Bored nearly to tears, Henry moves to retire an abused milk jug. The Doctor holds up her glass apologetically.

“Sorry, mate, can I get another?”

She’s already had three glasses, but it’s to be expected, really. Regeneration is a slip and a fall away, the universe is being held together by band-aids and some string, and Yasmin Khan is in love with her.

Summary:

He doesn’t deserve her empathy, of course, and it’s always infuriating to be reminded that she doesn’t have the means to shake it, and he doesn’t have the capacity to feel it. The Doctor has always drowned in compassion whilst the Master held his breath. He left his hearts in a war, and so did she, but at least she went back for them. He never even tried. “What happened to you?” - The Doctor finds the Master at the end of the universe, and the end of his rope.

Summary:
