My biology teacher read one of Sappho's poems in class as an example of how the sympathetic nervous system reacts to stressors such as love AND mentioned that Sappho was a lesbian AND said that the biological reaction to love happens regardless of gender?? Am I in heaven?

Note: Madoka is faceless because Homura knew this decision would truly change their roles forever, meaning Madoka will no longer be the "Madoka" that gave her hope and love. But as long as she was there with her, it didn't matter how wrong it was.

I was scrolling hetalia fics on ao3 in my second language (Polish) for like the first time just out of curiosity if any even existed and I managed to stumble upon the most emotional, gut-wrenching, beautifully written story set in ww2 about war, love, pain, humanity, guilt, and acceptance and I genuinely haven't been the same since.
It was a Pruspol fic. I don't ship Pruspol. I read the fic. I do now.
I have been left broken and wounded yet reborn anew after reading this piece of fiction and I don't know what to do with myself. I am actively summoning the courage to ask the author if I may write an English translation, even though I know the English language won't posses the same elegance to capture the pure emotion and beauty of the written Polish. I wonder if anyone would be interested to read.
Screw you, hetalia fics. Must you be so emotional and depressing when your source material is what it is? Never do stop, I beg.
I swear if there was an English version it would have reached Lily of the Lamplight-levels of popularity AT LEAST. I would so read this in English
I first started reading this fic on Wattpad years ago, back when I just got into Hetalia, because I thought the name sounded cool. I didn't finish it back then, maybe it was too long for the 11 year old me. But even just a few chapters left such a strong impression on me. I have based my entire perception of Fela and Gilbert, and their relationship off of this work
I rediscovered it a few months ago on ao3 and man, I can't even put into words how I felt after being done with reading 100 000 words of straight literary peak.
I especially love the compass symbolizm, and Ludwig's mental journey. Dare I say that in my opinion that part was handled and explored way better than in Auf Wiedersehn, Sweetheart? I love this competent and determined, but still on occasion emotional, version of Feliks. I love how the A and B plots are inherently entangled with each other. AND I LOVE GILBERT SO MUCH, he was so caring towards his brother. I'm such a sucker for sibling angst
Honestly I think you should totally go for it and ask KaiShouri for permission to translate it, the PrusPol community isn't all that big (especially the English one) but I'm sure everyone who'd want to read a fic like that but can't because they don't speak Polish would be so grateful
Dude it makes me so happy to see other people who experienced the absolute shameless beauty of this fic π₯Ή
The compass symbolism was sooooo gut-wrenchingly good and genuinely my heart squeezes every time I think about it. And I absolutely ADORED how all the plot points were tied together so well!! I think that was one of my favourite aspects of the entire fic, seriously. It was so heartbreaking how every action, even the smaller ones, had a consequence that eventually came back to haunt them. All the characters were written in such a painfully beautiful and human way, and so were their relationships with eachother. Gilbert, Ludwig, Feliks.... My heart (β Β΄β ;β οΈ΅β ;β `β )
I got permission(woo!!!) and have been slowly working on the translation and oh my goddd γβ (β οΏ£β Οβ οΏ£β γβ ) I am having the time of my life picking apart every aspect of the author's writing and word choice and style,,, gahh it's been great.
...And, β’Μβ Β β Β β βΏβ Β β ,β β’Μ Quite funnily, in writing the translation, there are some moments that I realise I didn't fully understand/ I misinterpreted when I first read them, and now they make so much more sense after I asked my polish friend to explain and translate them for me XDD! So I've made sure to consult with her whenever I run into a scene my stupid anglo arse isn't fluent enough to get, and still can't piece together after throwing it into a translator LOL!
HELL YEAH, I'm so happy you got the permission, I can't wait to start reading this fic again but in English, I'm sure it's gonna be fire even in a different language
Honestly I blame this fic for giving me inspiration to draw like, 5 different PrusPol projects that I have absolutely no time for lol
And also I really hope that KaiShouri will write some PrusPol again, I like her LietPol content, but every single thing she wrote about PrusPol just hits different, from a 100k word fic to a oneshot hidden in the depths of Wattpad
AND I so so hope that Paragraph 175 will reach at least a somewhat wider audience once your English translation comes out, language barriers are so painful in fandoms ΰΌΰΊΆβ βΏβ ΰΌΰΊΆ
I'm having a loooot of fun poking at the question of what Ludwig even *is* when his body isn't something that came into existence along with his mind, but rather something that already existed and he received to occupy.
Usually, a person's name is, in the simplest terms, a sound you put to a face, and usually, even when that name changes, or the person it belongs to changes, there's continuity, a sense that what was before is intrinsically tied to what is now. Not so here; it's a clean cut. Holy Rome out, Ludwig in. The shell is the same, but what it houses isn't. Is the body still Holy Rome, somehow? Was it ever, or is just a box? What is a nation's body? It's scary to think that what *you* are is intangible and what you *are*, your body, could belong to anyone. Anything.
Whether this little sludge creature is actually physically there or just a visual representation of whatever the hell the "spirit" of a nation might be, I'll leave up to you to decide. The googly eyes are crucial, though.
