* ENGINEER GOD .

in  reality ,     the  bed  is  too  small  for  both  of  them  to  sleep  on ,     at  least     comfortably .     he  could  of  course ,     have  gone  back  to  his  own  room  a  little  further  down  the  hall  and  let  her  have  it     .     .     .     but  no .     so  she  rest  ontop  of  him          &         his  arms  slung  loosely  over  her  back .     somewhat  dressed ,     he  still  dones  his  pants  at  least ,     thrown  t - shirt  on  the  floor  before  crawling  in     :     and  she  does  too ,     plus  a  t - shirt ,     some  blanket  pulled  over  them  to  keep  warm .     too  tired  for  anything  else  when  falling  to  bed  after  working  on  something  for  sinclair  all  day          &      it’s  not  like  he’ll  complain .     her  face  nuzzled  into  the  crook  of  his  neck     :     warm  breath  tickling  evenly  against  his  throat ,     her  weight  welcome  ontop  of  himself .     

that’s  how  he  fell  asleep  anyways .

wakes  up  when  she  shifts  ontop  of  him ,     sliding  a  little  off  him  and  to  the  side          &          there’s  a  small  grunt  of  discomfort  when  elbow  press  against  his  chest .     press  disappears  after  a  moment     :     eyes  open  and  he  almost  immediately  clock  in  on  her  features  in  the  dark .     light  from  a  lamp  forgotten  to  be  turned  off  on  some  surface  in  the  distance .     a  sight  to  behold .     still  sleepy ,     hair  lose  from  her  usual  ponytail          &          she  doesn’t  look  like  she  carry  the  world  on  her  shoulders .     lips  hover  just  over  his  own  as  she  prop  up  on  elbow  just  by  his  head     :     and  gaze  shift  down  to  plump  lips  after  a  few  seconds ,     hand  goes  to  cup  side  of  her  face ,     thumb  trace  lower  line  of  her  timbre .

there’s  a     uncommon     silence     over  him  while  working          &          usually ,     there  is  very  little  that  can  pull  him  out  until  he’s  done  when  he  sits  down  like  this .     there  are  usually  humming ,     comments ,     something     :     but  rarely  silence  fills  the  engineer  room .     unless  he  really  is  focused  on  something .     unless  he  really  put  thought  and  heart  into  it          &          it’s     new .     not  something  he’s  designed  and  worked  with  a  thousand  times  already .     so ,     there’s  more  of  those  moments  on  the  ground .     new  things  to  tackle     :     and  he  enjoy  it  more  than  he’ll  ever  voice .     but  the  way  lips  brush  over  inked  skin  on  his  neck     :     it  pause  him  for  a  moment          &          he  sucks  in  a  deep  breath . 

❛                              hey ,          ❜          voice  is  a  soft  gravel  as  head  turns  in  her  direction     :     gaze  slowly  wash  across  her  features .     takes  her  in ,     noses  nearly  bumping  into  one  another          &          there’s  hint  of  a  grin  tugging  at  the  corner  of  lips .     yeah ,     might  not  always  so  easily  distract  from  work     :     but  with  her ,     it’s     different .     mostly  everything  is .     didn’t  expect  her  here  tho ,     thought  she  would  be  out  with  the  others  looking  for  clarke .     still ,     hand  shift  up  to  the  side  of  her  neck          &          pulls  her  a  bit  closer ,     kiss  in  greeting .          ❛          thought  you  were  gonna  be  out  for  the  day .          ❜

tinker  with  a  new  project     :     and  it’s  been     silent     in  the  room  for  quite  some  time  now .     a     comfortable     silence  tho ,     with  just  the  hum  of  the  ark  as  a  background          &          the  soft  tick  of  a  clock  on  the  wall .     usually  dwelve  into  a  new  project     :     until  he  gets  somewhere ,     and  these  days  it’s  a  little  more  important  than  just  a  air  filter  being  clogged  or  needs  to  be  changed .     not  something  he  can  discuss  with  anyone  other  than  sinclair  and  a  few  others ,     but  trying  to  figure  out  a  way  to  do     six     months     worth  of  work  in     two     .   .   .     even  put  a  damper  on  his  usually     witty     mood .          

can  feel  her  hand  on  his  shoulder          &          tip  of  her  nose  brush  against  cheek     :     easily  break  consentration .     she  does  that  easier  than  anyone  else     :     and  head  turns  towards  her ,     dark  gaze  shift  across  her  features  for  a  moment          &          small  grin  tug  at  the  corner  of  lips .     maybe  not  in  a  relationship ,     but  there’s  a  comfort  between  them ,     intimacy     :     even  if  it  was  just  in  the  form  of  a  few  handsy  makeouts .

❛                                    suddenly  you  got  to  ask     ?          ❜

but  nothing  seems  to  be     minor     down  here .     everything  that  happened ,     had  a  ripple  affect  on  everything          &          everyone  that  recided  within  the  bunker .     so  when  she  comes  into  the  engineer  room ,     breath  softly  exhales  as  he  looks  up  at  her     :     elbows  on  the  table ,     already  hunkered  over  a  project ,     already  working  in  trying  to  make  this  place  up  to  code .          

❛                               yeah ,     how     minor     would     you     say     it     really     is     ?          ❜   

she  has  always  held  a     special     place  in  his  heart ,     one  way  or  another .     and  been  so ,     long  before  first  kiss  ever  took  place ,     just  a  few  feet  away  from  where  they  stand  right  now .     even  on  the  ark ,     tho  he  had  kept  a  distance  because  of  her  boyfriend .     not  kept  totally  civil     :     perhaps  a  few  comments  here  and  there  and  it  didn’t  mean  he  hadn’t  flirted     shamelessly ,     but  nothing  more  than  that .     not  pushing  anything          &          not  crossing  any  lines .          

(          but     something     about     her    wits          &          the     way     she     ran     circles     around     everyone     else     that     had     intrigued     him     from     the     very     first     time    he    met     her .          )        

she  was  beautiful ,     sure ,     nobody  could  deny  that     :     but  she  was  smart .     brain  on  those  shoulders .     smarter  than  anyone  else  she  knew          &          she  was  strong .     rarely  took  no  for  an  answer ,     always  seemed  to  find  a  way  to  do  things     :     even  if  it  took  a  little  extra .     humor  twinkle  in  his  eyes          &          there’s  a  grin  forming     :     closing  the  barely  there  distance  between  them .     a  little  rocky  perhaps ,     not  always  that  easy  to  keep  up  with  where  her  head’s  at ,     but  guess  that’s  something  he’s  just  gotta  get  used  to .     is     used     to .     calloused  palm  goes  to  the  side  of  her  neck          &          thumb  brush  along  underline  of  her  jaw ,     leaning  down  so  lips  are  a  mere  breath  away  from  hers .
