Lucifer blinked at him multiple times. "That's impossible. I thoroughly checked their medical records several times. They are not Deaf." Solomon shrugged and casually plopped down into a seat next to Asmodeus. "Well considering when they awoke, I had tried talking to them for an entire two minutes, and they still hadn't noticed I was there until they opened their eyes and saw me. I believe that saying they're deaf wouldn't be incorrect," he paused before tilting his head. "Not to mention there's the fact that they're fluent in sign language and told me themself that they are, in fact, Deaf." The room went silent for a moment before a loud snort pierced the air. Suddenly Satan was doubled over cackling with laughter. "How in the Seven Rings did you manage to miss something so important?!" "Shut it!" Lucifer snarled. Satan's laughter only doubled in volume. Lucifer sighed and turned to Diavolo. He bowed deeply in shame. "Forgive me, Lord Diavolo. I don't know how this happened." Diavolo looked back at the door and stroked his chin. "Although a notice ahead of time about MC's disability would've been greatly appreciated, it hardly changes the current situation. MC is now in the Devildom, and they will be completing the exchange program enlisted under your watch. Do you or any of your brothers know sign language?" Asmodeus smirked and leaned on the arm of his chair towards Diavolo. "I can say all kinds of things with my body," he smiled and batted his eyes flirtatiously. "Would you like to see?" Diavolo and Solomon laughed while the other brothers groaned. "Haha, no! That is not quite what I meant, but thank you Asmodeus," Diavolo responded. The Avatar of Lust shrugged and went back to leaning against Solomon. Beel scratched the back of his neck. "I talk with my hands when my mouth is full. But it's nothing really official. Just a bunch of vague gestures really." Everyone turned to Lucifer. The eldest sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "No. Out of the dozens of languages that I do speak, sign language is not one of them," he dragged his hand down his face as though he was physically trying to wipe the stress off his body. "Mammon was supposed to be in charge of watching over and protecting them, but the idiot can barely speak proper English, forget anything else. Leviathan...potentially picked up a little bit of it from the shows that he watches, but I can't be certain." "Oh dear, how unfortunate," Satan spoke in a mischievous amused tone. He didn't even look up from his book as he casually flipped the pages. "It would appear that I am the only one of us capable of communicating the human." Lucifer narrowed his eyes at Satan before turning to Diavolo. "Give me two days, and I will be fluent. In the meantime, they can stay with Solomon." Diavolo chuckled and patted Lucifer's shoulder. "Now now, Lucifer, it'll be hard enough for MC to adjust to the Devildom without them bouncing from place to place. It's best if they stay here. I'm sure Satan will be a fine interpreter for all of you until you pick up the language." Satan's chest puffed up a little bit as he smirked gloatingly at Lucifer. "Exactly, brother dear. What's the matter? Do you not trust me?" "No, I don't," Lucifer answered without hesitation. He got up and grabbed a pad of paper that had been laying on the table before leaving the room. Satan let out a shout of protest as he quickly followed his brother; the rest followed him out of pure curiosity. Lucifer led the group to your room, writing as he walked, and threw open the door. You yelped at the sudden intrusion and looked at the group in shock. Your eyes fell onto an amused Solomon. You frantically began to sign. "What's going on?" Satan grinned sadistically and stepped forward, raising his hands, before he was shoved aside by Lucifer. The eldest quickly handed you a cellular device and a pad of paper, which read:

MC, My name is Lucifer. I am the eldest of the brothers here and the Avatar of Pride. Welcome to the Devildom and the House of Lamentation. I apologize that we were not better prepared to accommodate your disability. What I've handed you is a D.D.D. It works similar to a cell phone in your world. There is a text-to-voice app on there that can use to communicate with us if you are comfortable. Then underlined heavily it said: Satan, the fourth born amongst us brothers and the Avatar of Wrath, will be your interpreter. He may appear nice and innocent, but do not believe what he says. I am personally working on learning sign language and will be able to better accommodate you shortly.

