People can't admit things to themselves about their parents because if they say anything that implies their parents was bad, they think they're literally doing a moral assault on the people they are most indebted to. But the entire premise of good parent/bad parent is wrong because the premise rests on the idea that it is ok for society to leave children at the mercy of a few adults. The entire premise is that the nuclear family is sufficient to raise children. Capitalist countries have the material resources to ensure free housing, food, full fair and dignified employment (of all those willing and able, not forced employment), free and quality education that is not punitive and is meant to help children grow and develop and not to punish them into compliance and conformity. But they don't because the scarcity and competition creates people who can be exploited so capitalists can extract super profits from their labor. "Parents" aren't real they are a social construct created by the state which has abdicated its responsibility for the children that it lives on.
