(Author's notes: The Nephilim lore in this fic is heavily inspired by the Supernatural tv show, thus the reader’s angelic parent is named Castiel, but otherwise the character is not based on the tv show at all. I imagined DMC5 Dante while I wrote this, but it takes place before the events of DMC5 as Dante still has The Rebellion (or in an alternate universe, whichever you prefer) Full disclosure! I did run this fic thru an AI engine strictly for spelling, grammar fixes, and formating, but the story is entirely my own. This can be read as a oneshot, but I do plan to add more chapters)
The city of Red Grave pulsed with a restless energy, a familiar hum beneath the surface that most humans ignored. But you weren't most humans.
As a Nephilim, daughter of an angel and a human, you felt the subtle shifts in the spiritual currents, the faint scent of demonic presence clinging to the night air like ozone before a storm.
Your existence was a paradox, a bridge between two warring worlds, and a secret you guarded fiercely. But secrets had a way of unraveling, especially when you were actively seeking answers.
Tonight, the trail led to a crumbling, abandoned warehouse district, far from the city's glittering lights. The air grew heavy here, thick with the stench of decay and something far more sinister.
You clutched the hilt of your celestial blade, its faint glow a cold comfort against the encroaching darkness. This wasn't just another hunt; this demon, a lesser fiend named Volak, was rumored to have once served an angelic patron.
Information about your angelic father was scarce, a gaping hole in your past you desperately sought to fill. Volak was a lead, a dangerous thread you couldn't afford to ignore.
Every shadow seemed to writhe, every creak of rusted metal sounded like a whispered threat. You moved with practiced grace, a phantom in the urban decay, your senses heightened.
A sudden, guttural roar echoed from within the largest warehouse, followed by the unmistakable clang of steel against something unholy. You weren't alone.
A shiver, not of fear, but of anticipation, traced its way down your spine. Another hunter. And from the sound of it, a powerful one.
Your quest for answers just got significantly more complicated, and perhaps, a lot more interesting.
You approached the warehouse entrance cautiously, the sounds of battle growing more intense. Flashes of crimson light illuminated the grimy interior, hinting at the chaos within.
The scent of demon blood mingled with something else—something distinctly... half-demon. It was an aroma you recognized from old texts, a rare, potent signature.
Peeking around a bent metal beam, you saw him. Tall, clad in faded red leather, a massive sword, Rebellion, held with casual mastery. Dante. The legendary devil hunter.
He moved with a deadly grace, a smirk playing on his lips even as he parried a monstrous claw. Volak, the demon you sought, was cornered, spitting venom, clearly outmatched.
“Aw, is that all you got, ugly?” Dante drawled, his voice a low rumble that carried effortlessly over the din. “I was hoping for a bit more of a workout.”
You watched, unseen, as he effortlessly dispatched a wave of lesser demons, his movements a blur of red and steel. He was formidable, dangerous, and entirely too captivating.
Volak let out a desperate shriek, scrambling away from Dante's next attack, its eyes wide with terror. This was your chance.
You tightened your grip on your blade, a plan forming. You needed Volak alive, or at least coherent enough to answer your questions. Dante, however, looked ready to finish it off.
Your presence was still undetected. A choice loomed: intervene and risk revealing yourself to the notorious devil hunter, or let him destroy your only lead to your angelic heritage.
Dante raised Rebellion, a glint in his blue eyes promising the demon's swift end. The moment stretched, pregnant with unspoken possibilities.
Your celestial blade spun, a blur of silvery light, piercing the air with a soft whistle. It slammed into the fleeing Volak’s shoulder, embedding deep into the grimy metal wall with a sickening crunch. The demon shrieked, its struggles abruptly cut short, pinned like a monstrous butterfly.
Dante, mid-swing with Rebellion, froze. His attack on the lesser demons paused as his head snapped up, those piercing blue eyes sweeping across the cavernous warehouse. He tracked the path of your blade, then landed on your hiding spot behind the beam. A slow, infuriatingly confident smirk spread across his face, replacing the earlier casual indifference.
He slowly lowered Rebellion, turning his full attention to you. His presence filled the silence, heavy and electric.
“Well, look what the demon dragged in. Knew this party was getting a little too quiet.” He called out.
He took a languid step towards you, not menacingly, but with an unhurried confidence that dared you to move.
“I need it alive… for now. I have some questions for our mutual friend here.” You said, emerging from your hiding place
Dante's smirk widened, a mischievous glint in his blue eyes. He pushed a hand through his silver hair, leaning slightly against Rebellion, which was now casually slung over his shoulder.
He chuckled, “Our mutual friend? Pretty sure this one just became *my* target after he trashed my favorite pizza joint. So, I’m kinda owed a finishing blow.”
He glanced from you to the demon struggling against your blade, then back again, his gaze lingering with an unnerving calm. Volak whimpered, fear evident in its eyes, a tiny flicker of hope sparked by your intervention. You could feel Dante's attention, heavy and assessing.
“Listen, I’m sorry about your pizza place, but I’ve been tracking this demon for months.” Ignoring the weight of Dante's gaze, you stride forward across the warehouse floor, your boots echoing against the cold concrete. Volak's pinned form writhes weakly against the wall, its demonic eyes flickering with a mix of rage and desperation as you close the distance.
The air thickens with the acrid tang of its blood, but you focus, drawing on the celestial energy humming in your veins to steady your voice.
“You served an angel once. Which one? Tell me everything you know about him.” You questioned.
Volak hisses, its jagged teeth bared, but the blade's glow forces a pained compliance. It squirms, voice a guttural rasp that scrapes against the silence.
“The Seraph... Castiel. He... he abandoned his post for a mortal whore. Spawned you abominations.”
The words hit like a blade of their own, confirming fragments of whispers you'd chased for years. Dante shifts behind you, his presence a steady pressure at your back, Rebellion still in hand but lowered now, his blue eyes narrowing as he listens.
“Castiel, huh? Sounds like daddy dearest left quite the mess.”
Volak's revelation hangs in the air, a thread pulling at the edges of your hidden past, while the demon's struggles weaken, its secrets spilling out under duress. But Dante's casual interjection sharpens the tension, his voice laced with that infuriating mix of mockery and intrigue.