You frowned at that part. If you weren't able to trust your interpreter, you might as well have no interpreter at all! You huffed in annoyance and opened up the D.D.D. to the formally mentioned app. As you were doing so, Satan took the page and quickly read it over. He scoffed and turned to Lucifer. "Really? Are you trying to scare them away from the only person that they can easily communicate with?" Lucifer raised an eyebrow at him. "I just want to them to be aware that you may not be entirely truthful with them for your own amusement. Am I, wrong?" Satan opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by an electronic voice. "If I apparently can't trust what he says, what's the point of having an interpreter at all?" Satan gestured to you, as though to emphasize your point. You continued, "Besides, I can read lips. I just need you to face me and talk clearly with precise lip movements, if you can, and I should be able to get a general idea of what you're saying." Satan smiled at you and signed, "Ignore him. He's just upset because I can do something that he can't. He's sensitive like that. Satan, by the way. A pleasure to meet you." You chuckled causing Lucifer to eye you both skeptically. Lucifer huffed and crossed his arms. "I don't like this, but I suppose there isn't any other choice." Diavolo patted Lucifer's back as he approached you. His gentle golden eyes met yours, and he smiled. "I understand this is a lot to take in. I truly think that you will do well down here though. You're in the safest house in all of the Devildom, aside from my castle. As an exchange student, there will be tasks for you to complete and a paper that will be written at the end of your year-long stay. I hope that you will come to enjoy yourself here." You shook your head in disbelief. There really was no getting out of this. Whether you liked it or not, this was where you would be staying for the next year. But that didn't mean you had to make it easy for them. You'd prove that your disability and being human did not mean that you would be taking this lying down. You looked Lucifer dead in the eyes as you pressed play on your message. "I don't like this, but I suppose there isn't any other choice." The eldest brother's eyes darkened as the other cackled around. Satan beamed at you as he signed. "Oh we are going to have so much fun." *** And that is part two! So Satan will be this MC's caretaker rather than Mammon, and MC will meet Mammon and Leviathan later on in a different fic. I'm really loving this MC. I think this will be a fun one! 102.8°F. It was official. You were sick as a dog and the cough coming out of your throat sounded like the bark to match. Taking care of one sick human shouldn’t be so hard, but they quickly realized just how different a sick human was from a sick demon. At least you weren’t sweating blood… but they needed to figure out what to do.

“Well, someone is going to have to take care of them,” even if none of them quite knew what to do about a sick human of all things. It didn’t seem to be quite the same as the illnesses they were accustomed to, “I wonder if there are any texts on human illne-”

“I’ll do it!”

Lucifer was pulled from his thoughts as he looked up at Levi, who was raising a shaky hand and looking toward the ground as if afraid to make eye contact. He sighed, “I appreciate your enthusiasm but we need someone that actually knows what they-”

“I know what to do.” The words came out louder than he intended, so he quickly quieted down, “I’ve seen this before. In anime.” Every romance has an episode where one of the love interests takes care of the other. It’s part of the buildup to get them together.

Not that he was thinking about that! He just knew what to do!

“As long as it isn’t my job.” Belphie yawned before dozing off again, content that responsibility had been foisted onto someone other than him.

Mammon cleared his throat, “Oi! Ya should leave that kind of work to yer big brother. I gotta show my responsibility somehow.”

"I don't need your help, Mammon..." he nearly growled under his breath.

There was an eerie silence around the room before Beel addressed the obvious, “Do you know anything about taking care of sick humans?” That was the only reason he hadn’t volunteered himself. As much as he wanted to be with you and make sure you were alright, he didn’t know the first thing that may help.

“It can’t be that hard.” After all, if Levi could do it…

“The answer is no, Mammon.” Lucifer bit back, “I’m not risking you somehow killing our exchange student. Or worse. Levi at least has some level of understanding, so we will leave this to him.”

Satan shook his head, “Although I wonder how much understanding one can have from watching cartoons.”

“It’s anime and it’s a form of art so powerful that it can capture the complicated emotions people feel, both in stories that mimic our real lives and in ones that show us new realities.”

“That sounds like a fancy way of saying yer a nerd,” Mammon scoffed.

"You're not going to touch them!"

Lucifer could already feel the headache they were all giving him, “Go, Levi.” He didn’t have to be told twice to follow that direction, so he turned about-face and tried to hide his inner excitement as he made his way toward your room. Meanwhile, “Mammon, since you want to help so badly, you can help me find if there are any books on human-safe remedies.”

“Eh?!” He went slack-jawed while his other brother’s laughed at his stupidity.

Should he knock? It was your room, but you were sick so you weren’t going to open the door for him. Wait! That was perfect. He would knock on your door, confused when you didn’t answer, then come in and find you sick! That was a great setup!

So he knocked and waited, wondering how long he was supposed to stand outside your door before going in. It was probably long enough already, so he turned the handle of your door and peered inside. Just as he suspected, you were lying on your bed, curled under what looked like an avalanche of blankets as you napped. He swallowed the lump in his throat before slipping in.

