     “Ah, right. Yeah, they ain’t common in any world but mine apparently.” She would have let Morpeko out of her Pokeball, but she knew her partner was sleeping. “It’s short for ‘Pocket Monsters’. They’re like our friends.” Marnie was surely continuing to not be helpful.

     “That kinda hurts a bit to hear, but yer not wrong. I don’t have a lot of friends my age so I don’t really have any idea what they like t’do.”

     “Pocket Monsters.... Friends... That is still very vague. What      do these Pocket Monsters do?”

Could it be... Was Byleth her very own ‘Pocket Monster’?! Ah, no, probably not. Byleth wasn’t pocket size. Still, her words do make Sothis wince a little bit. She was still very blunt, it seemed like. It’s hard to dial it back, but if she’s going to make friends, then she needed to work on it.

     “I suppose I am still... working on being less blunt, so I must      apologize for my words. But, since we do not have a lot of friends,      how about we become friends!”

“Well! First thing’s first - pizza!” He’s probably way older than this sassy lost child, but that was okay. She looked like a weird princess anyway. “Pizza, and justice.”

     “Pizza... and justice...”

     “Pokemon trainin’. But there aren’t many Pokemon ‘round here I guess. Er… Fashion? Music? I don’t know what else kids my age do…”

     “Pokey-mon? What is a Pokey-mon? I have not heard of such      a thing before!”

     “With having a physical form now, I do believe it is time for me to...      make friends. However, I am unsure as to what the youth enjoy today.      So, it is your duty to tell me such!”

✦ “Hm. So you knew about that even after disappearing completely for almost two days?” Byleth was teasing, but her tone maintained its usual tone. Setting up the school had gone more smoothly than she’d been expecting honestly.

“Are you going to join as a teacher or a student then? I’m sure I could show you how to properly wield a sword despite your size.”

     “‘tis not a hard thing to.... not notice! You do have a sign right      outside of it. I simply passed by it and knew right away it was      your doing. You are very attached to your students and the      life you lived during your time there.”

     “-- A teacher would be most interesting, I must admit. A-And I can      wield a sword just fine! However, I am not interested in teaching      swordplay. No, if I am to teach something... I have decided I would      teach with fists!”

✦ “Oh? And where would my guest of honor like to eat?”

     “Well....”

“How about we vibe check a late lunch?”

✦ Words weren’t exchanged at first. Sothis knew she’d been planning on confessing of course, the goddess might as well have been her confidant at this point. Instead she just raised her hand on approach, expecting Sothis to replicate it and… gave her a high five.

Of course, Sothis had known what was to happen on the day of the party. To ignore the fact that the former professor had been interested in the Emperor would have been silly - and also impossible, considering the two were connected. At this point, it was straight up annoying! Why couldn’t Byleth be brave and just blurt her feelings out?!

Well, thankfully Sothis got her wish. When Byleth held her hand up, it took Sothis a minute to understand what she was doing, but once she did... Sothis cheered and gave her companion a high five.

Oh, right, this was the one that was needlessly spooked out about everything, weren’t they? Sothis waved a hand in front of the other girl’s face.

And so began the battle of wills.

“Is that so? You sound like quite the expert.” his tone conveys genuine relief, and Ashe lets go of a breath he’d been holding. “If that’s the case, I’m sure if we can just get to a physician and you tell them about this Updog they’ll know exactly what to do.” he could certainly be of help when it came to common ailments, but unfortunately he wasn’t qualified to handle epidemics like the one that had taken his parents.    

Ashe pulls out his map and runs his finger over it. “Aha! There’s an apothecary not too far from here!”

Either this brat of Byleth’s was the world’s most cunning person ever, or he really was foolish, naive and too nice for his own good. But, hey, if Sothis could deal with Byleth then surely she could take on an archer whose smile was too bright for the world!

     “Yes, I am quite the expert! Do not be alarmed, though, I      shall figure this out as soon as I can!”

Oh, and now he’s starting to try and find a physician. Maybe this has gotten a little out of hand. Quickly, Sothis held a hand up to stop him before he rushed them over there.