Your glare slices toward Dante, sharp enough to cut through his smirk, but he just raises an eyebrow, unfazed, his blue eyes sparkling with amusement as he watches you.
You turn back to Volak, stepping closer to the pinned demon, the celestial blade humming faintly against its leathery hide. The air tastes of sulfur and old secrets as you lean in, voice steady despite the interruption.
“What else? Where is he now? Any weaknesses, allies—give me everything.” You questioned further.
Volak's eyes dart, the fight draining from it as the blade's glow seeps into its wounds. It rasps, words tumbling out in a venomous whisper, each one pulling at the frayed edges of your heritage.
“Castiel... hides in the spires of Elysium's edge. Fallen but not broken. Serves no one now, but whispers of a pact with demons... for power. You... his blood calls to the abyss.”
The revelation hangs heavy, a map to forbidden places and tangled loyalties. Behind you, Dante shifts his weight, Rebellion tapping lightly against the floor, his presence a reminder that you're not alone in this hunt.
“Elysium's edge? Sounds like a vacation spot. You planning a family reunion?” He asks you.
His tone is light, teasing, but there's an undercurrent of genuine curiosity as he steps closer, the warehouse shadows playing across his strong features, drawing your eye despite yourself.
You grip your celestial blade, a silent refusal of Dante’s remark. With a sharp tug, the silver energy shimmers as it detaches from Volak’s shoulder and pulls free of the metallic wall. The demon cries out, a thin, final sound as its body goes slack, falling heavily to the concrete floor, unmoving.
The blade returns to your hand, a familiar hum resonating through your palm as Volak’s form slowly, almost gracefully, begins to dissolve into a dark mist. The oppressive scent of decay thins, replaced by the cleaner, crisp smell of dissipation.
Dante watches the demon's disappearance, his expression unreadable for a fleeting moment. His initial smirk fades into something more contemplative, a hint of something deeper in those blue eyes as his gaze sweeps back to you.
“Quick and clean. You’re efficient, But 'Elysium’s Edge' isn’t exactly on the typical demonic hit list.” His voice, though still casual, carries a sharper edge, a note of genuine curiosity replacing the earlier amusement. He takes another slow step, closing a small part of the distance between you, making his imposing presence felt.
“I have to go.” Your words cut through the warehouse's lingering silence, the echo bouncing off rusted walls as Volak's mist fully dissipates.
Dante tilts his head, Rebellion still balanced on his shoulder, his blue eyes locking onto yours with a mix of appraisal and that ever-present smirk.
“Elysium’s Edge? Alone? That's bold, even for a Nephilim throwing blades like party favors.”
He steps forward, boots scraping the concrete, closing the gap without crowding, his red coat swaying slightly in the draft from a broken window.
“Word of advice: places like that don't play nice with solo acts. Especially not ones chasing daddy issues.” He comments.
The faint glow of your blade fades in your grip as moonlight filters through cracks in the roof, casting long shadows that dance between you.
Outside, the distant hum of the city picks up, a reminder that the night isn't over yet.
“Why do you care what I do next?” Your voice coming out harsher than you intended.
Dante's mouth twitches up into a smirk, a flash of something unreadable in his bright blue eyes as they track across your face. He shrugs casually, Rebellion still leaning against his shoulder like an extension of his own nonchalant power.
“Professional courtesy, mostly. Wouldn't want you tripping over an exposed demon or falling into an abyss because you're too busy having an existential crisis.”
He pauses, his gaze sharpening just a fraction, a silent assessment. The casualness in his voice never wavers, yet you feel a shift in the air around him, a hint of something deeper beneath his playful exterior.
“Plus, running into a Nephilim who pins demons to walls with a throwing knife? That's not exactly an everyday occurrence in Red Grave. Color me intrigued, babe.”
He pushes off the wall, closing another scant foot between you, his posture relaxed but with a palpable energy. He’s daring you to be offended, challenging you to react to his casual dismissal of your hunt for your father. Yet, a part of you recognizes the unusual curiosity in his tone.
“Now, about that pizza joint…” He trails off.
“I'm not doing this for the entertainment.” You say, rolling your eyes.
Dante's smirk fades into a half-grin, his blue eyes holding yours with a spark of something sharper than amusement. He shifts Rebellion to his other shoulder, the blade's weight barely registering on his frame.
“Fair enough. But chasing shadows about your old man? That's prime entertainment in my book.” He teases.
He glances toward the warehouse exit, where the city's distant lights flicker through the haze. The air between you cools, carrying the faint echo of Volak's final rasp.
“Tell you what—Elysium's Edge is no joke. Demons, angels, the whole mess. If you're set on it, maybe don't go solo.” His tone dips, less teasing now, a quiet edge of sincerity threading through.
He steps aside slightly, gesturing toward the door with a tilt of his head, inviting without demanding.
“I know a guy who owes me a favor. Could get us in without the welcoming committee.”
The offer hangs there, a bridge over the chasm of your solitary hunt, his presence suddenly less like an obstacle and more like an unexpected ally in the dim light.
“What's your angle in this?” You question suspiciously.
“My angle? Let's just say I've danced with angels and demons before. Got my own scores to settle up there.”
The warehouse creaks around you, but the real tension coils in the space between his words. Outside, a low rumble builds—not thunder, but something infernal, drawing closer.
“And you? Smell like trouble wrapped in holy light. If we're both heading to the same bad idea, might as well watch each other's backs.” He offers.
Before you can respond, the warehouse doors burst inward with a deafening crash. A swarm of lesser demons pour in, eyes glowing with hunger, drawn by Volak's death cry. They charge, claws scraping concrete, the air filling with their snarls.
Dante spins, Rebellion flashing up in a fluid arc. His smirk returns, fierce now, as he steps in front of you, positioning for the fight. The first demon lunges, and the clash erupts—steel meeting flesh in a spray of ichor.
“Looks like the party's crashed. You in, babe?”
His question hangs amid the chaos, a gauntlet thrown down as blades whirl and demons close in, forcing the decision in the heat of battle.
Your blade, imbued with celestial light, arcs as you leap forward. You carve a searing path through the rushing tide of demons, your movements a blur of practiced precision.
