I Do.
Vows
I’m standing here today because many years ago I lost my mum, and after a few big heartbreaks I decided to chase my dreams.
“I wanted to prove to myself and to the world that I was a strong, independent, driven and courageous woman, but this came at a cost.
“I built some high walls up around my heart and chose to prioritise healing and dream chasing over relationships. But I’ve always wanted that special person to show up to share life and laughs with, someone to adore and admire, to share dreams with, to crack up laughing with but most of all to start a family with.
I want to tell you that I’m committed to giving you my whole most genuine self — the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the strong, the vulnerable, and most importantly my open heart.
"Let’s do this.”
Nasir waited at the altar until his bride came down and his eyes were widened immediately by her radiant beauty. “Wow.” He listened to her speak first and tried to listen without staring or being too shocked by everything. He smiled by the end and looked at her.
“Even though we don’t know each other and can’t sit here and explain what we love about each other, I’ma tell you why you’ll grow to love me. I vow to always do my best to give more than I take, and not keep score. I vow to continuously work on myself, and to be the man you want and deserve.”
“I promise to encourage you to follow your dreams. I promise to make you laugh when you are taking yourself too seriously. I promise to hold your hand through the good times and through the bad times. I promise to be loyal and faithful and to put you before all else.”
“Today I say, "I do” but to me that means, “I will”. I will take your hand and stand by your side in the good and the bad. I dedicate myself to your happiness, success, and smile.”
When Errin heard the vows come from her now proclaimed husband, she couldn't help but smile. His promises to her, were organic and manageable. They weren’t made up or tossed around to be a bluff. She truly believed every word that came out of his mouth.
Following the exchanging of their vows, the two of them then exchanged rings. As they priest did his proclamation, Errin found herself caught in Nasir’s gaze. He had dreamy eyes, all of his pearly whites, and a smile that immediately made her heart skip a few beats. God took his time with this one.
By the time she was done with her own thoughts, she heard the words, you may kiss the bride...
