I have massive brainrot for these guys and I’ve been replaying Silksong lately so! More bug (species + explanation under the cut)
Lucio- Huntress/Styx species; they’re some of my favorite NPCs in the game, and Lucio is my favorite :) I also think the way that Styx talks about masks is sort of fitting? Like how Lucio was forced to take on a role instead of being able to choose his own path. Idk. Also I imagine the damaged horn shell is from the Bug Backstreets
Sora- Choir/Citadel Bug; To be specific, she’s based on a Furm because they’re fluffy and cute :) and also the Citadel reminds of the Index, at least a little bit
Kira- Flea; It was either this or bees, with the sense of community in them. I ultimately chose fleas out of personal preference lol
Albina- Citadel Automaton; This was just a no-brainer really haha because of how her and Callisto are. Unfortunately this also makes them not look much like bugs. Also I tried to make bald Albina work but it did Not look good. I imagine her ‘hair’ is actually a piece of clothing she stole from a bug lmao
Ren- Mantis; This is mainly due to how diligent and how dedicated they are to being warriors. Ren is partially based on a Mantis Petra to separate him from Ishmael from my last post and also because wings are cool
Valencina- Karaka; I think their whole thing about war and combat fits with Valencina’s whole war and other things like her style of fighting. Ignoring the fact that they’re extinct now dw about it it’s different in Limbug World
Rien- Choir/Citadel Bug; Once again the Citadel and the Index. And also Rien is based a bit on the Fertids because I thought the leaves could fit well as the white hair streaks
Matthias- Flea; Same reasoning as Kira, and also I think the whole betrayal thing would get him kicked out because the fleas are big on community (which could also fit the mantises but idk. Mantis fit Ren more and I didn’t want to double up)
Callisto- Citadel Automaton; Same reasoning as Albina’s! Also his sword is super long it was so hard to position the guys around it
Shiomi Yoru- Weaver; Ryōshū was a Weaver, so automatically her and Araya had to be Weavers too lol. I based her more on Widow, mainly the whole “mask ripped off” thing
Araya- Weaverling; She’s based on the tiny guys but I made her slightly taller to fit better
Roland Libraryofruina being based on literature but not being as obvious about it as the limbus characters is really funny because his previous office being named Charles' office has straight up been plaguing me for weeks like.