Dante meets the onslaught with a savage grin, Rebellion a red streak of vengeance. He parries, slashes, and blasts with Ebony and Ivory, a symphony of destruction as black demonic blood splatters the concrete.
A fiend lunges for your exposed flank, claws tipped with poison, but Dante is already there. Rebellion sweeps in a wide, elegant arc, cleaving the demon in two before it even touches you.
“Watch your back, firecracker. You'd ruin this coat if you got gutted.”
His words are playful, but his eyes, sharp and intense, quickly scan your periphery, gauging for the next threat. You return his silent vigilance, deflecting an attack that would have caught his blind spot.
A strange rhythm builds between you, a silent language of parries and thrusts, covering each other’s vulnerabilities as the remaining lesser demons fall like dominoes. The warehouse, moments ago a chamber of chaos, slowly quiets.
Smoke rises from the dissipating demonic remains, clinging to the dim air. The scent of ozone and something akin to a lingering campfire replaces the stench of decay. You stand amidst the aftershocks, your blade steady, your breathing quick but even.
Dante shakes his head, silver hair swaying, tucking Ebony and Ivory back into their holsters with practiced ease. He slides a hand down Rebellion, cleaning the last flecks of gore. His gaze, once sharp with the thrill of battle, softens a fraction as it lands on you.
“Not bad for a rookie. Maybe a little less chatter, more slicing next time?”
He winks, the earlier tension dissolving into his usual laid-back bravado. His competence, undeniably lethal, is underscored by that effortless charm, almost frustrating in its consistency.
“Just try to keep up, Dante.” You tease with a smirk.
A lopsided grin spreads across Dante’s face as your playful challenge hangs in the smoky air. He gives a soft chuckle, his blue eyes gleaming with an undeniable amusement as he nudges a piece of dissolving demon with his boot.
“Oh, so feisty. Wouldn't expect anything less from a Nephilim who hunts down her daddy's dirty laundry.”
The aftertaste of battle lingers, but Volak's cryptic words echo louder, 'Elysium's edge. Fallen but not broken. Pact with demons.' The revelations about Castiel, your angelic father, press down with a sudden, heavy weight, shifting the adrenaline of the fight to a dull throb of uncertainty. He's not just a distant father, he’s involved in something dangerous. Dante’s casual remarks, though annoying, underline the precariousness of this new lead.
Dante studies your expression, his smirk softening just enough to reveal a flicker of understanding beneath his usual bravado. He shifts his weight, leaning Rebellion against a surprisingly intact support beam, his attention now fully on you.
“Still set on a one-way trip to Angel-land? Or are you finally seeing the value of a… professional escort?”
He winks, the light playing across his silver hair, but his eyes remain perceptive, waiting for your move. The choice is clear: forge ahead alone with heavy implications or accept the help of the charmingly dangerous devil hunter.
You sigh and shrug, “‘Professional’ is a strong word, but… Sure, why not? Couldn’t hurt to have someone to watch my ass”
You pivot on your heel, the crunch of debris underfoot echoing in the dim warehouse as you head for the rusted exit door.
Dante's boot scuffs the floor behind you, his shadow stretching long across the scarred concrete from the faint light filtering through cracked windows.
“Whoa, hold up. You accept the escort and then bail? That's cold, even for a Nephilim.”
He steps closer, Rebellion slung over his shoulder, his blue eyes narrowing with a mix of surprise and that persistent spark of challenge.
“What's the play here, babe? Second thoughts about dragging a demon hunter into your family drama?”
The air hangs thick with the scent of scorched metal and fading sulfur, the night's chill seeping in as the door looms just ahead.
His voice carries an edge, not demanding, but probing, as if testing whether you'll walk away from the lead on Castiel—or from him.
You glance back, a calculated tilt of your head. Dante watches you with unwavering intensity, a half-smile still playing on his lips, but his blue eyes are sharp, dissecting your every micro-expression. He waits for you to confirm the unspoken alliance, to articulate why you chose not to walk out alone.
“Having second thoughts about that 'professional escort' quip, Nephilim? I can handle a last-minute cancellation, but your angelic dad's secrets won’t wait.”
A cool breeze slips through a broken window, swirling the metallic dust across the concrete. Volak’s words replay, creating a restless hum beneath your resolve. Elysium’s Edge. A pact with demons. The puzzle pieces begin to fit together, creating a picture of danger and deceit that you can’t unravel by yourself.
“Relax, I’m just trying to figure out where we go from here. Elysium’s Edge isn't exactly around the corner.” You quip.
Dante’s gaze softens with a hint of approval. He pushes off the beam, moving toward you with an easy confidence, his presence magnetic. He carries a natural ease, even among the lingering chaos.
“Figured as much. You Nephilim are all bark and… well, more bark. Don't worry, I know a few places. We'll start by getting out of this glorified junk heap, then find a map, maybe some real food, and talk about this 'Elysium' gig.”
He gestures towards the exit you were originally headed for, a tacit agreement in his motion. The next step is clear: leave the warehouse, together.
Dante falls into step beside you, a familiar smirk returning to his face. Together, you push open the rusted metal door, the hinge groaning in protest before finally yielding to the humid night air of Red Grave City. The harsh warehouse smells of sulfur and burnt concrete are instantly replaced by the city's damp aroma and the faint, throbbing pulse of distant traffic.
“Alright, Nephilim, city tour commences. First stop, 'actual useful information and non-demon food' for yours truly.”
His gaze sweeps the empty, trash-strewn alleyway you emerge into, sharp and assessing, before a lazy confidence settles back over him. He moves with an easy grace, his long trench coat billowing slightly as he starts down the dimly lit alley. The flickering neon sign of a nearby dive bar casts a sickly green glow, outlining the lean strength of his silhouette.
“As long as your idea of 'information' isn't just listening to demon gossip at a blood rave.” You're only half joking.
He glances back, a spark of pure mischief in his blue eyes as he barely suppresses a laugh. His presence is a striking contradiction to the grimy surroundings, radiating a vibrant energy that makes the bleak alley feel a little less oppressive.
“Wouldn't want to bore you. Nah, I've got a contact for a good map. If it turns out 'Elysium's Edge' is some forgotten dive bar, at least you'll get a decent martini before you face your fate. And perhaps more importantly… I know a late-night diner with the best strawberry sundae in the city.”
