kurode as a yandere would be in denial about how he isn't obsessed with you and he is SO convinced that he is just feeling overprotective over you.

Well not until he genuinely straight up feel the urge to beat someone up simply because they are picking on you.

kurode just simply can't tell if it's his intrusive thoughts or he is genuinely THIS bad.

With all of that, Kurode is still determined to prove himself that he is worthy of your love but with how much he love and how much he thinks you deserve affection.. it will be impossible for him to fully see himself as worthy of you.

Sometimes he often thought that if you ever met someone better more powerful, more popular, and lastly can ensure your safety more than him, Kurode thought that you will surely leave them for that person.. someone like his brother.

But he wouldn't let you.. no he COULD NEVER let you.

He couldn't tell how much it has bothered him throughout the day.

The thought of you not noticing him nor even glancing at him because he is not worthy enough of you.

He have tried everything.

It's ok even if the rewards are just a little smile and thank you from you.

It's ok even if the rewards are you patting his head and praise him.

It's ok.

But he is sure going to make you return the feelings.

OKAY OKAY, so Kurode is like this normal looking guy at first glance until you see his whole "I'm not great enough..." inner struggle. It may be a little silly to admit but it speaks to me on a personal level, so it means a lot when he continues to develop and grow despite that mindset. I guess it kinda proves that it can be turned into motivation instead of brewing as jealousy? If you get what I mean lol

Huh? 

Shifting your shopping bags to one arm, you drew your hand out and offered your palm to the sky. This time, two drops hit your hand. And another followed after. When you lowered your palm, there were small drops of water dotting your skin in circular shapes. 

Is it… raining? 

Another drop hit your hand. Looking upwards, you noticed that the sky was overcome with worn-out blues and irritated grays, ready to drop its weight onto the earth at any moment. 

How did you not notice it was going to rain…?! 

Panicking, you searched yourself for anything to keep yourself dry. Perhaps a jacket or hoodie would have been quite useful as of right now, that is, if you had even brought one in the first place! You didn’t even bring an umbrella – or anything to keep you dry until you made it home. You wanted to groan, how were you supposed to know it was going to rain today? It was perfectly fine earlier when you were shopping. The sun was out and there were barely any clouds in the sky, no hint of gloom tainted the summer day (until now). 

In your moment of panic, more rain fell from the sky, lightly soaking your clothes, and more importantly: your shopping bags. Urgh, this was terrible timing, you only came out for a quick errand, only to be left stuck in a rainstorm. 

Well, it wasn’t like you could do much except find somewhere to hide under until the rain ended. You hastily packed your items and started looking for shelter. 

Along the way, you mindlessly admired the architecture of My Melody Kingdom. The buildings had this highly refined, yet dollhouse-like vibe. Windows with intricate designs were decorated with an array of pink and white bows underneath them. Some roofs to clothing stores had white flowers popping out against the dark pink tile, further playing into the “cute” aspect of the kingdom. The store you visited earlier had a couple of flowers planted in the front for a fresh look, along with some bows on the front door. Only now was it so apparent to you that the majority of the buildings in My Melody Kingdom had the same bow and flower motif. Too bad the weather was wearing the aesthetic of the kingdom down.

And suddenly, as though a reminder to not get distracted – a splash of water hits you square in the face, cutting your thoughts off abruptly. 

Faintly, you could hear the pitter-pattering and laughter of children in your vicinity. 

HELLO? 

Quickly wiping your face with your sleeve, you shook your head and looked around for the culprit, stopping when you saw the faces of two kids staring back at you with wide eyes. One boy and one girl stood in front of you, sporting raincoats with Lord Melody’s silhouette printed on them. You suspected that they were probably fooling around, like all children do. Honestly it would’ve been easier to ignore if they did it without involving you. 

“Sorry!” the boy yelped when the girl kicked him with her foot. 

“It’s okay… um, do you two know anywhere I could stay dry…?” you asked, awkwardly looking off to the side. 

“Yeah, actually,” the girl beamed, pointing a finger towards a bench with a tree looming over it, “There’s a bench over there!” 

Surprisingly, the bench looked mostly dry, save for the ends of it, where the tree couldn’t reach. However… There seemed to be someone occupying one side of the bench, their arms crossed over their midsection, and the space next to them empty. Their clothes were dark, parts of their outfit accented with a bright magenta, unlike the pinks and whites of the kingdom. You blinked. Hopefully they didn’t mind you taking up the spot next to them. 

“Thanks, you two stay safe,” you nodded to the two, giving them a small smile. They seemed nice, even if they did shoot you in the face with rainwater. 

“You too!” the girl dragged the boy deeper down the sidewalk as they waved you goodbye. 

Making your way over to the bench, you made sure to avoid all eye contact with the person sitting down until you reached them, in fear that if you made anything awkward between the two of you, they wouldn’t be so inviting. Also, you were soaked from the random attack from earlier, so you looked like you just let yourself shower under the rain. But they wouldn’t comment on that, right? 

Your footsteps slowed when you were a couple feet away, and with all the courage you had, you spoke, “Is it okay if I take this spot over here? I won’t bother you.” 

They jumped, their fuchsia eyes boring through you with furrowed brows. They looked like you would viciously attack at any second. You were honestly so tempted to dig a hole and stay in it for all of eternity. What possibly went wrong?! Was it something you said?

Then, the stranger softened, as if realizing you were somebody else, “Ah… it’s okay, go ahead,” they were suddenly dismissive, a strange contradiction to their reaction to your presence earlier. They scooted, leaving even more room for you to sit on. And you couldn’t help but feel a little guilty at disturbing their peace. 

