I see a lot of things as a wedding photographer...I see a lot of the same things as a wedding photographer. But even after doing it for 6+ years, I'm still surprised, my mind is still changed about things. If I'm going to be honest, I've always been uncomfortable with the idea of the father "giving away the bride". It seemed like such a dated tradition, the passing on of property, like the groom should get 2 cows to seal the deal. But this wedding changed that idea for me. The utmost tragedy is that this brides father was given months to live at the time of the ceremony. As you can imagine, as all weddings are, it was an emotion filled day. I had to pause when I came to this image when I was editing & moments of the day came flashing back. Paige & her father were close, they had a bond I've rarely seen between a dad & his daughter. He was her beloved, his precious deeply loved girl. And in this exchange of hands it wasn't giving that away, it was passing it on, take care of my proud creation, honor my daughter, nurture what we have built & build even greater things.
