He made a whole series of motel-based paintings (scroll down past the Drive-In Movie series) - my speculation is that the story is centered around the (sleeping) man and his relationships with at least 2 women and 1 man (over in his drawings)

Absolutely love it. Munch's work always connects with me in a way I can't explain. I wish I could see more of Munch's work in person.