This is the part where he was supposed to be shocked at your current state and check your temperature, so he walked toward your bed slowly and placed his forehead against your own. It was strange being so close to you, but this was always how he’d seen it done. Now he understood why the leads always blushed when they did this.

On a more serious note: yeah, you were definitely burning up and you were much sweatier than he expected.

“Hmh?” A small whine came from beneath the pile of blankets, causing him to jump back. You opened your eyes and turned your head toward him, clearly unfocused, “Levi? When did you get here?” Your voice was faint and your tone trailed every which way as you spoke.

“I, uhh, just got here.”

“Oh… Sorry. I didn’t hear you come in.” You attempted to sit up but felt your head swim as soon as you did and went spiraling back toward the pillow below.

“You don’t have to get up.” In fact, you really shouldn’t, considering your current state, “I’m here since you’re sick and all…”

You hummed in understanding, only barely understanding what he was saying, “Thanks.” You flipped on your side and closed your eyes again, “I’m gonna sleep.”

Okay, yeah, that made sense. You were probably really tired. Although, he wasn’t exactly sure what to do with himself while you slept. He had to recall all of his anime knowledge and training. When the love interest was sick, what would the male lead do?

Make them something to eat to keep up their strength and then the episode would usually end with a k-ki-kiss… That first thing! He could do that!

All he needed to do was make rice porridge… which he immediately started looking up while walking toward the kitchen. It seemed simple enough, but he wasn't sure if Devildom rice would work the same as human realm rice. The rice you were used to looked so white and soft and fluffy. The rice he usually ate was more grey and rough as sandpaper. At least it was still fluffy. And it would hopefully still make a good porridge.

He grabbed the rice and salt and began to fill a pot with water. He placed it on the stove and waited while it heated up, feeling impatient as he watched for any sign of bubbles and finally dumping in the rice. This always looked so much faster in anime.

"What are you doing?"

Levi practically jumped out of his skin at the voice suddenly speaking from behind him. His head whipped around to see Asmo practically leaning against the counter, hand halfway into a box of cookies that Beel somehow hadn't managed to completely devour yet.

"Food," he stammered out, "This is supposed to be good for them."

The younger demon looked at the slowly simmering pot and slipped the cookie into his mouth, "It looks so bland. Shouldn't you make them something better?"

"This is what you're supposed to do." He wasn't exactly sure why he was supposed to do it, but he trusted what he'd been taught.

There was a brief pause, “And who’s watching our cute little human while you’re here?” Asmo asked, trying to hide the fact that he'd taken a second cookie.

“Umm, well, I mean…”

“Ohhh~ Does that mean they’re all by themselves? Maybe I should go take a peek and see how they’re doing since you seem to be bu-”

“No!” He shouted without thinking, “I can take care of them by myself!” As if he would allow Asmo of all people to interfere with this very important job. He wasn’t trying to set up a love triangle.

Not that he was thinking about that!

“Oh, don’t let me stop you then~” Asmo giggled, before skipping off with another stolen cookie. This was too delicious of a development and he didn’t want to interfere. Spreading a few rumors though? He could definitely do that.

Now Levi was even more embarrassed than he already was.

Ugggg! Whatever.

He just needed to finish making this porridge and then get back to you. Although, he wondered if it was supposed to look so much like frozen broth that hadn’t quite melted all the way… But he followed the recipe, so this had to be it.

So he dished the slop into a bowl and stared in wonder at his hard work. This was bound to make you feel better. Now he just had to get it to you and wake you up so you could eat. Then you would be healthy again.

He only realized how he had overfilled the bowl once he started walking and had to carefully keep the contents from slashing over the brim. Opening your door was a complete another task, since every time he tried to shift the bowl into a single hand the porridge would threaten to tip the entire thing. Eventually, once frustration had set in, he remembered that he had a tail that he could use to help him out and shifted into his demon form. Hopefully, no one noticed that embarrassing little moment…

Now that his brain was working again, he opened your door and walked inside. He was completely taken aback when he saw you lying in bed, clearly watching something on your DDD based on the music coming from it.

“You’re awake?” Now he felt bad that he’d left you alone for so long.

You looked over at him, giving a small smile, “Sorry. I’ve been in and out of it all day. Being sick sucks, y’know?” If it was anything like his sick days you would be floating face down in a tank of water, so he actually really didn’t know. You looked at the bowl in his hands and raised a brow, “What’s that?”

“Oh, I made you some food.” He stepped closer and held it out to you, “If you’re hungry.”

