[Tonia watched him as he finished what he was doing. She handed him the PADD a bit surprised by the state he was in. She always saw him very busy doing many things at once. It didnât seem to take a toll on him. However, now she could see his forced smile, tired eyes, and she heard his voice, once strong, now a bitâŠ. less? She hoped she wouldnât get in trouble⊠but she was not one to bite her tongue.]
Of course, Captain.
[She hesitated once more before asking. ]
If you donât mind me asking, are you alright sir? You look⊠tired to say the least. Maybe you should find time to rest a bit more.Â
[He smiled at her question, though far less out of some sort of captain's duty to be reassuring and instead more frankly. It was small. Jim ran his fingers through his cropped hair, twirling his stylus as he considered the question.]
Unfortunately there are only so many hours in a day and I'm playing a lot of catchup.
[He scrolled through the first few pages of the document she'd given him, sighing.]
Just before you came on board we landed ourselves in a bit of a predicament. I was knocked out for a good portion of it and the ship needed intensive repairs afterwards. The paperwork alone is a nightmare. And that's before all the debriefs with the Admiralty and the commendations and letters to family.
We're getting back on our feet, though.