“Thanks…” you slid into the place next to the stranger, your arm briefly brushing against theirs, until you rummaged through your shopping bag for any damage. Thankfully, the contents were clear of anything, so you were safe. Relieved, you laid back on the bench, allowing your thoughts to consume you. 

There was a high possibility that you worsened the stranger’s mood or that you just made everything officially awkward. Actually, scratch that, it was already awkward to begin with. You stared off into the path that the two kids went down. The two were already gone, and you thought that the next time you ran into them you hopefully wouldn’t have to suffer another random attack again. Because of their lack of awareness, you ended up colder than expected. 

You shivered, feeling a drop of rainwater fall on your skin. There was no denying that you were definitely going to get sick after this. Immediately, your hands wrapped around your body, attempting to preserve any warmth you had left. 

This sucks… 

Silence overtook the two of you the longer time dragged on. 

The stranger stared at you from the corner of their eye. Their fingers twitching, as if wanting to reach out to you, despite knowing nothing about you. Would you run away if they did? They silently debated on whether or not to help you somehow, but how? They rubbed a piece of their black jacket between their index and thumb, before lighting up. 

That’s how. 

Sliding off their jacket, they wrapped it around your shoulders securely. 

“Here, I think you need it more than I do.” 

This time, you jumped from the sudden feeling of warmth on your back. 

You quickly shook your head, already reaching to peel the jacket off your shoulders, “You don’t need to do that for me… won’t you get cold, too?”

“Well, I’m pretty much fine like this.” they stared at you earnestly, a small smile forming on their lips, “I’d rather you stay warm. I’m already pretty dry, anyway.” 

“Are you sure?” you blinked. 

“Yeah, don’t worry about it.”  

“Ah, alright, then…” finding no reason to argue, you brought the jacket closer to you, cautious to make sure it didn’t get dirty. It was admittedly a nice jacket, looking a little on the expensive side. However, you could tell it was meant more for fashion and less for functionality, as it only gave you a small amount of warmth. Still, the idea that the stranger would give you their jacket was nice. Your face heated a little, half embarrassed and half flattered from the act of kindness. 

“Thanks, uh…” you trailed off, not knowing what to call them. 

“Kurode.” they finished for you, straightening up a little.

“KURODE?” you slapped a hand over your mouth instantaneously, like you uttered a forbidden word. Kurode was the stranger next to you?? The same stranger who lent you his jacket without complaint no less???? The dark clothing, magenta highlights, and the pink eyes, too. Honestly, it should have clicked faster for you. But it seems like you were so scrambled that you completely failed to pick up the signs. You just made the biggest fumble of the century… 

He let out an amused huff, “That’s me. You didn’t expect a regular guy like me to be him, huh?” Then, he dejectedly muttered, as though the next statement pained him to say, “The greatest knight’s younger brother…” 

Is he offended because of you? Panicking for the second time today, you went to quickly dispute his claim, “No, no! I just didn’t think I’d find you here. It’s kind of like seeing someone really important walking down the street while looking like you just woke up, if that makes any sense? So you’re not just a random guy…!”

Kurode laughed, the bitter feelings from earlier dissipating, “I was just joking. Sort of. And you don’t look like you just woke up, haha,” 

You sighed in relief. Thank goodness. You never knew Kurode was so unpredictable. Nothing could have possibly prepared you for this to happen, but somehow you kind of were glad you met him. He was less intimidating than you expected. 

He eyed your shopping bag, redirecting the conversation elsewhere, “Ah, did you go shopping recently? A shame the weather became so bad today, it was sunny earlier.” he stared off into the sky, watching as rain continued to pour down incessantly. 

You sighed, “Right? One second I’m shopping and it’s fine and the other it’s beginning to rain the moment I step out. I was just trying to finish an errand but got wound up stuck in the storm, talk about bad timing,” 

Kurode hummed understandingly, “Yeah, I get you,” 

He went on to explain his story as well. Apparently it was just by coincidence, just as it started raining, this bench was the closest shelter to him. He eventually revealed that he went outside to avoid some sort of conflict at home, which you didn’t pry into, assuming it was personal to him. You could tell he was thankful for that when he sent you a small smile at your empathetic nods in between his talk. You also noticed that when he spoke, he tapped his foot on the floor like a habit he couldn’t control, and a small irk mark appeared on his face when he described parts that made him upset. It must have really bothered him, you concluded. 

But in the end, he looked more relaxed than ever, having scooted a little  closer to you when the topics switched (while still maintaining some space between you two). And despite the closeness, you basked in his presence. It felt nice to be around him, fun, even. Even if he did laugh sometimes when he pulled a reaction out of you, you always ended up laughing, too. Maybe this bad weather wasn’t all that bad at all if it led you to him. 

“Kurode, it looks like the rain stopped!” you poked your head from under the tree and stepped forward, feeling no drops of rain anymore. “We talked for so long that it ended in no time.” 

His eyes widened, as if realizing the same thing, “Yeah, you’re right,” the button up shirt he wore wrinkled as he stood up to stretch. His eyes closed as he let out a large yawn. It kind of reminded you of a cat when they stretched, causing you to stifle a giggle, “Time passes by fast, huh? It felt like we stayed on that bench for only a couple minutes when maybe an hour or two actually passed.” 

Suddenly he sat back down, a sheepish look on his face, “Hey, feel free to decline. But stay, won’t you? Let's talk a bit more.”