“Oh?” You turned off the video and set your DDD to the side, “You didn’t have to do that.”

Maybe not, but he definitely wanted to.

You took the bowl from his outstretched hands, grateful for any kind of food, even if it looked like swamp mud. It at least tasted good and it went down easy, although it was very gritty. It was embarrassing how he watched you eat though.

As soon as you were down to only a small puddle of porridge in the bowl, you set it aside, "Thank you."

“You’re welcome.” As long as you liked it, he was happy.

“Soooooo, is this the part where you kiss me?” The words slipped out so easily with your head overheating and your judgment was lacking.

“Huh?”

“Well, you're following anime tropes, right? That’s why you made me porridge and did that ‘pressing your forehead against mine’ thing?” You laughed softly, which soon turned into coughing. Once you stopped, you cleared your throat, "Sorry. It was a joke "

But it was too late. Levi’s face had turned bright pink at the thought of kissing you and he couldn’t hide his joy at the possibility, “I- I couldn’t. I’m not, I mean, you’re-”

You cleared your throat, trying to hide your own blush (not that it was difficult given how red you already were due to your fever), “You’re right. I’m sick. We should save it for when I’m better.” If you did it now he might get sick too. Could demons even catch human viruses? You weren’t risking finding out, “But, umm, you might have to remind me. Remembering things is kind of hard right now.”

"Are you sure?" It had to be your fever talking. There was no way you would ever want to really kiss him. He was just some disgusting loser and you were... you.

You pulled the blanket over your nose, "Well, waiting is kind of hard. I wouldn't mind one on the forehead just for now." Your large, watery eyes looked up at him with a silent plea. You were sick and dumb and you wanted him to kiss you.

Levi was nearly paralyzed, his heart hammering in his chest as he stared back into your eyes. This couldn't really be happening? To him of all people? He must have been dreaming! But if this was a dream, then there was no reason he couldn't indulge.

So he grabbed your hand in his own, trying to keep from letting his nerves cause him to shake any more than he already was, and leaned forward slowly as he waited for you to tell him again that you were joking. That moment never came though.

As soon as he pressed his lips against your forehead, he quickly backed away, "Sorry! I shouldn't have done that." How could he have done that? He must have been crazy!

"Fuck! Your cock feels so good~" You mewled loudly, not caring if anyone heard you from just outside your room or not. It wasn't like they weren't used to the sounds of you in the throes of passion, although they definitely weren't as used to you being the submissive one between you and Levi so it would probably catch them off guard.

There was no way the avatar of envy could stand that kind of slight. Now you were here, on your back with one leg slung over his shoulder as he buried himself inside of your warmth, the hair from his wig cascading gently onto your chest and tickling every inch of skin that it brushed over.

"I want you so much." You reached up, spreading your arms and inviting him to lie against your chest.

He dipped his head down, finding one of your nipples and pinching it between his teeth, causing you to scream something incoherent. The whole thing happened so quickly that you didn’t even have a moment to talk to him.

Levi was your best friend. You did everything together, unless it involved leaving the house, but he always told you that there was no reason to actually step foot outside the front door, that he had everything the both of you needed up in his room. If it wasn’t there, he’d just order it on Akuzon and get same day shipping. He was adorable in the sense that he never wanted you to leave his side, and although the two of you weren’t an item and you weren’t dating, he would get immensely jealous if you ever did anything with any of his brothers. Hence why he’s acting the way he is now.

“Were you not supposed to go grocery shopping with me?” Beel was a sweetheart, and out of all the brothers, he was the least likely to actually purposely try to drive a wedge between you and Levi. He cared about you, and if Levi was upset, that also meant that you’d be upset too. Not only did he care about you, but he cared deeply about all of his brothers. He’d never do anything to hurt Levi, and seeing his brother so happy brought him joy as well. “Maybe I should talk to him…”

You shook your head, knowing very well that Levi wouldn’t want to hear it from Beel. He’d want to talk to you about it. Levi didn’t want to seem weak in front of his brothers, even if all of them knew that he was the avatar of envy, showing his jealousy to his brothers over you was just… embarrassing to him. “I’ll talk to him. You know how he gets.” Beel hummed in agreement, grabbing the grocery bags out of your hands so you could go up to Levi’s room and ease his mind.

