It is a rare sight, and it makes Narcissa smile. “Isabella.” Social necessities push them apart, even when they could talk for hours, whenever they see each other – and more. A woman in their place needs a husband – and cannot be seen with someone of questionable reputation. Which is why Isabelle comes so rarely in the first place. A pity.

“Narcissa, I wouldn't be here, if it wasn't...”

“An emergency.” Narcissa pats her hand gently and leads her into her salon. Now that Isabella is here, she won't let herself get rushed. She serves tea (herself, one has standards), gossips, sneaks in all the quiet touches she possibly can, watching Isabella relax and her beauty unfold. It's never the same with men, they marry her, while she is happy and then steal that happiness away from her.

Just now she can tell, Isabella doesn't know how to start. Not because she would judge or put her down. Just because... it's not the first time. It's a pattern.

“Does he hit you? Hex you?”

Isabella doesn't say a word, but the way she brushes her face with her hand tells enough. “I... wouldn't want him to come to harm. Just discourage him from...”

Narcissa doesn't let her finish. “He deserves the harm that's coming to him.” And it's not like Isabella doesn't have a reputation already. “My pleasure, dearest. But please... don't marry again right away, will you? He is rich enough to keep you safe for quite a time.”

I wanted to finally share this Sirius and Remus drawing I never got around to post.

It took me a while to finish, and at first I felt like I could do it better so I put it aside and thought I’d redo it later. But as time passed, I started to like it more and more. Maybe it was the time I spent on it, or maybe I just got used to seeing it.

What I mean to say is: even if you feel stuck with where you are right now, or think “this isn’t good enough”, take a moment to recognize it for what it is: growth. Later on, you will realize how much you value those little steps your past self took, and see that it’s thanks to them that you are where you are now 🌱
