Listen, listen dudes, what if … what if the Sides were real, like just real people chilling. Maybe they’re all brothers or live together or friends or some dating, but the point is they just live somewhere in the states, living their best life.

But Thomas Sanders is also real. He’s the same Thomas Sanders we know and love, just without the Sanders Sides series. He’s still the internet’s golden retriever in human form, making videos, also living his best life.

But then what if one of the sides is out and about in public, and they see Thomas freaking Sanders across the way in their town visiting for something, and they start spazzing out because they’ve seen his videos and are huge fans.

Like Roman would approach him all suave, “As I live and breathe, Thomas Sanders. What great adventure brings you here all the way from Florida?” Honestly half of the conversation would probably be Roman flirting with him and the other half is Thomas asking him why he’s walking around in a prince costume.

Or if it was Patton, Thomas just hearing this distance squealing that starts getting louder and louder the closer it gets until Thomas looks up in confusion to see this dad-like man booking it over to him, waving his arms in a flappy excited motion. “Tom! Thomas! Tomathy! It’s you! I’m a big fan!”

Logan would of course be the most calm about it. He probably doesn’t approach Thomas at all, coming home that day casually telling the others, “So I saw Thomas Sanders today.” The others flip out like HOW DID YOU NOT EVEN TALK TO HIM?!?!?! And Logan shrugging because he didn’t want to bother him, even though he’s as big of a fan as the others are.

And then if it were Virgil, he sees Thomas but isn’t sure it’s really him, and is squinting at him, but then Thomas looks up and–yep, that’s definitely Thomas freaking Sanders–and he notices Virgil looking and smiles and waves back at him, and Virgil’s eyes go wide and he immediately ducks down behind a bench or something, calling the others frantically, “I just made eye contact with Thomas Sanders, what do I do????” Until Thomas pokes his head over like, “Hi there, you okay buddy?”

It’s Patton’s birthday today!!!!! (and this time he’s wearing his glasses)

i also don’t presume to know him as a person. sure i know the version of him that he puts online, and i enjoy that version of him, but that’s not the same as a connection that you’d have with a friend. i’m v aware that i am a fan, and he is a content creator, and that’s that.

however.

i think that he might be at a bit of a crossroads when it comes to content atm. the creation of the new channel thomas and friends is the clearest indicator. 

at first, i hoped that this divide meant that there would be more regularly-uploaded content incoming; i know that sanders sides (esp in the past year) has taken a sharp upward turn in production value/script writing/time, generally, so i figured lighter, funner content (video game stuff, challenge vids like that pasta contest ep, even the workout vid, which is a fav of mine!) would be uploaded and then sanders sides every once in a while.

that’s not… really… happening, though.

this kind of became a bit more noteworthy (to me) when i saw someone post a “sanders sides in review: 2018″ post. 

there were five sanders sides eps in 2018 this year. five. again! i know! production and scriptwriting take time! there are probably things that happened in thomas/joan’s life that made obstacles in writing eps! there are definitely things i don’t know about this! i understand that! it’s just… well, not every vid has to be a “can lying be good,” you know? they can be q and a’s, and they can be “the mind vs the heart” (five minutes, eighteen seconds, the shortest in the series!) 

honestly, i think the sides could play mario kart and take like 6 minutes and we’d be thrilled with it. and i think the joy of making your own content is that it can be varied like that; vids can range from 5:18 with two major characters, to 38:16 with significant character reveals from all sides and amazing production value and costume changes. it can be anything.

if he’s burnt out, that’s okay. that’s okay! it happens to literally everyone! he can focus on making lighthearted content all he wants! 

and i’m gonna have to cite ron swanson on this one. don’t half-ass two things; whole-ass one thing.

I’m not saying I dislike the longer more intense stuff, I just sort of feel like each episode is trying to outdo the last, and I just wish I could tell them they really don’t have to. It would be really, really, really okay, if there were some shorter, more light-hearted episodes now and again. In fact I think it would offer us a nice break and would also be a bit of a breather for the production team. 

So after literally forever of planning out this story, I’m super excited to finally post the prologue! This story will be quite long, but I’m not sure exactly how long. I will post Chapter 1 some time in early January, and obviously keep going from there because that’s how numbers work. Starting at Chapter 1, the story will also be available on AO3. Hopefully you guys will enjoy this! I know it’ll be fun to write!

We’re not stupid. We don’t listen to them - we fight back. And for that, they call us criminals. Terrorists. They tell the world we are dangerous, drastic, threatening. We fight back, but we fight on eggshells, because we know one wrong move could mean a death penalty on our heads.

All our lives, we’ve been told we and our rebellious ideals are not wanted. But we will make ourselves wanted. We will rise from the ground and take down this pathetic excuse for a government.