He waits at the mouth of the alley, not overtly, but clearly expecting you to follow. The hint of comfort in his words—maps, food, and even a ridiculous strawberry sundae—is unexpected, a crack in his usual devil-may-care facade. It’s an offer of stability wrapped in typical Dante bravado, a subtle pull to trust him in a world that constantly shifts.
You step out of the alley's shadow beside him, the city's humid night air wrapping around you like a damp cloak. Streetlights buzz overhead, casting erratic pools of yellow on the cracked sidewalk as distant horns blare from the main drag.
“Stick close, babe. Red Grave's got more eyes in the dark than you'd think.”
Dante's stride is unhurried but alert, his hand resting casually on Rebellion's hilt. The diner's neon sign flickers a block away, promising greasy respite, but a low growl ripples from the alley's depths, unnatural and guttural.
Shadows twist unnaturally, coalescing into a hulking lesser demon—claws scraping pavement, eyes glowing like embers. It lunges from the darkness, drawn by the residue of Volak's defeat, blocking your path to the street.
“Looks like we pissed off the welcoming committee. You ready for round two?” Dante calls to you.
Dante spins Rebellion free in a fluid arc, his body coiling with predatory grace. The demon charges, forcing you both into motion—the stakes sharpening as this ambush hints at a larger trail leading straight to Elysium's Edge and your father's secrets.
Adrenaline surges anew, the fight's rhythm syncing your movements instinctively, his protective glance cutting through the chaos like a promise of the dangers ahead.
“Flank it—I've got the front!” Dante yells.
You thrust your palm forward, channeling a surge of angelic light that erupts in a blinding flash. The demon recoils, its ember eyes squeezing shut as it staggers, claws raking blindly at the air.
Dante seizes the opening, Rebellion slicing through the night in a silver blur. He vaults forward, boots pounding pavement, his trench coat whipping behind him like a shadow come alive.
“Nice one—keep it pinned!”
The blade connects with a sickening crunch, carving deep into the demon's armored hide. Black ichor sprays across the alley wall, sizzling where it hits the ground. The creature roars, thrashing wildly, its tail sweeping low toward your legs.
You dodge, the light fading as your energy wanes, but Dante's already there—his free hand grabs your arm, yanking you clear with effortless strength. His touch is firm, grounding, his blue eyes locking onto yours for a split second amid the chaos.
He spins, driving Rebellion home in a final, decisive thrust. The demon convulses, then bursts into dissipating smoke, leaving only echoes of its guttural cries and the acrid stench of defeat.
“Not bad for a warmup. But these things don't show up alone—something's stirring. Your dad's trail is lighting up the underworld like a damn beacon.”
Dante sheathes Rebellion with a flourish, his chest rising and falling from the exertion, silver hair tousled and catching the neon glow. He straightens, that trademark smirk returning, but his gaze holds a sharper edge now—protective, intrigued, as if the fight has forged something unbreakable between you.
The alley falls quiet again, save for the distant hum of the city, but the weight of his words hangs heavy. Elysium's Edge isn't just a destination; it's pulling demons straight to you, escalating the hunt into something far more personal and perilous.
“We push on to the diner? Or do we scout for more company first?” Dante asks.
You close your eyes and reach out with your mind, searching. “I don’t feel anything else nearby, we should get some food and figure out the plan.”
You nod toward the diner's flickering sign, the decision cutting through the lingering tension like a blade. Dante's smirk widens, a glint of approval in his blue eyes as he falls into step beside you, Rebellion sheathed but his hand never straying far from its hilt.
The alley gives way to the cracked sidewalk, the city's pulse growing louder with each step. Neon buzzes overhead, casting erratic shadows that dance across Dante's silver hair and the sharp lines of his jaw. His stride matches yours effortlessly, a silent rhythm born from the night's shared battles.
Minutes pass in the humid night air, the distant growl of engines mixing with the faint sizzle of fryers as you approach the diner. It's a relic of Red Grave's underbelly—greasy windows, a bell that jingles weakly over the door, and the warm glow of fluorescent lights spilling onto the pavement.
“After you, Nephilim. Ladies first—or whatever angelic equivalent you've got.”
You push inside, the door swinging shut behind you with a thud. The place smells of coffee and charred burgers, a handful of late-night patrons hunched over plates at the counter. Dante slides into a booth by the window, his coat draping over the seat as he gestures for you to join him.
A waitress with tired eyes drops menus, but Dante waves her off with a grin, ordering two strawberry sundaes and coffees without missing a beat. His casual command fills the space, drawing a reluctant smile from her as she shuffles away.
“Alright, babe. Spill—what's your read on this Elysium's Edge business? Volak wasn't just flapping his gums; that pact sounds like bad news for anyone with wings in their family tree.”
His tone shifts from playful to serious, blue eyes locking onto yours across the scarred Formica table. The diner's hum fades into the background, the weight of the question pressing in—your father's secrets, the demons on your trail, and now this half-demon hunter who's become your unexpected anchor.
Outside, a shadow flickers past the window, too deliberate to be a trick of the light. Dante's gaze flicks there, his body tensing subtly, the air thickening with unspoken threat. The sundaes arrive, but the sweet scent does little to mask the rising stakes—this stop isn't just for food; it's the calm before whatever storm Castiel's path has unleashed.
“And hey, if things get hairy, I've got your back. But you gotta level with me—what are you really chasing here?”
You sigh. “My father isn’t just a lead- he’s the reason I exist like this. That demon said: “His blood calls to the abyss.” That’s me. I am his blood.”
Dante’s playful smirk vanishes, replaced by a deep furrow in his brow. The diner’s low hum fades around your confession, his gaze sharpening on you, an unreadable mix of concern and intrigue in his striking blue eyes. His earlier jests about “daddy’s dirty laundry” now land with a heavier impact, underscoring a truth far more dangerous than he first perceived.
“The abyss, huh? Sounds like your family tree’s got some seriously rotten roots. Didn't realize I was signing up for a trip into someone's personal apocalypse.”
