In your bed, later that night, in this dark, cold, empty castle, you can finally be honest. You can cry yourself to sleep again. You try to recount the memory of that beautiful night, the brightness in his eyes, the warmth in his voice, but the memory is worn from repetition, each image a mirage, blowing away like sand through your fingers.
Pray for a miracle. Surely even the wickedest of people are allowed this much. And you find that even now, despite everything, you still have the strength to dream.
A companion piece to this.
Fiyero:
I sincerely liked the inclusion of Glinda in the classroom scene with the lion because in the musical post-Popular she’s just not there when the lion cub is in the cage and Elphaba puts the class to sleep to save him with Fiyero but in the movie, Glinda is there, and she is put to sleep with the rest of the class while Fiyero isn’t, and it’s such a small but very significant detail of the progression of each character’s arc (Fiyero and Glinda) and how much Elphaba trusts them with. Seeing Glinda wake up alone was a gut punch, even if you understand why Elphaba didn’t trust her yet, even if it was an instinct on Elphaba’s part to exclude her, and it’s really cruel foreshadowing for the end of Act 2, when Elphaba and Fiyero once again leave Glinda behind and out of the loop with the truth of Elphaba being alive—and it enhances the tragedy because this time, at the end, Glinda’s character arc is complete and she should arguably be entrusted with that secret, but the seeds have already been planted so long ago, and now it’s too late
"The only downside of Act II is that Elphaba runs away with Fiyero instead of Glinda."
One thing that Gelphies don't seem to realise is that Glinda WOULDN'T run away with Elphaba. She could ask Elphaba to give up her plans and stay with her (and Elphaba would, if that didn't mean giving up her morals and becoming passive to oppression), but Glinda would not give up her life style for Elphaba, or anyone for that matter.
Like, did you guys not watch it? Glinda had the opportunity to run away with Elphaba several times, but she never did. Elphaba asked her to come with her during Defying Gravity, Fiyero asked her to run away with him so that they could look for Elphaba together and be with her during Thank Goodness, and the way they're talking to each other implies that that wasn't the first time they had this conversation and it also wasn't the first time she chose a lie over the people she loved.
Also, Elphaba and Fiyero were more useful to the Animal cause dead than alive, that's the conclusion they come to at the end, that's why Elphaba makes Glinda promise not to clear her name, because Glinda was the only one who had the power to do something, the biggest power of all: popularity (I've already talked about how every single word Glinda sings in Popular is true). People love Glinda, but they hate Elphaba too much to keep loving her if she associated with her, like they loved Fiyero and now hate him because he chose to love Elphaba. But people could love the Animals if Glinda told them to, so riddle me this: if Glinda left with Elphaba, who would save the Animals? Who would do good? Who would change things?
Elphaba and Fiyero left, not only to be together and in love in peace, but also because they were doing more harm than good by staying. Glinda is the rising Sun of a new Oz. Staying alone and having time to be just by herself and reflect on her actions and finally being Glinda, the Good for real by being a benevolent leader, who stops the Animal genocide and brings Oz back together is her redemption arc. It might not be the happiest ending, but it is the best possible ending for her!
