Nerida Pearlpool is a first year in the Rainbopia dorm. She is a mermaid from the kingdom of Aqualilia, but was raised in the Coral Sea. She is actually the daughter of the king and queen and was whisked away as a baby after her life was put in danger. She lives with her nanny, Aunt Charybdis ("Chary" for short).

She has the power to control pearls and can even change people's appearances with it. She has mastered this power, but is often warned to not show off and keep her powers on the down low. It also makes her popular among students during special occasions on campus.

She is very kind, caring, and curious about the world around her. She was sent to PHA as her family feared those who tried to harm her were getting restless and were looking for her again. She meets Prince Rielle during a shared etiquette class with RSA and the two have become friends. He is unaware of her true identity.
