Danny whos been friends with Dick for like ever, so when Bruce is MIA and Dick is left with Damian and Tim, Danny is around to help.
Danny picked up a lot from just being around Jazz, so while hes in no way a professional, hes as close as they can get because the family refuses to seek real help.
He also helps ease Tim into his own moniker, and supports his ideas that Bruce is still out there. But he also works with Damian to find better coping mechanisms, even if those coping mechanisms are chasing Danny around the house.
Danny knows about the bat stuff, they know about the ghost stuff, but Danny is a civilian most of the time.
One day after months and months and months of work, Danny is sitting on the couch talking to Dick, and Damian wanders in. He was up all night paining, on top of patrolling so he's basically dead on his feet. He sits next to Danny and very slowly falls asleep and melts against him until he eventually curls up on Danny's lap. Danny shoots Dick a smug little smile that equates to "Hahaha I am the chosen one!" As Dick pounts jokingly.

Danny moves to Gotham and buys an apartment building.
It was more just a fun project for him to fix up the building, seeing as how after he took over VladCo, and cleaning up operations, Danny was making more money than ever, even after donating to various charities. So yeah, he was bored and just wanted to get his hands dirty and personally repair the appartments.
Once everything was fixed up, he opened the appartments for rent. He didn't really want to charge people, especially in such an area as Crime Alley, but not charging someone rent is way more sketchy than just asking them to pay whatever they could or wanted to. He ended up just setting the money aside to use on the appartments should it need any upgrades or repairs. He doesn't only take money either, while he denies "physical" payments and/or narcotics, he'll take lessons, like the man in 2B teaching him to sew, or the woman in 5A teaching him how to cook, or the two kids who give him very interesting shiny rocks as payment, there was even a few people who paid by cleaning the appartment building's shared places. One teenager paid rent one month by giving Danny a pair of sickly black and white kittens they found outside(they're named Casper, and Specter, and they're the Building's Managers in Pest Apprehension, and Danny loves them).
Because the appartments are so close to where the working girls/boys run, they make up most of his tenants, so Danny asks them to not bring clients back to the apartments, its dangerous to let their clients know where they live, especially because there are other tenants, including children, in the building so its a safety risk. They all agree, they don't really want their clients knowing where they live anyway.
Some do get stalkers though, and Danny is quick to get rid of them. Or when burglars manage to break in, Danny stops them before they can take anything, and if he managed to miss the burglar, he'll personally replace whatever was stolen until they could get the original stuff back. (Maybe he should adopt a gaurd dog, at least for the intimidation factor. Cane Corso's are medium sized*, hes sure he could get away with getting something like that. Something to think about later.)
A lot of his tenants say Danny is really kind, but thats not how Danny sees it, and its something he loudly denies. He's a bored rich person who was taking advantage of his wealth. Him providing them a safe place to live, and a little bit of comfort isn't kindness, its basic human decency. He's not some saint who is doing this of his own kind heart, he's a normal guy who was bored and just decided to do something helpful opposed to harmful, and he shouldn't be praised for that.
*Danny's idea of Dog sizes is skewed, to him Cugo is a big dog, anything smaller than that is medium to small to xsmall.
Bonus
-Red Hood(or the bats in general) thinks the appartment building was suspicious. Maybe it was some rich guy just being nice, but outside of Bruce, stuff like that doesn't happen in Gotham. Maybe its money laundering, or its acting as an underground brothel, or the owner is actually a massive creep. Either way, they want to be discreet, they don't want to ruin a good thing for people in need if everything happens to be clean happenings. So, they go under cover, Jason acts like a working boy, Damian is a abused kid/teen on the run, Steph is hiding from a abusive ex, maybe Alfred gets in on it and acts like an old man whos boss just fired him because of with no severance pay?
-Everytime Danny starts to get bored, he buys another building to fix up. Not always appartment building's, maybe a hotel, or an auto garage, or an abandoned building he could gut and turn into rec center. You'd think Danny would be burning through money, but no, somehow Danny's happenings leaked and it was good press because people are buying things from VladCo more and more.
Barry: Okay. Stay here. I'll go check it out. *Picks up bat* If you hear me shout Code 16 use our home invasion plan delta.
Iris: Okay.
Barry walking through the dark house until he sees a light in the kitchen: AH-HA!
Danny eating out of the open fridge: Hmm-whaa!?
Barry: Wait a minute, you're just a kid. What are you doing?
