An Incomplete List of Fonts I Would Like to Digitize Someday
All from the Antique Pattern Library
This twisty one
This pleasantly-flourished simple one. it's quirky.
I have no clue how one would include backstitching in a font, but it would look so good
This Art Deco set, from a pamphlet where it shares space with both the most stunning animal illustrations you've ever seen and also the world's most baffling, hideous borders
This one has a lowercase set, too. In a modern context this reads more as a retro game font than a cross-stitch one.
these would look INSANE stitched. more of a monogram font than one for sentences, but who cares. I could figure out some lowercases and this would absolutely COOK
Love the weight of this one. Gothic, fun, but not large enough to be unwieldy.
The first twisty font is better, I think. but if I had infinite time I'd do this one too
A very respectable twist on a classic sampler font. could get a lot of mileage out of this one
hot take but I think with a good lowercase set this one would also be good for a lot of things-- party in the capitals, but keep the lowercase legible.
a very respectable font. you could file your taxes with this one.
their bulbous forms entrance me. I REALLY like that 'H'
Another set that really should only be for monograms... but some part of me wants to believe I could make a proper font around these
LOVE the 'A', like the others. really dig that the original artist included a lowercase set, too
Bonus Monograms I like:
Blue Floral | Thick Line Red Floral | Right Angles
Lovely to see we have spaces where you can gain access to so much literature!

Crafting some mini fishies out of small scraps!! 🎣💫
hey does anyone have that poem. about the author seeing two boys cuddling on a hotel lobby couch, where he refers to it as something like an island of safe anonymity or smth. its been 5000 years my college boyfriend had it written out and pinned to his wall
THANK YOU @witchoflight it is indeed "on traveling together" by Kayleb Rae Candrilli
Emma Bagnall. Age 11. 1843.
Pretty sure that Emma -who is presumably a relation of some description of my partner - never, ever considered the idea that her sampler would still be being admired more than 180 after she had finished it. I wonder if she was proud of her accomplishment. I would posit, given the fact that it has survived the passage of time and has travelled to the other side of the planet, that it was, indeed, an accomplishment.
Not sure if the figures down the bottom are bulls, demons, or dragons. They’re pretty cute though.
this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this, which i have only tested at a small scale and not this final version exactly (where i have done such things as further widening the cheeks and finalizing the leg shapes.) i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐
go forth and make weird little beanbag kittens! pls show me if you do!
woah this got big!! and after another try i have another untested tweak for yall. this should help the weird pinchy side seams out. yey
My first attempt! I made the pattern a bit smaller as I wanted it to be able to fit in a pocket, but then (accidentally but perhaps unavoidably) sewed it with a wider seam allowance than the resized pattern indicated, so the face is proportionally a bit too big and I lost some detail in the ear shape. I'm pleased with it though! It was fun to make something and to do some handsewing.
SOO CUTE AND TINIE 😭
I tried this pattern a while back to try out some minky and I get no points for making the pattern well but looook at my boyyy
His name is Tofu. Thank you for sharing the pattern I will love him forever
I made these kitties! They’re so fun to make and so sweet🥰🥰

john darnielle from the mountain goats on unicorn tolerance from this year
honestly this one always felt like a weird successor to heel turn 2 off of beat the champ, another extremely personal album about jd’s upbringing and early life, which released like 2 years before goths. in heel turn 2 the narrator abandons their former, softer, self because they realize that being good has brought them pain time and time again and that they need to be ruthless to survive now
where in unicorn tolerance you see someone who has spent a long time burying and abandoning their former softer self out of necessity start to realize that doing so has brought them not so much good and to survive they need to find that part of themselves again
i think jd frames both of these songs as not so much moral choices that deserve judgement passed on them, meaning one isn’t the better or good choice, as mental health choices people make out of desperation are often framed as, but instead both as things desperate and hurt people do out of a need to survive after realizing that the way they have been living their lives hasn’t been serving them and that they will die if they don’t change. two sides of the same coin