He leans back against the booth, casually reaching for his abandoned strawberry sundae, but his eyes never leave yours, assessing the weight of your revelation. Before he can scoop a spoonful, the bell above the diner door jingles sharply. A heavy, shadowed figure steps inside, its entrance causing the air to grow unnaturally cold.
Silence falls across the diner. The few scattered patrons freeze, their gazes riveted by the imposing newcomer. Its cloaked form seems to swallow the dim light, and a familiar, rank odor—like burnt sulfur and old blood—curls into the air. It’s another demon, larger and more imposing than the last, its attention immediately locking onto your booth.
“Well, speak of the devil… or rather, don't. Looks like 'Elysium's Edge' is sending its regards. And judging by that size, it's not here for a sundae.” Dante's hand drops from the spoon, tightening around Rebellion's hilt. The table, with its sticky sweet sundaes, suddenly feels like a flimsy barrier between you and a rapidly escalating war. The demon takes another step, its massive form eclipsing the door, the flicker of its predatory gaze indicating a clear objective: you.
“This isn't a scouting party, babe. This thing's coming for you. Any brilliant angelic ideas beyond turning it into a light show?” Dante whispers.
Your voice cuts through the frozen diner like a clarion call, sharp and commanding as you shout for the patrons to evacuate. Chairs scrape back in a frantic rush, the waitress dropping her tray with a clatter as bodies surge toward the exit, the bell jingling wildly in their wake.
Power coils within you, a radiant storm building as your eyes ignite with an ethereal white glow. Shadowy wings unfurl from your back, not the pure light of angels but a dark, ethereal extension that pulses with Nephilim fury, casting jagged silhouettes across the diner's walls.
Your celestial blade materializes in a flash of silver, humming with restrained energy. You lunge forward, boots slamming against the checkered floor, closing the distance to the demon in a blur of motion. Its cloaked form rears up, revealing a maw of jagged teeth and eyes like molten lava, but you're faster—your blade arcs toward its chest in a lethal strike.
The demon swats at you with a massive claw, the impact sending a shockwave that shatters nearby plates. You twist mid-air, wings propelling you upward, but the force clips your side, tearing fabric and drawing a thin line of blood. Pain flares, hot and immediate, but you press on, driving the blade deep into its shoulder.
Black ichor erupts from the wound, sizzling against your skin. The creature bellows, a sound that rattles the windows, and swings again—this time aiming to crush you against the counter. Dante explodes into action beside you, Rebellion drawn in a seamless whirl, his body a shield as he intercepts the blow.
“Not on my watch, you ugly bastard!”
His sword clashes against the claw with a deafening ring, sparks flying as he holds the line. Silver hair whips across his face, blue eyes fierce and locked on the fight, his stance unyielding—every muscle coiled with that effortless, lethal grace that makes him seem untouchable. He glances your way, a flicker of raw concern breaking through his bravado, urging you to regroup.
The demon thrashes, its voice a guttural rasp that echoes Volak's warnings.
“The blood calls... the pact awakens... Castiel's heir will fall to the abyss!”
The words hit like venom, confirming the threat is personal, tied to your very existence, escalating the hunt into a destiny-shattering confrontation.
You channel another burst of light through your blade, the glow intensifying as your wings beat against the air. Together, you and Dante strike in unison—his Rebellion slashing low while your celestial edge plunges high. The demon convulses, its form cracking like fractured stone, before it erupts in a vortex of smoke and shadow, the diner trembling from the force of its dissipation.
Silence crashes in, broken only by your ragged breaths and the distant wail of sirens. The air reeks of ozone and decay, sundaes melted into sticky pools on the floor. Dante sheathes his weapon, turning to you with a mix of adrenaline-fueled grin and shadowed worry, his hand hovering near your injured side without touching—respectful, yet ready.
“That was too close. Your old man's pact just painted a target on your back bigger than my ego. We need to move—now.”
His words hang heavy, the revelation from the demon's dying snarl binding your fates tighter. The fight's end doesn't bring relief; it ignites a fiercer urgency, the path to Elysium's Edge now a gauntlet of revelations and relentless pursuit, with Dante's presence your only constant in the storm.
“Yeah we need to move, but don’t worry about the scratch, my wounds heal almost instantly. Perks of being a Nephilim I guess.” You laugh breathlessly.
Dante pauses, his hand still hovering near your side, his blue eyes narrowing as he processes your words. The casual ease of his stance tightens, replaced by a subtle shift of intrigued assessment.
“Instant healing, huh? Convenient. And probably attracts a lot more unwanted attention than regular boo-boos. Another notch on the 'Why you are a walking neon sign for trouble' list.”
He drops his hand, a wry smirk tugging at his lips, but the intensity in his gaze remains. He pushes past the tables, heading for the shattered front door of the diner. The sirens wail closer now, promising unwelcome attention.
“Alright, super-healer, let's get you off this hot-zone dance floor before Red Grave's finest show up with too many questions. My place has better coffee anyway, and fewer flying demon bits.”
You follow him out into the humid night, leaving the chaos of the diner behind. The patrol cars scream closer, their red and blue lights painting the street as you melt into the city's labyrinthine alleys. Dante moves with silent efficiency, his pace swift, weaving through the darkened paths like a phantom.
Minutes later, the sirens are a fading hum. You emerge onto a less-trafficked street dominated by older, brick buildings. He stops before a nondescript storefront, its unlit sign featuring a barely visible ‘Devil May Cry’.
He unlocks the heavy door with a quick flick of his wrist. Inside, the air is thick with the scent of old leather and gunpowder. The space is cluttered but organized; a worn pool table dominates the center, surrounded by vintage posters, an old jukebox, and an arsenal of weapons displayed on racks. A single desk sits in a corner, buried under maps and demonology texts. It’s a chaotic testament to a life spent fighting hell, yet oddly...cozy.
“Welcome to my humble abode. Make yourself at home—try not to touch anything with an unnecessary amount of blades, though. Or anything that might explode if you look at it wrong.” He shrugs off his trench coat, tossing it over a nearby chair. The air in the shop, thick with the scent of demon dust and years of untold battles, provides an odd kind of sanctuary. He surveys the room, then you, his blue eyes softening slightly amidst the serious lines of his face.
“Your little display back there? It definitely got their attention. Elysium's Edge isn't just a place, it's a threat, and it's waking up to you. So, Nephilim… what's the first move?”
