During mine and Dan’s time interviewing people down at the gardens about their feelings towards the space we came across a man singing and drumming hare krishna mantra walking through the gardens. He spoke about the spirituality of the place and his worshipping of it. This reminded me again of the spiritual connections with the pine and the goddess of Rhea, that i wish to personify and encompass translated into the modern day setting.  

Helping the sea front staff collect the sand from the promenade that had collected in just one day me aware of how much maintenance needs to be put in place in order to keep the space accessible and presentable for the general public. Their 7 day week starts at 5am and lasts until 1pm in summer, clearing sand and depositing it back onto the beach.

The audience are invited to participate in the performance by allowing themselves to be directed through the paths of the gardens according to the responses they give at intersections. The gardens become a virtual type of flowchart which is centered on British written and unwritten rules alongside stereotype.
