hey can i have some examples of misogyny in the warriors series? i havent read it in a while, tho im not surprised its there and just want to clarify
tbh its sort of eeeevverrrywhere but some key things i can name rn would be:
- mollies ALWAYS get punished more than toms in forbidden relationships. bluestar lost mosskit, had to give up her kittens, just to become deputy [which was a bad plot point but regardless] but nothingβ¦.happened to oakheart. leafpool literally lost everything - her family, her position, the clans respect - and the only thing that happened to crowfeather was that his other mate and son were mad w/ him, but he didnt get NEARLY as bad a punishment as her. silverstream literally died, feathertail died, etc etc
- molly deaths are usually more violent and just for manpain?? before anyone saysΒ βbut tigerstar-β im talking abt mollies who die JUST to make the tom theyβre w/ feel worse [which is the manpain trope but]. honeyfern, for ex, was killed by a snake bite for absolutely no reason. feathertail died from impact and fueled crowfeathers dumb arc, silverstream died during kitting, etc etc
- ferncloud. ferncloud, one of the sweetest characters in the whole damn series, was killed off just because the fandom complained about her too much. sorreltail, another VERY wonderful character, was killed off because she was too happy and vicky wanted toΒ βpunishβ her?? like wtf.
- the erins are clear that in warriors, gender roles really dont exist in the clan - queens dont HAVE to be mollies [before anyone starts going after me bcΒ βtheres no trans cats in canon-β, what im referencing here is fernsong saying that heβd be a tom queen for ivypool, meaning that no not all queens have to be mollies in the universe CANON has set up], but at the same time, they REALLY dont give any of their molly characters a chance to be in big roles. tawnypelt has been constantly shoved into the background when she couldβve/shouldβve already been leader, thereβs only been a few molly leaders in the series as compared to the numerous toms, etc etc etc
- squirrelflight. squirrelflightβs ENTIRE arc is so laced w/ misogyny that itsβ¦..a little baffling tbh. sheβs constantly getting humiliated and punished when she didnt do a damn thing wrong in the whole series, like i made a post a long time ago going into this but in short; squirrelflightβs whole arc is just so fuckin misogynistic and she deserved better
