The wings only refer to the numbers right next to yours in the Enneagram so if you are a 1 you can have a 2 or a 9 wing. However, if you see the actual map you’ll see that there is a line from 1 to 4 and another one from 1 to 7. This is what we call stress and heart points. Basically, when your predominant strategy needs a little help, lets say, you tend to lean into your four (stress point). Your heart point (if you are a 1) would be seven. Each personality type has both and regardless of the name (stress is a bit limiting) it's really the way your strategy adapts to your needs. You can read more about wings and heart and stress points on the app including the descriptions on how the main personality changes through the heart and stress point lenses. :) I can also just make a post about it if you’d like.
