a dangerous path cover redesign
While I listened to the audiobook today (which was way longer than I remembered it to be) I had this little idea of doing my own cover design and play around a bit.
Longtail, at least in my perception, played a much bigger role than he gets credit for, both by being Swiftpaw's mentor and telling Fireheart about the dogs and Tigerstar's involvement. So I found it fair to give him the honours of getting his face on the cover.

Yes!!! LongFire is such a good ship! It's probably my favorite Firestar ship (well, tied with FireSand. Call me basic, but I do also love them together lol.)
I like LongFire for the enemies-to-lovers aspect of it (which is a trope that I really enjoy when executed well.) I just love the arc of Longtail and Firestar going from hating each others guts, to grudgingly realizing that there are admirable aspects about the other, to then unabashed, unwaveringly loyalty.... Which I suppose is basically what happens in canon, just without the additional romantic aspect lol.
I wish more had been done with Longtail post-arc one in canon, in general. He didn't deserve to get side-lined so hard after having such great character development
The best thing about Longtail's design is that the cats don't read letters, so as far as they know he just genuinely has a long tail and neat spotting on his sides.
That and the fact that CatZcratch has a wholly different alphabet, that's not how you spell Longtail :]
