From what we have seen/can assume, Shad and Irene have quite similar powers that just manifest in different ways.

Shad is just as capable of “healing” as Irene is, technically. He can bring people from the dead, presumably heal injuries, and grant a sort of immortality, as we see with the Shadowknights. Also, As mentioned by Hyria, they also have some sort of control over realms, their creation and destruction. They even have relatively similar crashouts, if we see shadowknights as a vessel for Shad and Aph as Irene’s vessel, and then compare Laurance’s and Aph’s respective wedding crashouts.

Obviously they are supposed to be balancing complementary forces, even shown through their relics, being the most similar to each other, seconded only by Esmunds (which you know keeps me up at night)

Also, because I lovee colors, I think it’s really neat that Irene and Shad’s stones are complementary colors, and both have similar flames.

What if Esmund’s relic was made from his brother, since Esmund is Garroth’s divine counterpart, and Garroth is never an only child in any universe?

What if Enki’s was from his father?

What if all this crap and the fates that seem to dictate the experiences of these characters were connected to the previous actions made by Irene and other divine warriors?

What if we’re not reading deeply enough into this?