It was clear that he was agitated, something that he’d never actually voice to you. You didn’t even have to see him to know that he was, the sound of his keyboard clicking gave it away. He’d always press the keys a little harder, slam the mouse down when he got too close to the edge of the mousepad. His huffing and puffing was just an added factor to let you know just how agitated he really was. With a deep breath, you knocked on the door, hoping that he could hear you over the headphones that you already knew he was wearing. “Go away. I’m busy.” You sighed loudly as you leaned your head against the door, knocking again. “I said go away!” He shouted, and you heard the mouse slam back down on the desk. He wasn’t going to let you in, and you weren’t just going to let him angrily sulk in his room for the rest of the night, so you decided to just let yourself in.

“Too busy to talk to me?” You asked as you walked into the room, leaning against the wall next to his desk. He looked up at you once, huffing quietly before turning back to his screens. At least he had kept his headphones off, so maybe he’d listen to you, even if he didn’t say anything back. “You don’t have to talk… I can talk.” You mumbled, but it would be better if he at least replied once, or maybe even nodded. “I don’t know why you’re acting like this. I went to the store to get groceries for dinner.” You shouldn’t have to explain yourself to him, but maybe it’ll ease his mind a little, even if the grocery bags were very noticeable. He needed that reassurance, which wasn’t really a problem, but also, you weren’t actually together so this shouldn’t even be a big deal to him.

He pulled the headphones off completely and turned his chair to face you in one swift movement. You could see the hurt, the anger in his eyes. He was upset about this, and even though it didn’t make sense to you, the feelings made sense to him. “You went with Beel!” His shouting kind of threw you off, it actually made you jump a little. It was different from him shouting at you from behind the door, now that you could see his face, you could actually see how serious he was. You being with Beel not only upset him, it pissed him off. “You’re always going somewhere with one of them when you could be in here with me! Why?!” His question almost made you laugh, and you would have if you weren’t worried about how he’d react. He was still a demon after all, and the last thing you wanted to do was piss him off more.

“I like getting out of the house sometimes, Levi.” You sighed quietly, slowly taking a couple steps closer to him, reaching out to place your hand on his shoulder. “Just because I go shopping with them or leave the house with one of them, it doesn’t mean I don’t like spending time with you.” That should have been clear to him considering you came up to his room to make sure he was alright immediately. “You don’t like leaving the house… You don’t even like leaving your room. I’m not going to ask you because you’re just going to tell me to order whatever it is that I want or need off of Akuzon.” He didn’t like hearing that, mainly because you were right, but things were also a lot easier when everything could just be delivered. He rolled his eyes, and you could see the small pout forming on his lips. “You can go out shopping with me next time if you’d like?”

“It’s not just that…” He mumbled, and you could see the blush forming on his cheeks, his hands folded on his lap as his thumbs twirled over one another. “I don’t like seeing you with any of them.” He was quiet, and it almost seemed like he didn’t want you to hear him say that. His avatar was shining through more than ever right now. “I mean… What if one of them likes you? What if one of them makes a move on you or asks you out? What about me?” He was so bothered by this, his legs were bouncing, it seemed like he couldn’t keep still. This was something that was eating away at him, and if he had just talked about it sooner with you, you could have put the whole thing to rest. Instead, he waited for all of his feelings to pile up until they all boiled over, and there was no need for it.

“Levi, in case you didn’t realize… I don’t like any of them. I like you.” His body kind of froze up when you said it, and you could hear a small noise which sounded a little like a squeal rise up out of him. “I want to go shopping with you… I want to leave the house with you. I like being with you, Levi.” The squeal got a little louder as he finally turned his head to look up at you, his cheeks now burning a bright red, and the look of anger and sadness in his eyes had changed to something between confusion and adoration.

“M-Me? Are you sure?” You let out a small snort before nodding your head. The Levi that you came to know and love was back in all of his nervous, slightly awkward glory. It was funny that he had been so hell bent against you being with any of his brothers in any type of way, but once you told him that you wanted to be with him, as if he was giving you any other option, now he’s confused and questioning you. “I guess… I was waiting for something to come in… but… because I wanted to make it special…” You raised one of your eyebrows at him, not really knowing what he was getting at, but you were pretty sure that he’d explain, or at least get to what he was leading up to. He finally got up from his chair, grabbing your hands and holding them tightly. You could feel that he was shaking, and sweating a little. His palms were clammy, and you wanted to tell him to calm down, but you worried that doing so would make him back out from whatever he was doing altogether. “The delivery can wait… I just… I really like you, Y/N… A lot… and I want you to be… w-with me… I want you to be my human.” He took a deep breath after saying it, like it had taken everything out of him to even say that, and for him it probably did. At this point his face was redder than a tomato, and it seemed like he was holding his breath waiting for you to respond.