Danny: I'm sorry! I was hungry! I didn't know anyone was home, but I swear I didn't mean any harm!
Barry: I see. How long has it been since you last had food?
Danny: I don't know.
Barry: Really?
Danny sniffing: I'll leave, I'm sorry. Please don't call the cops.
Barry putting the bat down: Leaving before my one am meal? You can't! Stay, I could use the company.
Danny: ....one am meal?
Barry: Yeah, I can whip us up some pizzas. *turning to yell* IRIS, IT'S ALL GOOD. GO BACK TO BED. I'M GOING TO EAT
Iris: OKAY! ENJOY!
Danny: Um?
Barry: I have pepperoni, sausage or plain cheese. Which do you prefer?
Danny: Wait. Are you really going to make me pizza?
Barry: Well, it's frozen pizza. It takes about 15 minutes in my toaster oven, but trust me, it's the best brand. My nephew swears by it. My name is Barry, by the way, what's yours?
Danny: I...Ugh I'm Danny.
Barry: Nice to meet you Danny. You want to crash here after we eat?
Danny: What?
Barry: Spend the night here. A nap after eating always feels best.
Danny: ....what?
A few hours later Barry slipping back into bed: Iris.
Iris: Hmm?
Barry: I've adopted a son. His name is Danny. He's fifteen, meta, and running from his parents. Sweet thing. He took over the guest room, so now when we have guests stay over, they have to sleep on the pull-out couch.
Iris half alseep: Sounds good. Does he have your eyes?
Barry: Yeah surprisingly he does. I tucked him into bed.
Iris: That's nice.
Danny two walls away dressed in Wally' pjs, with a full stomch and freshly showered: How...how did he convince me to be adopted in only one hour???? Is he a witch?????
Some time in the future
JL has been razzing Batman about his adoption problem, and a Green Lantern (Hal probably) notices that Barry never joins in on it.
At first people just dismiss it as Barry just being nice, but he is perfectly willing to joke about other things so it eventually becomes noticeable.
Green Lantern eventually asks (harasses) him about it and
Barry: sighs shaking his head "I do try to avoid being a hypocrite whenever possible."
GL: "I mean yeah, you took care of Wally, and have adopted Bart, but adopting abused and time displaced relatives is just not the same thing as old Spooky is doing."
Batman chuffs softly but doesn't make a statement . Batman knows Barry's family make up because he helps fund the Justice League and subsidizes the hero's household budgets as needed.
Barry: Rolls his eyes "Yeah I have Wally and Bart, I also have Danny, Jazz, Dani, Dan, and occasionally Sam and Tucker who I didn't actually adopt but come with the Danny package."
GL: "Danny, Dani, and Dan? Why do I feel like there is a story there?"
Barry: "Probably because there is." *several seconds of uncomfortable silence with GL just stairing at Barry. "Fine." *Barry throws up his hands.* "Danny was sneaking into houses, he though were empty, to eat food after his parents attacked him and chased him out of his home town when they found out he was a meta. Even though the lab accident where he got his powers was their own damn fault! Like the crackpot mad scientists they are." Barry muttered the last darkly before in true Flash fashion lightening up. "Jazz is Danny's older sister, who was also impacted by their parents "work" if not as severely, and followed Danny after laying a false trail thoughout the lower 48 states and Mexico."
The JL shares some looks around at that, that is some extensive false trail laying for being kicked out for being a meta.
Barry: Dani, that is Dani with an "i", is an imperfect clone of Danny made by his super villain Godfather when Danny refused to be his evil minion, she eventually also turned against him and was taken in by Danny."
Wonderwoman nodded: "So of course you took her in, I would expect nothing less of you Flash."
Barry: *blushed* "Well, she actually happen about six months before I found Danny riffling though my fridge like a particularly tall and dexterous raccoon. He had spent around a year and change after his lab accident as a small town vigilantly before his parents found out about his meta status and forced him to go on the run."
GL: "And Dan?" he asked with some trepidation.
Barry: "Reformed evil alternate Danny, from a future timeline that can never now happen, that has had his spirit put into an other wise empty Danny clone."
GL: *Faintly* "So he had the full superhero *experience* before you even met him then?"
Barry: *Nodding* "Yeah, pretty much."
i know hes trying to make fun of the city slickers here but the way this is written really makes it sound like he is Not At All having fun with his country work and he wants to be at party