“My father, Castiel... he vanished when I was a kid. Left me with nothing but whispers of angelic blood and a blade that kills demons. Volak's words make it sound like he's not just gone—he's buried in something that could drag me down with him.”
“Sounds like a real family reunion waiting to happen. Absent dads and demon pacts—story of my life, babe. But hey, if he's the key to your origins, we're not backing off now.” He pushes off the desk, moving to a cluttered shelf lined with ancient tomes and faded maps. His fingers trail over a worn volume, pulling it free with a practiced ease that speaks of years spent unraveling supernatural knots. The shop's ambient hum—the low tick of a clock, the distant city drone—feels heavier now, charged with the vulnerability you've just shared.
“I've chased leads on fallen angels before. Elysium's Edge? It's a myth to most, but I've heard whispers—ruins on the city's outskirts, where heaven and hell bleed together. If Castiel's there, making deals, it explains the demon parade tonight.” He says, walking back over to you.
Dante spreads the map across the desk, its edges frayed, marked with cryptic symbols that glow faintly under his touch. He glances up, his expression a blend of resolve and that trademark spark, drawing you into the planning like it's the most natural thing. The revelation about your father doesn't scare him off; it pulls him closer, forging a tentative trust amid the weapons and shadows.
“We gear up at dawn. Hit the edge before more of your dad's fan club shows. But... you sure you want to dive into this abyss? It's not just answers waiting—could be chains.”
His voice carries a rare gravity, the playful edge softened by genuine concern. The map lies between you, a tangible path forward, but his question lingers, inviting you to weigh the cost of chasing Castiel's shadow—together.
“I have to know the truth, Dante.” You say softly.
Dante's blue eyes hold yours for a long moment, the weight of your words settling between you like a shared secret. He nods slowly, the map forgotten as he steps closer, the cluttered shop fading into the background with its hum of distant city noise and the faint scent of leather.
“Truth it is, then. But facing that kind of darkness... it makes you appreciate the light a little more, doesn't it, babe?”
His hand reaches out, fingers brushing your arm lightly, a tentative touch that lingers, warm against your skin. The air thickens, charged with the adrenaline from the night's fights and the vulnerability of your confession. He tilts his head, silver hair catching the desk lamp's glow, his breath steady but close now.
You feel the heat radiating from his body, the subtle shift as he closes the distance, his free hand cupping your cheek with surprising gentleness. His thumb traces your jawline, eyes darkening with an intensity that mirrors the pull between you.
“I've got your back, but right now... I need this. Need you.” He whispers.
His lips press against yours, firm and searching, the kiss starting slow, tasting of coffee and unspoken promises. His hand slides to the nape of your neck, pulling you deeper into it, tongues meeting in a heated tangle that sends sparks through your veins. The world narrows to the press of his mouth, the scrape of his stubble, the way his body aligns with yours.
Dante's other hand grips your waist, fingers digging in just enough to anchor you, his chest rising and falling against yours. The kiss breaks for a breath, his forehead resting on yours, but his hand trails lower, palm flattening over your hip, teasing the edge of your shirt.
“Fuck, babe... you taste better than any victory.” He groans.
Your fingers slip under the hem of Dante's shirt, brushing the warm, taut skin of his abdomen. His muscles tense under your touch, a low hum escaping his throat as he presses closer, the heat of his body seeping into you.
Dante's mouth claims yours again, deeper this time, his tongue sweeping in with a hunger that matches the slide of his hand up your back, fingers splaying wide to pull you flush against him. The cluttered shop fades, replaced by the rhythm of his breath, ragged and quick.
He breaks the kiss, lips trailing hot along your jaw to your neck, teeth grazing the sensitive skin there. His free hand joins yours under his shirt, guiding it higher over the ridges of his chest, while his own dips beneath your waistband, palm pressing flat against the curve of your hip.
“Tell me to stop if it's too much... but don't.” He breathes against your neck.
The air in the shop thickens, heavy with the scent of leather and desire. Dante's fingers hook into your belt loop, tugging lightly, his erection straining against his jeans as it presses insistently against your thigh. His mouth returns to yours, nipping at your lower lip before soothing it with a slow lick.
He shifts, backing you toward the desk, the edge biting into your hips as his hands roam higher under your shirt, thumbs circling the undersides of your breasts through your bra. A soft groan vibrates from him into your mouth, his body grinding subtly, building the friction between you.
Your fingers curl into the fabric of Dante's shirt, tugging it upward in a swift motion. The material slides over his head, revealing the sculpted planes of his chest—muscles honed from endless battles, scarred faintly but taut under the dim lamp light. He tosses the shirt aside, the soft thud landing on the cluttered floor.
“Damn, babe... keep looking at me like that and I won't last.” His hands mirror yours, gripping the hem of your shirt and pulling it off in one fluid pull, exposing your skin to the cool shop air. Goosebumps rise as his gaze rakes over your breasts, still cupped by your bra, his breath hitching audibly. He steps closer, the heat of his bare chest brushing yours, nipples hardening against the friction.
Dante's mouth descends to your collarbone, lips hot and open, tongue tracing a slow path downward. His fingers work the clasp of your bra with practiced ease, unhooking it before sliding the straps down your shoulders. Your breasts spill free, and he cups them immediately, thumbs brushing over your nipples in firm circles that draw a gasp from your lips.
“These... fuck, they're perfect. So sensitive.” He lowers his head further, mouth closing over one nipple, sucking gently at first, then harder, teeth grazing the peak. His other hand kneads your other breast, rolling the nipple between fingers warm against your skin. Below, his erection throbs against your thigh through his pants, the leather smooth as he grinds subtly, building the ache between your legs.
The desk edge digs into your back as he presses forward, his free hand sliding down to unbutton your pants, fingers dipping just inside the waistband to tease the soft skin of your lower abdomen. The air fills with the wet sounds of his mouth on your breast and your quickening breaths, the tension coiling tighter.
Your hand moves to the zipper of Dante's jeans, pulling it down with a sharp rasp that cuts through the heavy air. His cock springs free, thick and hard, veins pulsing under your fingers as you wrap around him, stroking slowly from base to tip.
