Pretty sure I was actually crying real tears when this behind the scenes photo was taken. ...can you tell? 🙈🥺💙 (Thank goodness for waterproof mascara!) ⠀ ⠀ Remember how I told you guys that this song is an emotional one for me? I don’t really cry on camera-it’s hard for me to be that vulnerable in front of them, and in front of other people. But the first couple takes on Day 1 filming “Show Yourself” at the @icecastles_ I surprised myself when my eyes kept welling up! 😅 Just goes to show how incredibly written this song is that it does that to so many of us! I am so in awe of how @disneymusic reaches deep into our hearts and becomes infused with personal meaning to countless fans. We’re all such different people with unique struggles, dreams & styles of communication, and yet many of us hear these songs and feel as intimately connected to them as if they were written just for us. I hope to be able to write music like that someday. I want to touch hearts by finding a way to express the longing I feel, the pain I’ve experienced and the hope that I have, and send it off to others who might need the encouragement & validation a song like that can give. I’m so grateful for songwriters like Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez, and my longtime Disney hero @alanmenken who write music we treasure that inspires so many. Anyways, I digress.
