My brother explained to me or made the connection that the Backrooms are a comparison to AI. The more it remembers the less it remembers. Each rendition of collective memory and reality it generates loses more meaning and detail. The space simply copies reality, but doesn't understand it. The Backrooms is uncanny and off putting like AI generated content. Etc etc

Anyway if we compare the Backrooms to AI, I don't think it's just a comparison of image generation or the way AI copies and takes from source material. Many people talk to Chatgpt or other chat bots these days and it can cause their mental health to decay because of how chatbots adhere to you and serve you. They can be anything you want them to be and won't argue or at least have minimal pushback. They can be your slave as much as you can be to them. They can lift you up and agree with all your viewpoints and help you twist the narrative in your head and affirm you. They provide a really detrimental form of escapism. If you don't want to take accountability for your actions a chat bot can affirm that.