“Shit... yeah, just like that.” Dante's hips buck forward into your grip, a low groan rumbling from his chest as pre-cum beads at the head, slicking your palm. His mouth leaves your nipple with a wet pop, lips swollen and glistening, before he captures your mouth in a bruising kiss, tongue thrusting deep in time with your strokes.
His fingers finish unbuttoning your pants, shoving them down your thighs along with your underwear, exposing your pussy to the cool shop air. He cups you there, fingers sliding through your wet folds, circling your clit with firm pressure that makes your thighs tremble.
“So fucking wet for me already. I want to feel you come undone.”
Dante's cock throbs in your hand, growing harder as you pump him faster, his free hand gripping your ass to pull you closer. He dips a finger inside you, then two, curling them against your walls while his thumb grinds your clit, the wet sounds of his fingers mixing with his ragged breaths.
He breaks the kiss, forehead pressed to yours, blue eyes dark with lust as he thrusts his fingers deeper, matching the rhythm of your strokes on his cock. The desk creaks under the shifting weight, tension building like a storm about to break.
Your hands press against Dante's chest, spinning and shoving him back onto the desk with a firm push. Papers scatter, the wood creaking under his weight as he lands, legs dangling off the edge. You swing a leg over, straddling his hips, your wet pussy sliding against the hard length of his cock, coating him in your arousal.
“Fuck, yes... ride me just like that.” Dante's hands grip your thighs, fingers digging into the soft flesh as he bucks up, his cock grinding along your slick folds. The friction sends jolts through you, his tip nudging your clit with each roll of his hips. His chest heaves, muscles flexing under your palms, blue eyes locked on where your bodies meet.
He sits up slightly, mouth latching onto your breast again, sucking hard on your nipple while one hand slides up your back, pulling you down against him. The wet heat of his tongue flicks over the peak, teeth grazing as your hips circle, smearing your wetness along his throbbing shaft.
“You're dripping all over my cock... feels so damn good.” Dante's free hand reaches between you, guiding his cock to rub directly against your entrance, teasing the stretch without pushing in. Your thighs tremble around him, the desk edge biting into his ass as he thrusts up shallowly, the head of his cock pressing just inside your pussy lips, building the ache.
His mouth trails up to your neck, sucking a mark into the skin as his fingers knead your ass, urging you to grind harder. The shop air fills with the slick sounds of your bodies sliding together, his groans vibrating against your throat, tension coiling tight in the space between entry and release.
Your hand guides Dante's thick cock to your entrance, the head pressing against your slick folds before you sink down slowly. He stretches you wide, every inch filling your pussy as you take him deeper, walls clenching around his throbbing length.
Dante's hands clamp onto your hips, fingers bruising as he holds you steady, his cock buried to the hilt inside you. He groans low, hips twitching upward in shallow thrusts, the wet slap of skin echoing in the shop as your arousal coats him.
You rock against him, setting a rhythm that has his abs flexing under your palms, silver hair sticking to his sweat-damp forehead. His blue eyes burn into yours, jaw clenched as he meets your movements, driving deeper with each grind.
“Fuck, just like that—you’re so tight. Ride my cock, baby.” He moans as one hand slides up to cup your breast, thumb flicking your nipple hard while the other grips your ass, pulling you down harder onto him. The desk rattles beneath, papers fluttering to the floor as his thrusts pick up pace, pounding into your pussy with raw force.
His cock drags against your inner walls, hitting that spot that makes your thighs quake, slick sounds filling the air as he fucks up into you relentlessly, the tension building with every deep slide.
Your hands push against Dante's chest, twisting your bodies in a fluid roll. He flips you onto your back atop the desk, papers crinkling under your shoulders as his weight settles over you, thighs spreading yours wide. His cock slides out halfway before he slams back in, deeper, harder, the desk shaking with the force of his thrusts.
“That's it—take every inch of my cock.” Dante's hips snap forward relentlessly, his thick shaft stretching your pussy with each pounding drive, wet sounds echoing as your arousal slicks his length. His hands pin your wrists above your head, muscles bulging in his arms, silver hair falling into his sweat-slicked face while blue eyes lock on yours, fierce and hungry.
He leans down, mouth capturing your nipple again, sucking hard as his cock grinds deep inside you, hitting that sensitive spot with brutal precision. Your legs wrap around his waist, heels digging into his back, pulling him closer as the friction builds, his balls slapping against your ass with every rough thrust.
“Fuck, you're clenching so tight around me... gonna make me lose it.” Dante's pace quickens, one hand releasing your wrist to grip your thigh, hitching it higher for a sharper angle. His cock throbs inside your pulsing walls, dragging out with a slick pull before plunging back in, the rhythm raw and unyielding, tension coiling as sweat beads on his chest and drips onto your skin.
Your hand slips between your bodies, fingers finding your swollen clit amid the slick heat where Dante's cock drives into your pussy. You rub in tight circles, the pressure amplifying each thrust as your walls flutter around him.
“Yes, baby—touch yourself for me. Show me how good it feels.” Dante's thrusts grow erratic, his hips slamming forward with wet smacks, cock stretching you deeper as sweat slicks his chest. His grip tightens on your thigh, holding you open while your fingers work faster, clit throbbing under the friction.
He releases your wrist, hand sliding down to cover yours, pressing your fingers harder against your clit. His blue eyes bore into yours, jaw tight, silver hair matted as he pounds relentlessly, the desk groaning beneath the force.
“Come on my cock, baby. Let me feel you squeeze me tight.” He pants.
Your pussy clenches harder around his throbbing shaft, arousal dripping down your thighs as his balls slap against your ass. The coil tightens, pleasure spiking with every rub and plunge, his groans mixing with the slick rhythm filling the shop.
Dante leans in, lips crashing against yours in a messy kiss, tongue thrusting in time with his hips. His free hand kneads your breast, pinching the nipple sharply, pushing over the edge with a loud whine.
Your nails rake down Dante's back, leaving red trails across his sweat-slicked skin as you buck your hips, flipping him onto his back with a surge of strength. The desk creaks loudly, his body landing beneath you, cock still buried deep in your pussy as you straddle him once more, thighs clamping around his hips.
“Hell yeah—take control. Fuck me like you mean it.” He growls.
