I used to be terrified [of getting on stage].

Okay, you can all blame this on @lillpon, who saw me mutter about its existence in the tags on a reblog and poked me about it.  I scribbled this in the notebook I keep by my bed in a fit of pique years ago and have cleaned it up a smidge for posting, but it’s still just a sketch.

I only wrote the speech itself.  So to set the stage, imagine that after Emma kills him to stop the darkness, we actually get to see his funeral.  David is standing, tall and strong and probably a little misty eyed, in front of the usual crowd.  Snow’s probably openly and silently weeping in the front row, holding her baby.  Emma’s destroyed.  Numb and empty.  Henry’s trying really hard to be tall and strong and only a little misty eyed, like his grandfather, but he’s on the verge of breaking down.  Cut to various other characters nodding solemnly or crying.  Etc etc.

We’ve all done things we regret or aren’t proud of, Killian probably more than most.  He’s wronged most of us here, at one time or another.  But, we’re all standing here today because he sacrificed himself to save us all.  He proved what kind of man he really was.

It’s no secret that I didn’t like Hook when he first came to Storybrooke.  I thought he was a no good pirate who only cared about himself.  But, I was wrong.  Not about the pirate thing.  He was a pirate.  But everything else?  I was wrong about that.

The truth is, even without his final act of heroism, most of us wouldn’t be here today without him.  He helped us save Henry from Neverland.  He brought Emma back to us after Pan’s curse.  He helped ensure I met my wife.  He sacrificed himself to save Emma and Henry in the Author’s twisted book.

He proved himself over and over again.  I’m standing here today, in front of all of you, and when we leave here, I’ll get to hug my wife and my children and my grandson, because of him.  And for that, I’m eternally grateful.

Because I know y’all are curious ;)

I’m not mentioning everything, because a) it’s in a foreign language for me and I miss stuff, b) I’m not sure what impact it has other than them simply mentioning that stuff in the interview and c) I’m just your average fan with her biases and preferences, some things draw my attention, some don’t. But it was an interesting insight into Colin’s inspirations and work ethic, so I’ll try to mention as much as possible. Also because c’mon it’s Colin and we all want a bit.

If you can and can afford it, I’d suggest supporting Allen on patreon. The work he’s offering is very important, especially in the times we’re currently experiencing.
