I’m absolutely terrified... 

I reached out to set up an appointment with a mental health counselor. I’m going to spill the painful details about what had happened over a month ago. About how my skin was wrongfully bruised by the very man I once called my love.

Lately, my eyes have been flooded with tears.

How could they not?

So many are getting hurt,

While they stood and fought.

  And the news has been flooded, 

About these protests and riots. 

This ongoing oppression, 

Man, can we still fight it.

  But I’m scared for my little nephew, 

Who’s visibly black.

When he grows older, 

Will he be attacked?

  Now why should it matter, 

If our skin color is black, green, or blue.

Unless these colors show up as bruises,

Then it matters to me &  you.

  We’re all human aren’t we?

Why do we have to discriminate?

I’m so tired of living in a world, 

Where there’s an abundance of hate.

  To hear the words “I can’t breathe” 

To watch an insufferable fate.

I can’t imagine the pain, 

The black community can’t escape.

  So I stand here today, 

I stand with friends and family.

I stand for black lives.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on this site. I miss it..

The hilarious memes that I would come across, getting the latest scoop on upcoming movies, reading through heartwarming poetry and eye opening stories from the other folks on here. It was nice. 

It felt like opening up a time capsule that I buried 6 years ago, left untouched but still fresh in my memories as if I was living in its exact time.
