That’s what careless words do. They make people love you a little less.

Hello. I’ve been following your blog for some time now, and I think it’s great. I’ve got a question about freelance writing. I’m not sure that it’s been covered here before; searched “freelance” in the box, but didn’t get any posts showing up. Anyway, I’m an aspiring novelist, and I’m looking to get into freelance writing, and was wondering if you or any of your readers had some advice. I’m delusion-free - not expecting millions, just something roughly equal to a P/T job. Thanks!
I have to admit, I know very little about this! So I asked the yeah writers and did a little research, and here’s what I came up with:

What straight people don't get
Straight people don’t get how easy it is for them. They never have to worry about whether the other person is ready to be kissed in public. They don’t have to worry about a family member looking at them disgusted. They don’t have to deal with the kids in the family not needing to know, because “ it’s too complicated to understand” They don’t have to come out to every single person they meet. They don’t have to worry about loosing friends by turning them down. They don’t have to worry about losing friends of the same sex because of ignorance. They don’t have to grow up watching literally every show, every couple in their lives be different than their true love. When will people get that it isn’t about politics. It’s about the everyday comfort being stripped bare from us.
I’m just a hopeless romantic, born into world that isn’t easy on my love.
Study-tip The Pomodoro Technique AKA (the 25 min intense focus) The goal of the technique is to reduce the impact of internal and external interruptions on focus and flow. For the purposes of the technique, a Pomodoro is the interval of time spent working. After task completion, any time remaining in the pomodoro is devoted to overlearning. Regular breaks are taken, aiding assimilation. A short (3–5 minutes) rest separates consecutive pomodoros. Four pomodoros form a set. A longer (15–30 minute) rest is taken between sets. There are six stages in the technique: 1. Decide on the task to be done. 2. Set the pomodoro timer to n minutes (traditionally n = 25).[1] 3. Work on the task until the timer rings. If a distraction pops into your head, write it down, but immediately get back on task. 4. After the timer rings, put a checkmark on a piece of paper.[7] 5. If you have fewer than four checkmarks, take a short break (3–5 minutes), then go to step 1. 6. Else (i.e. after four pomodoros) take a longer break (15–30 minutes), reset your checkmark count to zero, then go to step 1. The stages of planning, tracking, recording, processing and visualizing are fundamental to the technique. In the planning phase tasks are prioritized by recording them in a “To Do Today” list. This enables users to estimate the effort tasks require. As Pomodoros are completed, they are recorded, adding to a sense of accomplishment and providing raw data for subsequent self-observation and improvement.

Exams are an opportunity to show your skills, your ambitions, to exhibit your determination and discipline. But if they don’t turn out the way you’d consider successful, that doesn’t mean you’re not skilled or ambitious, determined or disciplined.

Educate yourself. When a question about a certain topic pops up, google it. Watch movies and documentaries. When something sparks your interest, read about it. Read read read. Study, learn, stimulate your brain. Don’t just rely on the school system, educate that beautiful mind of yours.
