Erwin tugged on the hem, allowing the disturbed sheets to fall neatly straight on his mattress, the hollow lump disappearing and incidentally soothing Erwin’s vague paranoia that he wasn’t alone in his room. A soldier’s life does that to you, he mused idly, shaking his head in disbelief at his own jumpy state, turning to his wardrobe to hang up his pristine-clean, though slightly battle-worn uniform jacket. His eyes narrowed;

He rose up immediately from his chair, the noise making Erwin peer over his papers nonchalantly, witnessing his Captain taking hold of the girl’s hand before promptly carting her off out of eyesight. His strong brows knitted together in a line as he pondered over the situation briefly, cogs turning as his sharp mind attempted to put two and two together. He knew, as many did, that Miss Rai held a torch for her squadron leader…but he hadn’t considered Levi ever returning it. His serene expression went slightly sour, a soft frown marring his lips. Something was going on, and he wasn’t sure he liked it.

Cold. It was everywhere. Frosting the stone-hewn walls, making the grass fields brittle, crisp under the leather boots that trekked across it, numb hands gloved as men braved the chill of the early morning. The winter season was in full swing, the sun still sleeping, as were most of the neighbouring villages within Wall Rose…but as there was no rest for the wicked, there would be no rest for the just. The Survey Corps settlement was alive with activity, guards resuming their duties, farmhands tending to horses, soldiers warming up on the field, stretching their awakening muscles and spot-checking their gear. Some would chat amiably, others complain moodily and others yet…
