The Rocket Science Rule: most new things you want to try seem very complicated but are simple when taken step by step.

The [X] Will Remember That Rule: if you need to make small talk with the same person on a regular basis, try to save one fact or current event in their life from a given conversation and bring it up next time you talk.

This goes for other symptoms as well: although pain can definitely contribute to people’s experiences of these symptoms, fatigue and brain fog are actual migraine symptoms, not just pain symptoms.

literal first paragraph of the wikipedia article for learned helplessness. this is a depression symptom. it is frequently caused by lifelong abuse from controlling authority figures. it is the exact OPPOSITE of an abuse tactic and would most likely be displayed by the WOMEN in that kind of scenario!!

Cool, so you want natural fiber costumes with no/nuanced corset slander, people wearing colors, historical hairstyles, people wearing hats or headcoverings and long sleeves outside during the day, no potatoes or pumpkins in pre-columbian Europe, actors with textured skin and wrinkles, minimal makeup, consulting HEMA groups and weapons scholars for all the weapons and fight scenes, a good soundtrack that includes traditional instruments?

I commonly see the argument in regards to autistic representation, that "we need less of Sheldon Cooper and more of [high-masking, late-diagnosed, queer, hyper-empathy, etc.]"

with the implication that Sheldonesque autism has been represented enough and now it's time for other presentations to get the spotlight.

and while yes, representation of autism in fiction has historically been very limited in the sections of the autism spectrum it has represented, and yes, we desperately need more diversity of all kinds in autism representation...

...do you genuinely think that out of all the times Sheldonesque (or Rain Man-esque, or any other subsection of autism that is often bashed for being overrepresented) autism has portrayed, it has always been portrayed well? it has always been portrayed with respect for the kind of autism portrayed, with dignity towards the autistic people it represents?

it has fucking not. people with "stereotypical" autism presentations have received more time on the silver screen and the page and the telly and the vast, vast majority of it has not been good. we don't need less Sheldon Coopers, we need more Sheldon Coopers who are not bullied by the narrative in addition to the fact that we need more of not-Sheldon Cooper autism.

So it seems some people understood this post as a "perspective trick". I assume that they think I placed the less-visible blocks behind the statue, further away from the camera, so that they disappear somewhat into the fog.

As much as I would like to have been that creative, what I actually did was

take one screenshot of the full statue,

take one screenshot of the incomplete statue (in the exact same position),

overlay the former onto the latter,

and then turn down the opacity of the former.