Dante's hands grip your ass, fingers digging in as you sink down fully onto his throbbing cock, the stretch reigniting the fire in your core. He thrusts up sharply, meeting your descent with a wet slap, his abs flexing under your palms while blue eyes gleam with raw hunger.
You grind against him, rolling your hips to drag his shaft along your walls, clit rubbing against his base with each circle. His cock pulses inside you, veins pressing against your sensitive spots, arousal dripping down to coat his balls as the rhythm builds, slick and urgent.
“Your pussy's milking me so good... don't stop, I'm close.” He lets out what can only be described as whimper.
Dante sits up halfway, mouth latching onto your breast, sucking your nipple hard while one hand slides between you to thumb your clit in rough circles. His hips snap up faster, pounding into you from below, the desk rattling as tension coils tighter, your bodies slick with sweat and need.
His free hand tangles in your hair, pulling your head back to expose your neck, teeth grazing the skin as his cock drives deeper, hitting that spot that makes your thighs quake as you tumble over the edge again.
You slow your rolling hips, the languid drag of your pussy along Dante's throbbing cock drawing out each sensation as you lean forward, breath hot against his ear, whispering how much you want him to cum inside you.
“Goddamn, baby... hearing you say that—it's gonna make me explode.” Dante's grip tightens on your ass, fingers bruising as his hips buck up sharply once, then match your slower rhythm, his cock pulsing deep inside your slick walls with every deliberate slide. Sweat beads on his chest, blue eyes locked on your face, jaw clenched in restraint.
He thrusts up lazily, the head of his cock grinding against everything inside of you, your arousal dripping down his shaft as the wet friction builds a torturous heat. His hand slides up your spine, tangling in your hair to pull your mouth to his in a deep, grinding kiss, tongues mimicking the slow pace below.
“Keep whispering it... fuck, I’m gonna fill you up just like that.” Dante's free hand kneads your breast, pinching the nipple sharply to spike the pleasure, his cock swelling thicker inside you as your slowed grind teases him toward the edge. The desk creaks softly under the unhurried rhythm, slick sounds filling the air, tension coiling like a spring ready to snap.
His breaths come ragged, hips twitching with the effort to hold back, the veins along his shaft throbbing against your clenching pussy as he hovers on the brink, waiting for your lead.
You lean forward and whisper into his ear, “Cum inside me, Dante.”
Dante's hips surge up one final time, his cock swelling impossibly thicker inside your clenching pussy as he drives deep, burying himself to the hilt with a guttural groan that echoes off the shop walls.
“Baby... fuck, I'm coming—take it all.” Hot spurts of cum flood your walls, his shaft pulsing rhythmically as he empties inside you, the wet heat spilling deep with each twitch. His hands clamp onto your hips, holding you down flush against him, muscles rigid under your palms while sweat drips from his brow.
Your pussy milks him through the waves, slick arousal mixing with his release, dripping down his balls as the desk creaks under the locked tension of your bodies. His blue eyes squeeze shut, jaw slack in raw ecstasy, silver hair plastered to his forehead.
“Shit... that was... you feel incredible.” Dante's thrusts slow to shallow rocks, prolonging the aftershocks as his cock softens slightly but stays buried inside you, the slick warmth lingering between your thighs. His chest heaves against yours, breaths ragged in the heavy shop air scented with sex and leather.
He pulls you down gently, lips brushing your shoulder in a lazy kiss, one hand stroking your back while the other cups your ass, keeping you connected as the tension ebbs into a sated hum.
Your fingers brush through Dante's sweat-soaked silver hair, pushing the strands back from his forehead. His blue eyes flutter open, meeting yours with a softened gaze, the intensity from moments ago fading into a lazy warmth.
“Damn…that was something else.” Dante's hand traces slow circles on your back, his cock still half-hard inside you, the mingled warmth of your releases slick between your thighs. He shifts slightly on the desk, pulling you closer, his chest rising and falling in sync with yours amid the scattered papers and dim shop light.
His lips curve into a satisfied smirk, one hand cupping your cheek as he leans up for a gentle kiss, tongue brushing yours softly before pulling back. The air hangs heavy with the scent of sex, leather, and faint city hum filtering through the windows.
“You okay? Didn't push too hard, did I?” Dante eases you off him slowly, his cock slipping free with a wet sound, cum trickling down your inner thigh as he sits up, wrapping an arm around your waist to keep you near. His free hand wipes a bead of sweat from your brow, thumb lingering on your skin.
“It was perfect.” You whisper, blush warming your cheeks.
The desk creaks as he stands, helping you to your feet, bodies still flushed and close. He grabs a nearby cloth from the workbench, dabbing gently at your thighs before tossing it aside, his touch tender now in the afterglow.
“We should clean up and come up with a plan for tomorrow.” You suggest softly.
Dante nods, his arm still loose around your waist as he glances around the cluttered shop, the dim lights casting shadows over scattered tools and the rumpled desk.
“Yeah, good call. Can't head out to Elysium's Edge covered in... well, you know.” He releases you gently, stepping back to snag another cloth from the workbench, wetting it under a nearby faucet before handing it over. His blue eyes flick to yours, a faint smirk tugging at his lips as he pulls up his pants, zipping them with a casual flick.
The cool cloth wipes away the stickiness on your thighs, the faint scent of soap cutting through the lingering musk of sex. Dante busies himself straightening the desk, shoving papers into piles while the city night hums faintly outside the windows.
“Dawn's a few hours off. We gear up, grab some shut-eye if we can. Elysium's edge is going to be demon central—your dad's old stomping grounds won't be a picnic.”
He leans against the workbench, arms crossed over his chest, silver hair still tousled as he watches you, the post-sex haze settling into focused readiness, the air between you charged with unspoken alliance.
“So, I assume you’re cool with sharing your bed for the night?” You question with a smirk.
“Hell yeah, I am. Come on.” He leads you upstairs to his modest bedroom, messy and lived in, but cozy like the shop downstairs.
He strips off his leather pants before sliding under the covers. You join him, bodies tangling naturally in the dim glow from a streetlamp outside. His arm drapes over your waist, breath steady against your neck.
Sleep pulls you under quickly, the weight of the night dissolving into warmth and quiet.
