Just constant cuts to the future with Frodo chiming in as Bilbo tells the story to be like “that’s not how you told it when I was little!” and “wait, you never mentioned these orcs chasing you!”

And Bilbo hems and haws like “well, I didn’t want to scare the children” etc and we see the same scene get replayed multiple times with slight variations as Frodo and Bilbo bicker about the details of what actually happened

latest completed commission, featuring Morwen shortly after her arrival in Doriath. a quick shoutout to @outofangband, for their posts on Morwen have had me rotating her in my brain forever and overall very much helped create an image of her that I really drew on for this, especially this post which I really loved, about her general dismissiveness of the elves, most specifically and delightedly, taking a ‘lol lmao’ attitude to Fingon and Turgon themselves.

Denethor is a little overbearing about the fact that Boromir needs a wife and child to continue the long and glorious house of stewards, but Boromir just can't explain why this is not him

Seeing this, Faramir takes it on his shoulders to be the family disappointment. To distract his father, deflect, ease the tension, keep the peace, and protect the big brother that spends so much time protecting him

It started when Faramir was complaining about Denethor one day. Boromir listened and responded with "yeah, he never listens to my needs either," followed by a mini-rant along the lines of "I don't know how to explain it, but I just don't ever envision myself getting married, but he won't let that go"

Faramir stared for a moment as he realized. Boromir was queer too. Maybe not in the same way as him (transmasc), but there was something going on there for sure.

Faramir gently reached out and took his brother's hand. "Focus on the things that are important," he said. "You're good at leading the men. They respect you. They'll follow you. Just... just keep doing that. I'll help keep Father off your back for a while."

Boromir was baffled by this, and so touched that for a moment he couldn't respond. "Brother," he said finally. "I thought I was the one supposed to be protecting you."

"Whoever said we can't protect each other?" asked Faramir in return.
